Additionally, chef-owner David Schneider appeared on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" in April 2011 going head-to-head with Iron Chef Cat Cora.
Simply said, it was the best Greek 🇬🇷 food that I’ve had in the US.
The food was good overall. Beware, the restaurant imposes a 22% gratuity including on wine bottles. The wine service was less than stellar as they never came back to pour wine during the meal. When I discussed it upon receiving the bill, instead of offering an apology, I was told that the gratuity is not just for the server but for all the service staff. When imposing a mandatory gratuity, one would expect impeccable service.
Dinner on the deck was great! It was rather warm with all the heaters on, but they were quick to turn them off. Dinner was delicious and service was attentive.
Excellent food and an interesting menu in a delightful storefront. Really appreciate the lack of music - you don't have that too often.
Recommend the fried cauliflower appetizer and the duck gyros. Both were standouts and the flavors were incredible.
Service was friendly but got a bit slow when it was time for the bill to come. Otherwise impeccable.
The food was delicious. We ordered 4 small plates, 2 mains and desert for 4 people. Each plate has a unique taste which I appreciated. Loved the octopus and green lentil as appetizers as well as the duck gyro and pork main. loukhoumades desert finished the meal beautifully. Not too sweet. Unique.
Service was exceptional. Definitely recommend to try. Parking was super easy too.
Delicious food but sit on roof deck, that's where the dining ambiance is.
Perfectly taken care of; fantastic food. A wonderful birthday meal!
The food is always great here, unique and really well balanced.
Nice table by the window second floor
Amazing service & the food + drinks were outstanding
Good drinks, nice ambiance, good food. (As is everywhere right now), it seemed understaffed so service was slow and it wasn’t as clean as one might hope. That said, it was good. Would go back for a relaxed night with friends.
One of our favorite restaurants in Wicker Park. The cuisine is so consistent and delicious! Our server, James, is so attentive and kind.
Thanks for providing an amazing dining experience for me and my girlfriend.
Server was inattentive and very slow. I was made to give 22% gratuity by mgmt as they included it in the bill. Had the service been better, I would have no problem. Disappointed and not going back again.
Great place! Service was 4/5 stars. Only glitch was when our appetizers were delivered we asked the server of our appetizers to send our waitress so we could our entrees. Appetizers were delish! Ordered the mashed chick peas and the leek/goat cheese pastry. So tasty!!! Amount was perfect! Both appetizers served at the ideal temperature for them!! Chickpeas at room temperature and leek/goat cheese pastry served nice and hot! For our mains my husband and I ordered the pork souvlaki! So good! The souvlaki was served in a bed of yogurt with capers and fries! Fries were the best I’ve had! Hot, tasty, crispy! Our waitress made some great recommendations for wine which my husband and I both enjoyed! Hubby and I are dessert people so did not order any! Looking forward to bringing our family here! Great date night!
Food was good, although a bit more expensive than I would like for Greek fare. I will say the wine pours need an adjustment - to the positive. Will go back.
The tzatziki and shrimp dolmades were rly good. The service was a little slow. The Septem beers were good. I got the honey ale.
Outstanding menu with largest selection of dishes, for all types of eaters. Lamb Chops were excellent.
The service was pretty good, no complaints. The food, which looked good on the menu, was rather mediocre and way overpriced.
This is a very busy neighborhood with no public parking available. We checked the website prior to our reservation. The website indicated there was valet by parking which there was not. We would have arranged other transportation if the website was accurate. The staff was apologetic but offered us no assistance in either finding a place to park or offering anything to us for the inconvenience. They merely stated “we have not had time to update the website”. The restaurant itself is cute. The server could not really describe the dishes which need explanation and the food was just ok. This is not a must try.
Wonderfully fresh and grilled foods! Great rooftop area in a neighborhood that doesn’t really have one. Will be back again for more.
Service was quite slow, as our server was also bartending. But the food was delicious, especially the lamb!
Omg! We came across this place unintentionally and it was AMAZING from start to finish!! I can’t believe how good this food was. We had the cauliflower, lamb shank, and dumpling dessert. Every single item was cooked, seasoned, marinated to perfection. Great plates for sharing- and they encourage this! Will be back. We sat on the rooftop and it was just a lovely ambiance
Delightful fresh Greek food and very unique vs the 20 + Greek restaurants in Greektown and elsewhere that serve the same 20 things. Taxim menu is very interesting and each item was fresh and well prepared and presented especially as if they had only cooked it for us. We wish there was more information about the vast array of Greek wines so one can select "something that tastes like a Merlot etc" although our dining guide, Ashley, was very helpful and the wine she recommended was grand. We liked everything we chose, with her help, and despite only having 90 minutes we didn't feel rushed. We had one unfortunate incident when we opened the second "set up" for our main courses we found someone's hair within; the good news it hadn't touched any of the food.
no a/c indoors, pick the rooftop if you can. uncomfortable ambiance.
Really incredible and imaginative dishes. Highly recommend sharing with the table and taking recommendations from the staff.
My wife and I enjoyed a delicious meal at Taxim last evening. Their menu includes a number of eclectic dishes, for of which we enjoyed. We will return
Amazing food, prompt efficient service. Covered rooftop allows for covid - friendly outdoor dining but somehow makes it super- loud
Amazing food! Fresh and creative with great touches to every dish.
Thanks so much for such a pleasant dining experience. The server was very attentive and thoughtful. Food suggested was terrific. Will certainly return especially since I've been living in the neighborhood.
Delicious unique Greek food. Only complaint was their air conditioning was not working very well on a hot night. Otherwise we enjoyed everything we ordered and our server was very nice and personable
Very good experience - loved the scene on the roof and the service was superior.
The food was terrific as always and they had fans so it was very comfortable even though it was hot outside. Our server was lovely but I think she was just overextended so we waited a while before getting served. The chicken is one of the best things on the menu but everything was delicious.
Poor service that only brought water to the table when we hunted them down. The staff does an excellent job of moving about the restaurant with their heads down so they don't see you waiving for them and it is too loud for them to hear you calling to them. The restaurant "specializes" in small plates to share yet they don't provide a serving utensil with the dishes - you would think in a pandemic they would think about the need to provide a utensil that nobody is putting in their mouth. Food was very oily and just fair. They also automatically add a 22% after-tax gratuity for the staff that you cannot opt out of so it seems the staff doesn't make the effort to earn their tip. Won't go back.
We dined with a group of 7 of us on a Saturday. It was everyone’s first time there. The our server was wonderful and helped us order the right amount of food for our large group. The food was AMAZING… flavors were out of this world. Definitely will be back!
The food is always amazing
Very disappointing experience.
The food here was AMAZING however the service was not very good. I don’t blame the server as there seemed to be just one person serving however, our table was kind of neglected we didn’t get one of our drinks until our food was basically served and it was hard to get ahold of our server. Again, not the servers fault. And then when paying there was already a 22% tip included. I get adding gratuity of 18 or 20% but 22%! I probably would have tipped that much anyway but I did not appreciate the gratuity already being included and then not letting us know that it was already included.
The food was fabulous. Small plates, main, desserts, wine
Our server James was terrific. Man he really works hard!!
