I went for my birthday, and happened to check the open table box that it was my birthday. Wasn’t expecting anything to come of it and the waiter and (who I presume to have been) the manager were just absolutely lovely. The food was also perfect, but frankly the service and birthday love made my day.
Great experience as always! Great food, decent pricing, and a fun bartender.
I don’t have anything negative to say about this. I loved the food, environment, the service, everyone dressed up. It was beautifully designed and it was perfect. Made reservations for mommy bday weekend and it was EVERYTHING I IMAGINED AND THEN SOME!
Poorly timed food. Entrees came out too fast and only two at a time for our party of 6. Had to keep reminding waiter for things we had asked for. Meal for 6 was fine in 1 1/4 hours. Not what we wanted. Went elsewhere for dessert to extend the night. Very unhappy looking host seating guests.
The food was excellent. Our server was very knowledgeable about the history of Teddy Roosevelt- he was engaging. The decor is beautiful and interesting. All in all a wonderful evenings
A little loud but location great.
The restaurant came highly recommended by a former bartender at this restaurant. Although I did not go during happy hour, the happy hour deals are supposed to be good. I ordered from the pre fixe menu which was amazingly delicious. The waiter suggested I return for a Sunday brunch and I will. The wine pairing with the pre fixe menu was perfect. I really enjoyed the dessert as well. A great first time experience.
The food was meh. Ordered the cornbread (I've cooked Jiffy at home that was tastier), mac and cheese (nothing to write home about), and scallop entrée (scallops were good, the rest of the entrée was luke warm). Our server kept forgetting to items to the table - flatware, lemon for cocktail. Overall, I don't think I'll be going back.
Waitress was very pleasant and ensured that we were satisfied with our meal. She was able to explain the food choices and ingredients that I was not familiar with.
Teddys was great. Food was awesome and always came out hot. Waiter was attentive and present, kept our glasses full! The music was nice but it was just a liiiiittle too loud. Hope to go back soon.
Arrived on time for our reservation and were immediately greeted with “our kitchen is closing so if you want food you’ll need to order”. I said “we have a dinner reservation and we are 5 minutes early” and I was simply ignored and despite having a reservation which they offered as an option online the employees were clearly more interested in getting out for the night than fulfilling the reservations. Food was good, atmosphere was pretty cool.
Food was great, as always, but the service was off. Typically the staff is very attentive but Sunday brunch seems to be a bit more relaxed service wise.
Excellent restaurant for business lunch. My guest and I had the Cubano and Salmon salad. Excellent! Service is always very good!
Great service and delicious food. You have to see the "Teddy" decor!
For a place that touts its aged bourbon and cocktails generally, the $14 old-fashions were very underwhelming. Serving pour was stingy and the presentation of the drink was poor. Our table went there for dinner and to try cocktails. We arrived expecting to order at least two rounds because the online drink menu looked impressive. Instead, we stopped at one round and we sent back the old-fashioned #1 drink.
We were seated ten feet from the bread/bakery station and yet bread did not arrive at our table until after the first course. Even despite three requests for bread from the time we were seated. Dinner itself was good. Overall, felt like another generic place with high prices that doesn’t live up to its billing.
I was looking for brunch on MLK day to celebrate my birthday. I called the restaurant and Tyler was very nice and welcoming about the brunch being offered that day. When I arrived at the restaurant he sat me promptly at the seat of my choice. Leslie, our server, was very sweet and knowledgeable about the menu items. The food was so great and the staff were all very welcoming and sweet! I will be back!
first time we tried brunch. We weren't disappointed, but dinner is definitely my favorite.
Management service was very poor didn’t care for his demeanor. I asked waiter about a drink but it said happy hour he stated purchase at the bar . I go to bar bartender stated her manger said she couldn’t serve me if I’m a guess at a table . I explain I was sent to purchase my drink. Go back and tell the waiter what she said he apologized . So I placed order at table it took over 30 min to get drunk we had to keep asking where is my drink . There was only 4 tables and no one at bar , so what where we waiting for? My food came out scallops hot but spinach and squash was cold not warm but cold . So between the cold plate and drink matter manager decided to come on floor . He never came to our table to apologize , just walked around with a horrible look that no one should have working in Customer service , but 3 people that came in and didn’t have glasses of water he put a smile on for them and poured their water. I/we never gave negative response to our situation but to not be acknowledged by management and the mistakes happening , I would think he would have made it known he was aware and apologized. I want to hope that I/we didn’t get acknowledged because we were the only people of color there ,(2 females) it started to feel that way as more customers started to come in. Please correct the manger in his people/ customer service skills.
My colleague and I ate here for lunch during restaurant week. It was good. I had the brussel sprouts (yummy), grilled cheese (bread toasted a little too much), and pear crostada (a little lacking in taste with tough dough). My colleague has the squash soup and the branzino. She liked them. It's worth giving another shot with different food choices.
The three course meal during restaurant week was delicious. Crispy chicken, amazing brussel sprouts, and flourless cake with ice cream. Great service and atmosphere!
Good food, fun ambiance, tremendously loud. Hard to hear my companion from across the table.
The food was great, our waitress was attentive, and you could actually hold a conversation and hear the other person (not always the case at DC restaurants). It took a little long than usual for someone to come up to the host stand to help us out, but not unreasonably long. All in all it was a great experience and the Trust Buster cocktail was fantastic!
