Tavolo Wine Bar & Tuscan Grille (fka d. carlo Trattoria)
The food was very good as usual but this night the service was lacking. Drinks were slow to arrive, then we were half way done our dinner before we had a chance to order a glass of wine, purportedly to have with dinner!
Consistently excellent. Great food, super service in a warm comfortable atmosphere.
The food is always consistently great. The service is always excellent. Love this place!
We have been here several times in the past 6 months. Originally discovered it because U bought a Groupon. We keep coming back because the food is exceptional the servers are personable and all in all it is a wonderful experience. Who needs Federal Hill when there is Tavolo in Smithfield. (Confession we have eaten at Tavolo on Federal Hill which is excellent but I prefer Smithfield)
Everything was good but table we sat at was in middle of room and every time the door opened there was a cold draft that came into dining room right at our table
6 of us friends went out for New Year's Eve dinner. We had reservations for 8:15. We did have to wait for about 1/2 hour even though we had reservations, but considering it was busy, we just went to the bar for a drink. Our meal was delicious and our waitress was wonderful. We sat at a table near the bar so it was very tight and loud. The only thing I was disappointed about was the $7 price for a side order of mashed potatoes. A little pricey for a scoop of potatoes. Everything else was great.
I'd Tavolo's in Smithfield on New Year's and I have eaten here a number of times an rarely been disappointed. The food rarely disappoints and it was great this time. The modest issue here was the long wait (which relates to planning on the restaraunt's side) for our reservation (30+ mins!) and the somewhat harrowed wait staff. I will chalk that up to it being New Year's eve, and will be back.
New Years eve
Are there on New Years Eve. Reservation ran late due to size of parties but staff kept us well informed. Once seated staff ensured that we were taken care of and did not rush us out. Been there several times and this experience was no different than a non holiday night out
New Year Eve, we found this restaurant on Open Table and decided to give it a try. What a great decision! The food was delicious, service was outstanding and all was at a reasonable price!
New Year’s Eve &Wedding Anniversary
Great dining experience on NYE! Food and service was outstanding!
A great place to go on New Year's Eve when you want to order off the regular menu. Filet mignon was excellent. The wine list included a nice variety. Our waitress was great, very attentive and personable.
The waitress provided the best service I have ever received at a restaurant, and the food was exceptional.
This place is always great. My girlfriend and I go here for birthdays, Valentine's Day, etc. We come here specifically for the fried risotto balls but everything on the menu is good. Service is always great.
This place is fabulous. The food is great, wine selection is amazing, the staff is super and nice atmosphere. The owners are fantastic, always there working side by side with their staff.
Excellent sevice and food. Three of us had seard scallops, sword fish and veal chop. Each was perfectly done. We had to wait 20 minutes past our reservation time.....but it was Christmas Eve....and spent that time seated at the bar talking with other diners. Overall experience - excellent!
Well even though when I made the reservation I checked off Birthday nothing was acknowledged by the waitress. I mentioned it to her and she said I’ll bring you the dessert menu. I realize that it was a very busy night but I think at least an acknowledgement would have been nice. Can’t help if my wife was born on Christmas Eve.
The food as well as the service was outstanding. Everyone at our table was happy with their meal and no one left hungry. The overall dining experience was pleasant, not rushed at all. Would highly recommend this restaurant
Food was very good. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we especially like that we could converse. The waitress was excellent.
Entrees and desserts were very good. Expresso was a disappointment: expresso cup had no saucer, no twist of lemon, and I think it was microwaved. I recommend a better grade of coffee. Service was very efficient, although a little abrupt.
Service along with food was exceptional.
Excellent lunch specials.
Highly recommend this restaurant for either lunch or dinner.
We really enjoy Tavolo! You'll find some of the best food and service within the Black Stone Valley. The wine and draft beer selection is very good and parking is easy. We'll be returning soon. Thanks Tavolo
We liked the visit, although I did not like the food that I chose. My husband and son liked their choices. The ambiance was pleasant after a rather loud group left. I chose steak and fries with truffle oil of which the steak was awesome. The fries were terrible. Greasy and strongly salty. I did not eat them. The server was great, although the service was slow and had limited service due to, I guess, that it was a Monday. They should work to muffle the noise. I would go again. Overall we enjoyed the visit. Overall, it was worth the visit because of the great wine selection.
