TE' Ratings and Reviews
Michelin graded restaurant that lives up to the reputation. If you want fantastic food and absolute pampering, eat there. The 9 course wine paired menu was outstanding. The entire experience took over four hours. The dessert was truly amazing but a little much after so many preceding courses. Would pare that course down a bit. Will
Be back for next special occasion.
The Degustation (tasting) menu was well well thought out. There were 9 main courses and 3 additional amuse-bouche (little bites) between the courses. The Carnivale course was very good, but the description seemed extensive or over the top.
The good: The ambiance was really good. The food presentation was very good, overall. Wine pairings were also very good.
The only so/so: The menu descriptions are extremely limited, so it is hard to know what you are getting. Food preparation was good, but there were a few items that were challenging to eat (and even cut). The Cuttlefish was nearly impossible to cut, as the knives were not sharp enough. There was rendered pancetta with the wild boar that were like little stones (read: way overcooked). There were a few times where children could be heard making noise in the hallway that was separated by a heavy curtain.
The disappointment: The first impression with the sparkling wine introduced as you sat down, seems wonderful, but it is certainly not part of the pricing, and should probably be. Additionally, generally with a tasting menu at a restaurant of this caliber, I would expect that the service be included in the price. This is not the case. Finally, two of the staff repeatedly stated mascarpone incorrectly. It should never be pronounced "marscapone" ever.
I would consider going again for the Prix Fixe menu.
Overall I would give it a solid 8/10.
From the time we entered until our check we felt like absolute royalty. Regal dining room; professional and attentive wait staff; with excellent food to boot. The intermezzo's were inventive and delicious as well as the main courses. We went for an anniversary and will certainly be back.
My adult son (a foodie) and I had a cause for celebration, so we dined at Te. I was glad that we did: It was an outstanding meal. I ordered the 5 course meal (with wine pairings) and he had the 9 course. Our server apologized that our courses would not line up evenly, but I was prepared for that because I don't eat as much as he does. Actually, it felt like a continual feed, anyway, with all the courses that we ordered plus many "extra bites" that they served. Dairy products were omitted, as requested, from my son's servings, and that went well, too. We had a long, delightful dinner and left feeling quite satiated. We'll probably go back for our next extra special occasion.
Fantastic dining experience! The service was top notch and the wait staff was very knowledgeable. One of the best meals I've had. We chose the 5 course Prix fixe menu with wine pairings and grand cheese trolley. All told it was more like 11 courses as the chef sent out an amuse bouche and intermezzi between each course. I marked it down 1 star because my duck had some gristle issues. I would have expected an adjustment in my bill but that didn't occur.
Wonderful meal! So much food that we couldn't eat it all and loved having different options for each course. Our server, Holly, was attentive and very courteous. We hope to return for another dining experience at TE in the near future. Well worth the drive and the price.
Went to Te for my 17th wedding anniversary. We had the 5 course menu with cheese and wine pairing added. It turned out to be an 11 course meal, and took 3 1/2 hours (which I didn't mind).
We were greeted and escorted to our table near the fireplace, offered a glass of champagne, and given our personalized menus. All of our servers were knowledgeable and very nice. We were definitely full by the end- the 5 courses listed, plus cheese, plus 4 little bites in between courses, and dessert was really 2 separate courses- that equals 11 different presentations to the table!!
Plus there was bread service- a waiter walking around with a basket of breads (focaccia was amazing). We indulged in the bread three times. After all that plus 8 drinks (5 with courses, 1 with cheese, champagne in beginning, and they gave non-alcoholic fancy juice before dessert course!) we were stuffed! Everything tasted and looked very good, not AMAZING, but very good.
The presentation and experience were so worth it though! Definitely a once in a lifetime experience. We spent $500- including tip. They sent us home with the menus and 2 wrapped up biscotti. My only negative is they didn't mention our anniversary or do anything special, even though they call you a few days before to ask if you're celebrating anything. I thought they would write Happy Anniversary on the menu or on dessert. A few standouts for me were the scallop and pork belly, lobster risotto, and the cheese course!! You pick from a cart of around 16 cheeses from France and Italy. You choose 4 for each person and they are decent size chunks added to a plate with honey, nuts, crostini, dried fruit. It all tasted so good!! A lovely evening!!
My husband and I don't get many opportunities for alone time, so when we do we want it to be incredibly memorable. The ambiance, staff and especially food couldn't have been more exquisite. Every dish was the best we have ever had. Everything is fit for Royalty which you will feel like while there.
The setting and dining experience at Te' is definitely worth your while. We celebrated NYE with good food, great dining experience and listened to a Harp player which was exceptional. I would not recommend the wine pairing as I felt we would of done better ordering a bottle of wine instead.. portions were minimal...
We celebrated my mother's birthday here and Te provided an unforgettable experience. We couldn't be more pleased. This is an absolute gold standard for service and quality.
The entire experience from start to finish was incredible. Every detail of your experience is prepped for and tended to. The personalized printed menus were a nice touch, as well as the parting gift bag.
We went to Te' to celebrate my wife's fiftieth birthday. It was an incredible experience for her. She appreciated the great explanations of the food and wine pairings, the presentation, the attentiveness of the staff and the surprise cake prepared for her to take home. This place is expensive, but it is a special experience and, in my mind, worth the expense.