I had been to this place a few times when it first opened years ago. This was my first time back in about two years and unfortunately it made me recall why I stopped going. We went for dinner on a Wednesday night and has reservations. To start off it was very crowded. There is a seperate bar area, but the noise flows into the dining area. It was so loud we had to yell to each other. There were a lot of very large parties in the dining area. When we sat down, the waiter was pressuring us to order because he told us that he had a large table and wanted to put our order in before them as he would be busy. We ordered two of the squash soups, which arrived very quickly. I enjoyed the soup, my friend found the crunchy things in it (I think nuts) were bad. We did not get bread. I asked several other waiters for it, and finally after we had already finished our soup they brought out the bread which was the best part. I had a kale salad with salmon that I added to it. It was pretty decent. My friend had Risotto and did not enjoy it at all. The portions are small to be shared, I would really prefer having meals. The waiter never came back to check on us. We had to flag people down to get anything. It truly seemed like everyone in the place was focused on the larger groups and ignoring us. This was very similar to the last time I was at the location. It was also VERY warm and uncomfortable. I liked the salad and the bread, but I would order the salad out, I would not go back to dine in.
My second time at this restaurant and I’m sure I’ll be back! Great food - loved the butternut squash soup and the salmon salad. Nice atmosphere and wonderful service.
One of the worst service experiences we have ever endured. The manager was very apologetic and gave us a discount, but the evening was horrible.
The food was fantastic and the service was first rate. But it was noisy and the ambiance didn’t match the the cuisine, if that doesn’t sound too weird. I’d expect that cuisine served in a low light, dark wood, atmosphere. Instead it’s more like pizza joint.
This was my second visit to Teddy's, and I enjoyed it. I was not a fan of the fish tacos, it was bland.
The service was extremely slow. There was no attention to detail at all. I ordered a filet mignon but was served a New York strip steak instead. This really ruined my dinner as I'm not much of a steak person; it's filet or nothing. I also had to ask twice when ordering if the steak came with a side or was it al a cart. The waiter forgot to find out the first time the question was asked. We had to ask for a soup spoon after the food was served, therefore, allowing the dish to get cold while the the busboy, who didn't speak English, had to track someone down to find out what we were asking. The atmosphere is great, but that is the only good thing about this restaurant.
Have eaten here before but wanted to take our daughter. Dined early so no crowd. Food excellent, as always. Waiter friendly and informed. A wonderful experience.
We ate here for Christmas Dinner. We enjoyed the menu and the food was excellent.
4 people with drinks, taxes and tip was $235 for 2 adults and 2 kids.
Overall we’d like to come back for a separate dinner one day!
Awesome scenery and service.
Christmas Dinner was okay. Nothing memorable. Meats needed seasoning and salt. Salad offered during the first course was wilted. Tables were too close to each other. Basically ate with strangers as the server tried to squeeze through the no existing rows.
I truly have mixed feelings about this restaurant. It began with a dirty tablecloth followed by being asked to keep your used silverware after each course which was odd considering the prices. Based on the al la carte selections it is clear the chef is talented however bulk food preparation is not this restaurant’s strength. The main course and sides were buffet. Most of the food on the line was extremely cold. I asked the server to check to make sure sternos were lit to ensure hot food. I never went back for seconds. The cake served for dessert was not moist at all. All in all do not come here for buffet, the food lacked flavor. The descriptions were phenomenal problem is you cannot eat a description. I was truly disappointed from start to finish.
Excellent quality gourmet food. Wait staff was very professional and attentive.
Good deal for a three-course lunch. Nice place to sit and chat with friends.
Servers are terrible and there was a event on the main all without letting me know when I reserved.
I normally really like teddy and the bully bar but this time the branzino entree I had was mediocre and the portions were smaller than I remember. I think we all left hungry. When I’ve eaten at the bar and for lunch it’s been better. And the ambiance is generally nice and service is good.
My husband and I were displaced from our home for a few days due to a furnace repair. We were so delighted to find this DuPont circle area gem which serves up the most delicious brunches replete with amazing made to order waffles with fresh berries and whipping cream.
To die for!!!! highly recommend. They also have private rooms and the most delicious drinks to go with Your brunch.
Server (Randell) moves us from a table he did not like to the perfect day night table. Server (Randell) made some before drink suggestions which were awesome. His dinner suggestions were perfect. Portions are moderate and ingredients to taste were well balanced. Warm beets, smoked pumpkin risotto as side were a great preparation for the meal. Server (Randell) was also trading a new server and introduced her to us at the inception. Randell was the perfect ambassador for Teddy’s. He made the evening enjoyable.
This restaurant doesn't know what it wants to be when it grows up. The waiter tries to explain that it is like a tapas menu, but then the main courses are in the order of $18-$25. We all ordered just one main course, and other than the salad, they came in such small portions that they were hardly enough for dinner. Added to this, the service was inconsistent and confused. One waiter did this opening explanation on how the menu works, while another waiter ended up serving us. The appetizers came rapidly, but the main courses were much more delayed. We asked for water three times, and when they did show up, they kept pouring in our glasses, in a difficult to access table. Finally, we just had to ask them to put 2-3 bottles of water on the table for us so that we could actually get enough. Two of us ordered a 2nd glass of wine mid-meal, and it took 15 minutes for it to come, so it ended up coming with dessert. The only upside to this restaurant is the quiet -- good for a medium to large group that wants to talk.
