Taxim, which is located in Chicago's Wicker Park neighborhood, features regionally-inspired Greek dishes paired with an all-Greek wine list. The stunning dining room is fitted with soaring 16-foot ceilings, travertine marble floors, dramatic Byzantine-style lamps and artwork, and the rooftop dining area lined with Greek flowering herbs.

The restaurant was chosen as one of of Chicago's Best New Restaurants in 2009/2010 by the Chicago Tribune, Chicago Magazine and the Chicago Reader. Additionally, Taxim's housemade yogurt with young favas and lamb confit was selected as one of the Best Bites of 2009 by the Chicago Reader, the house-cured sardines were mentioned in Time Out Chicago's 2009 "100 Best Things We Ate (and drank) This Year" feature, and the wood-grilled octopus was selected as 2010's "Best New Dish" by Chicago magazine. Additionally, chef-owner David Schneider appeared on the Food Network's "Iron Chef America" in April 2011 going head-to-head with Iron Chef Cat Cora.

We had an early dinner prior to a nearby show. Wonderful menu of various regional Greek dishes. Some we were familiar with many we were not and very pleasantly surprised. Offers a wide variety of small plates along with full dinners. The rooftop seating wasn’t open yet so we will be back to check that out next time. Arabella, our waitress, made spot on suggestions and was awesome.

Once again Taxim hits it out of the park! We traveled to Greece last week and decided to keep the food theme going with MORE Greek food! Amazing!

Sadly, there was one server for the entire rooftop patio and almost every table was full. The server said that is their new normal to save money. We ordered a glass of house wine. The server didn't tell us there is no longer a house wine and they randomly picked a wine from the menu and charged more than what the listed price was -- $19 for a glass of house wine. Because the single server also had to our drinks, our wine came well after the food even though we ordered drinks before ordering food. We like the food at Taxim, but there are too many good restaurants in Chicago to want to go back to this one. Bummer!

Greek Easter was AMAZING! Guests got treated to a sumptuous feast with all the traditional dishes Excellent wine list too Eat upstairs weather permitting or downstairs, you’ll love every bite and will definitely return The atmosphere is always very upbeat and lively This is such a unique escape, you’ll think you’re dining in another part of the world Favors really take you to delicious realm's. Can’t wait to stop in again.

We enjoyed our meal here. I will say once it got busy, the service was slow. We had to wait over 15 minutes just to get our waiters attention to get our check. It was a little odd that they automatically apply a 20% tip no matter what your party size. That rubbed me the wrong way a little bit. So keep an eye out on your bill, I’m glad I saw it when I went to pay. The Souvlakia entree was delicious and the best thing we ate the entire night. We also got the hummus, the Prassopita (which is like their version of Spanakopita), and the Kebap Yiaourtlou (ground lamb shoulder). My boyfriend got a beer and I got a cocktail (didn’t love it).

Overall was good. The service was excellent and food selection and quality was really good. The restaurant decor and ambience are cute too but unfortunately the building structure is such that echos the sound. It's extremely loud particularly if you have loud people sitting next to your table. It was hard for us to enjoy the dine out experience when the atmosphere wasn't relaxing.

It’s been a bit, but definitely have to add this to our rotation. Amazing! You can definitely tell the chef STILL cares! Each bite is like taking a trip to Europe 🇬🇷