Wow, this place is amazing. We were celebrating our anniversary and this was a special place to do it. We chose the 5-course prix-fixed menu with wine pairing. Each course was pretty small, but in addition to the 5 courses, the chef sent out a 1-2 bite canape in between the courses, so it was a lot of food for me. My husband wasn't full at the end of the meal, but he's a big eater. The food is all beautifully prepared and served and the ingredients were varied. The service was excellent and so incredibly polite. Because we were celebrating our anniversary, we were given an adorable small cake at the end that they boxed up for us (because I was too full to eat it) and they gave us some biscotti to eat in the morning. We gave the cake to my parents for watching the kids so I don't know about the flavor.
All in all, this was a great exprience. My only "complaint" is the cost. We spent about $450 for 2 people including food, wine, and tip. I have never spent so much on a meal in my life. But it was an experience. We were there for about 3.5 hours and we thoroughly enjoyed it.
The food presentation was outstanding and the quality of the food was right there too. Service was amazing. The staff was always available but never hovering. Sat at the chef's table so our experience was a little more unique. Amazing experience. Recommend trying the full nine course with wine pairings at least once.
TE' is a remarkable restaurant near Lancaster PA . From the moment the uniformed doorman greets you by name till you depart 3 hours later you are transported to a land of luxury . Every detail is exquisite: impeccable service, extraordinary food with 10 plus courses and delicacies created right before your eyes, and a superb wine list . This is a special special place.
No comparison to Inn at Little Washington or other great restaurants in NY, DC. All dishes lacked flavor, and every offering, less one, had an overly sweet sauce. Risotto was excellent but lobster froth topping was tasteless. Black truffle over escargot looked wonderful but again, no taste or fragrance. Lamb was dusted with fine Italian parsley but burnt to a black char and inedible. A large morel dressed one dish but again absolutely tasteless, probably rehydrated and at these prices this is certainly not a five star dining experience. Wines were good, but extra tiny treats from chef did not coordinate with wine, a timing issue. More effort on cooking, flavor and content, and less on the quantity of big white plates with microscopic servings would have been appreciated by diners as we noted by expressions on faces during our three hour stay. Servers were not the least concerned by our comments. Dessert was spread on a vinyl mat by the sous chef, the red sauce lacked flavor, the white was passable, but the other offerings were again lacking flavor, except the chocolate ball. Cookie offering was a nice touch but not when you choke on them due to being so dry and the pepper cookie needs to be served with a salad. We've just moved to the Lancaster area and were excited to try this so called 5 star restaurant, but will continue to make the drive to Patrick O'Connell's Inn at Little Washington, VA for a GREAT dining experience. If you don't care about great food and just want to dine in lovely surroundings then this is the place. Enjoy, sip a few good wines, but don't expect exception food.
Finding Te was a very pleasant surprise, having also enjoyed other Forbes 5 Star locations. Having had to find a nice hotel within the range of a friend's wedding, Expedia gave me The Inn at Leola Village, home to Te. Prior to our arrival, I decided to make reservations for Saturday night, and found an amazing menu. Thankfully, we just slid in under the wire for an 8pm seating, and had one of the most memorable meals in recent history, unbelievably in an area not known for such a location. The service was impeccable, and with such a small staff and number of tables (seven), their personalized approach to our experience was absolutely fantastic. Food, service, location, ambiance... I must agree with Forbes assignation of their 5 stars. We will return. With more friends next time!
My wife and I went here for our anniversary dinner last weekend and could not have been more pleased. Our expectations were exceeded even after reading so many positive reviews beforehand. The moment we walked in the front doors the attentive service started, and did not end until we left 3 hours later. I am not going into all of the details, but I will say that this was a wonderful and memorable experience, full of little surprises. I am not a big wine drinker but we did include the pairings and I would strongly recommend it. It added so much to the overall experience, and each glass was delicious. You won't get out of this place for under $500 per couple (including gratuity), but hopefully you will feel like it was well worth it as we did. What a treat having this place so close to home. Evidently one of very few places across the country to have both AAA 5 Diamond and Forbes 5 Star ratings. By the way, we decided on the 5 course selection and we both left fully satisfied, so don't let the small portion sizes fool you.
The service is impeccable and the food is fit for foodies. I didn't necessarily like every dish, but I was glad I tried it - I'm talking about you, foie gras and octopus. The wine was very good and the dessert was quite a treat. Great for special occasions. Everyone was just so nice. It is expensive.
This is THE place to celebrate a special occasion....or just life! We enjoyed very much our five-course tasting menu complimented by a wine pairing. The sommelier was friendly and offered just enough explanation of each offering.
The meal was added to with complimentary chef tastings. The most memorable was our first course which was called some type of "fondue" although unlike anything you could imagine. There was a morsel gift wrapped in a paper package with ribbon to be unwrapped and dipped into a delectable sauce. Delish as well as extremely creatively presented.
Each course was photographic and wonderful with one exception: the sweetbreads. There were literally tiny crumbs of them in a mixture. When the waiter asked how we liked them, I mentioned that we were unhappy with the sweetbread portion. He offered to make us another but oddly enough, the new dish was identical to the first. That was a disappointment and not , of course in keeping with our expectations of our dining experience.
Service was very good for the most part. I remember silverware such as a knife not always automatically replaced.
All in all, a wonderful dining experience which lasted 4 1/2 hours!
The food, atmosphere and service staff all add up to a one of kind dinning experience.
If you are an adventurous diner, this is the place to go.
If you are in a hurry and like to eat and run, you should probably go elsewhere.
But if you like to linger over an outstanding meal, fine wine and luscious surroundings, then
make a reservation and see what fine dinning is really all about.