Great food. Outstanding wine selection. Great atmosphere. Service left a little to be desired, however staff was very affable.
Always good, local, good service, nice food and wine selection.
Brussel sprouts and the porcini purses were exceptional!
My girlfriend and I have been here 5 or 6 times and we love coming here for our date nights away from the baby. The Server was very attentive and cocktails were out quick. Tavolo offers incredibly nice wines by the glass and flights are always fun to try. We decided to go with a bottle of the Bledsoe Wine Special and highly recommend it. The nice gentleman with the chef coat gave some other great recommendations that I want to try next time. The Ribeye special was spot on prefect and the bolognese is always so good. The only reason I can't give a 5 star is the shockingly rude hostess. Rude enough for us to contemplate leaving and trying to find a new place to go on our date nights... Once you get by the hostess station everything is so perfect though. Definitely going to bring some friends in to try the awesome food and wine flights.
Nice menu choices- great tasting flatbread enjoyed the salmon entree, but veal could have been better
30 minute wait for a reservation, shoved in a crappy corner in the back of the restaurant, appetizers were below average, overpriced for poor quality meat that wasn’t cooked properly, very disappointed. Waitress was really nice though. The bottle of wine was fantastic!
Great meal and service. Went with friends and all enoyed!
This restaurant is generally my favorite and worth the 30 mile drive. Nevertheless, on Monday it failed to live up to its usual outstanding mark. I usually visit on Thursday through Sunday. Unfortunately the weeknight bartender couldnt create cocktails as good as weekender. She tried and I respect that. Bread was no match for the weekend bread. Cut thin and somewhat stale. Server didn’t thank us after the bill was paid. All other food was excellent. I love this place. Sorry for knitpicking. I usually praise it considerably.
We go often, the food is great, drinks are great!! Our waitress Cheryl is amazing. She is great! Always a good experience and great food!
As always our dinner was delicious, the service was impeccable and the atmosphere lovely.
Filet mignon is simply outstanding and service and atmosphere were great. As a foodie I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great dining experience. Ate around 4pm. Wife and I had the steak/scallop special - cooked perfectly. The calamari app with hot peppers was excellent. Kids had the burgers and Sunday pasta dish. All good. Would definitely go again. Service was attentive and friendly. Ambiance was casual and relaxed. Thank you.
Thanksgiving. First year of not cooking for the whole family.. I made the reservation for my mother in law, my husband, and my two adult boys. Our reservation was at 2:15 and we were seated at about 3pm. There was one table that had over 20 people that consumed the area. I don’t think the restaurant took into account that after Thanksgiving Dinner people usually like to chill and talk-so maybe that was why it was so hectic. The hostess was very apologetic and I accepted that these things can happen. We were seated and all chose the Turkey Dinner. We got bread and all ordered the soups which were excellent. Most of us finished our soup and the bowls were taken. My son was not finished but got up to use the restroom. We were busy talking and before you know it a female came and took my son’s soup without asking if he was finished. We all just stared at each other and when my son came back I said “I hope you were done with your soup.” He wasn’t. Our meals came and was pretty good I thought. Butternut squash was good, as well as the stuffing. The turkey was served “pull” style. My mother in law did not like this. There were surprise bones etc. A small amount of gravy was sprinkled on the top of turkey. Potatoes were okay. I turned to my mother in law who is 85 & stated she would have eaten the potatoes but there was no gravy. No one looked like they were available to get gravy for her. This is a woman who loves to eat and was looking forward to her 1st restaurant Thanksgiving. We took our leftovers home and she did not. Personally, I thought the servers were overwhelmed and so was the hostess (who did the best she could). There was no real personal attention from servers. The turkey should have been served in larger pieces and not pulled from turkey. It didn’t look appetizing. We were all kind of surprised. My son said it looked like it belonged in soup. I usually love the food here but will not be visiting again for a holiday.
We were there early for a drink and stayed for dinner. Nice selection of wines and food. Good service made it easy to share a quiet conversation.
Everything was great from the food to the drinks. Great experience and great atmosphere.
WE had a pleasant dinner at Tavolo the Risotto Balls were outrageously good and the Bolognese with the burratta ravioli was fabulous
