About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Great for brunch
  • Good for business meals
A social atmosphere fit for a president. Join us where vibrant cocktail culture meets fun elegance and comfort food at this Dupont Circle neighborhood favorite. It is said that while President Theodore Roosevelt loved to eat, to him the dinner table was less an occasion for fine dining than as a springboard for conversations. In keeping with this, we have created a stunning interior design for Teddy and the Bully Bar that keeps patrons talking. Reflecting Theodore Roosevelt’s love for simple American comfort food, including steaks, oysters, fried chicken and house-made cornbread, our seasonal menus feature a contemporary twist on classic comfort dishes with a focus on quality, local and simplicity. We pay special attention to sourcing from our local producers, representing President Roosevelt’s belief to “Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” We offer an exciting happy hour, energetic bottomless brunch (Sundays), and a perfect match of social energy and food culture.

Hubby and I were visiting from Atlanta for my graduation, and the hotel receptionist recommended we try Teddy & Bully Bar for dinner on Friday night. We enjoyed it so much that we went back for Sunday brunch.

there were very few patrons when we arrived so it gave me pause, perhaps it would not be a good experience. That was far from the reality! Our server was excellent , friendly and efficient. We had a selection of raw oysters , fresh and beautifully presented. Also had the prosciutto toast and I could have had more of that mouthwatering treat! Wow! The salmon, braised short rib and the pork tenderloin were each prepared in a unique manner that made each dish the envy if the other! Its on my do not miss list for next time in DC. (Turns out having a holiday weekend means fewer patrons in the Dupont Circle area)

The new menu has some nice options. I like the watermelon salad, only comment is more burrata the better. The crispy green tomatoes are great.

Host was HORRIBLE and the music was wayyyyy to loud. Had to yell while eating. They brought out my grits and toast 10 minutes before my meal. Unacceptable. Being in the food industry...much more training needs to be done. I will NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone

A hostess told us we could not sit in a front room unless she moved a bunch of things around. We were a party of 3 and the restaurant was, and remained, more than half empty throughout our stay. We were taken to a chilly back room. Table after table refused it and were moved to the other dining room or to the bar. The waffle process was needlessly complicated and I ended up with a $20 waffle without syrup. Upon request our waiter brought a sickly sweet, viscous substance identified as syrup. But it was generic Karo or similar. The fake syrup stood out even more because of the fake “whipped butter” which may have had a drop of butter in whipped food service generic Cool Whip. My husband enjoyed the micro tapas as part of his unlimited brunch. More frozen guests wised up to the pretty meat locker we were stored in. Eventually the music went from lively to main event in the front room, blaring over everything in the restaurant. As we passed the sun-lit front room again out of our frigid annex, we noticed that the smoke from the food bar filled the dining room air. It left a bad taste, but after all this, the real sour pill was the 4+ percent economic impact BS fee tacked onto the bill. Diners hate these tacky fees. Adjust your pricing accordingly and drop the editorial. Or maybe you think diners would reject a $20.80 waffle with prison toppings served in a meat locker? Beautiful restaurant. Nice server when he could make it back to our hideout. Overall a preventable shame.

I had a great experience dining out yesterday, June 6. The food was delicious—fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. What really stood out, though, was the excellent service. Our server was incredibly attentive, polite, and helpful throughout the entire meal, making us feel truly welcomed and taken care of. The overall environment was lively and positive, especially with the Pride celebration happening. It added a joyful and inclusive energy to the space that made the evening even more special. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for great food, outstanding service, and a vibrant atmosphere!

Teddy was its usual energetic experience but for my guests it was unexpected when one ordered the ribs which cam as a FULL rack and delicious. Our waiter was the real highlight of the experience with a charming and warm smile, great recomendations and high quality service. Ask for Kevin R. he will guide you through the menu. An absolutly positive and enjoyable experience.

Really loved the brunch. The service was also good. My favorite mimosa was the guava flavor.
