We were in Tucson, wanted some good Italian food during the pandemic, and wanted to avoid dinner crowds (for obvious reasons - right now), so tried an early (late afternoon) dinner at Tavolino. The food is always good - Orachiette and Tagliata in this case - and the waitstaff was perfect for these times. We ate outside - (around 4:00 - a little early for us, but part of the current strategy) and it was quiet, the service was attentive, superb in fact, and the food was very very good. Table spacing was also well thought out, the waitstaff well trained, and I'd have to say that we'll be back and help to keep good restaurants like this afloat until the Covid pandemic gets under control. Plus, the food is always good here, no matter what we've tried.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner for my wife . As always Jack our waiter was excellent. We visited almost every week .
First time there; great dining experience. Recommend trying it out.
Went here for our wedding anniversary and sat inside. Due to COVID seating restrictions, there was plenty of space between diners and the noise level was low.
Delish! Creme Caramel best ever ! Also wonderful salad with beets.
Driving through Tucson on our way back to LA. Hesitant about eating in a restaurant due to COVID-19. No problems here. Beautiful outdoor patio, not many diners, we felt safe. Bartender made a great old-fashion! We had the arugula salad, burrata pizza and pizza margherita. All were great. I probably wouldn’t get the burrata pizza again just because I like my pizza a bit crispier and the cheeses doesn’t allow for it. Pasta Bolognese was excellent and so was the veal piccata. Will definitely go back when we drive through!
Our most recent experience at Tavolino's was wonderful. However, since we are "at risk" we purposely chose to dine outdoors on their patio. We were disappointed to find that the patio is completely enclosed, therefore defeating the purpose of eating outdoors with full outdoor ventilation. I understand that the outside temperature will soon be problematic to outdoor dining, but I'm afraid that until the pandemic is better controlled through a vaccine we will not be able to dine here again.
The octopus was very good, the Brussels sprouts as well. The server was appropriately attentive, just not sure why he would not answer my inquiry about the type of pepper, told me twice “I’m checking on that.” In rereading the menu, I see “Calabrian”... small thing...
Service was fantastic. I had the veal picatta. It was a little tough and the sauteed spinach was a bit too salty.
I loved this restaurant! The ambiance was perfect, the service was excellent, and the food was incredible! This was a perfect place to celebrate my birthday and will definitely be coming back.
Food was really good. They gave my mom a happy birthday dessert.
I chose the noise level as "energetic" because there was a very young child, being loud, with adults who ignored her behavior.
Other than that, it would've been a very quiet evening.
Our favorite Italian restaurant certainly, and perhaps favorite restaurant, this side of Italy or France.
Went to Tavolino for my birthday. The ambiance was great to have an intimate conversation with my wife. Food and the service was awesome. I will definitely return.
The only reason for less than 5 stars in a couple categories is just because of how things need to be set up for Covid. Not the same feeling as before but they are doing the best job under the circumstances! Food and service fabulous as always.
The restaurant itself and service was great however the quality of the food was beyond disappointing and felt that for the level of the restaurant that this is the food tasted reheated and not fresh.
This is one of our favorite restaurants and we especially like the house Wines. This is one of the best go to Italian restaurant in Tucson.
Our experience was uneven. The greeting/seating was not welcoming, but we had a great table. Our server, Jack, immediately reversed my initial feeling. The hot bread, charred in the pizza oven, was delicious. We shared the Panzanella salad, and it was fabulous. I ordered the veal piccata, and I was delighted with the flavors. My husband was a bit dissatisfied by the Fruita Del Mar Spaghetti. He felt it could have been far more flavorful. We finished dinner with chocolate custard, and it was richly delicious. So overall, I will say, we will be back.
Best and most authentic Italian restaurant in Tucson. The menu has many things you wont see elsewhere and many things from the olive oil, pizza crust and even some of the wines are imported or proprietary secrets from family relations in Italy. The patio at night will remind you of a wonderful memory in Italy if you've ever been there. Fine dining is not easy to find in Tucson but you will find it here.
Great meal! Not pressured to leave. Very relaxing!
We so enjoyed our meal. Very accommodating to some changes we asked for without hesitation. We had a great time and highly recommend Tavolino's.
Server was very slow, food was Amazing. Would eat there again
Service was great, food was great except for the pork chop—it was a tad dry.
This was probably our 20th visit to Tavolino and we have never been disappointed. I cannot say that about any other restaurant that we have visited.
I was disappointed with the food. It was flavorless, the pasta was overcooked. The service was great no complaints there.
great dinner, service and ambiance, next time will try the outdoor.
Our dinner was incredible. Great portions and done just like we ordered our food. We had to wait to have some one wait on us, which we had to ask a bus boy to find our waiter..only hitch.
Our second time here, and still excellent; great service and food, and an excellent outdoor ambience during COVID
This will be our new favorite Italian spot in Tucson! The food and drinks were great and the pricing was reasonable.
Wonderful experience as always
Nice spot. Very good food
We were a party of 7 and all very pleased with our dinners. Excellent food, wine, service and ambience.
This was our first outing since last March and Tavolino came through. Excellent wait staff who fully complied with safety requirements while maintaining gracious service. Very reliable restaurant over the years.
food and service was great! Would dine there again!
The food was delicious. Our server was attentive but not overly intrusive. He helped us select a reasonable bottle of wine that we enjoyed. We loved being able to make patio seating reservations. Our table wasn’t ready when we arrived but we didn’t have to wait long. Great experience overall. Would love to come back next time I’m in town!
We sat outside in the evening, overlooking the courtyard. The ambiance was lovely and relaxing. The lighting was low, there was nice candlelight on our table, and the courtyard view was pleasant. We both ordered the Bistecca alla Tagliata, or steak with arugula salad topped with gorgonzola. At home, we often grill steak and serve it with arugula salad w/gorgonzola but unfortunately, ours at home is much better. Their steak was well seasoned with a very good flavor but I found it very dry, even though it was medium rare. The salad was also very dry. I had to add extra olive oil to it, but I'm not sure it was dressed at all. The meal was good and we finished it, but I wouldn't order it again. To drink, we ordered the pinot noir by the glass and it was very good. Overall, I would go there again because the outdoor seating area was very nice, but I would try a different meal next time.
Lovely service,excellent cocktails. Great location
During Covid it is nice to have a restaurant that follows CDC guidelines with table spacing, mask wearing and cleanliness. The service was efficient but not rushed. The ravoli with beets was great for 2 to have as an appetizer. Wine costs were reasonable but we were disappointed that they discontinued the 1/2 price wine promotion. We have always had great meals at Tavalino.
