Nice place for food. Great for date night, good wine list, and GF options
Loved our dinner Saturday night. Easy to make an online reservation and the host who seated us couldn't have been nicer. Would highly recommend Tavolino
Friendly staff and lovely restaurant but way too noisy. Will not return
One of the few consistently good restaurants in Tucson . I know that is subjective but we eat out a lot, have been to Italy and coming from NY and being an East coast Italian has to count for something? No? Lol.. service was good, never felt rushed. ( a big Italian No No ) Wish the menu had more variety. ( again subjective ) or mix it up or change it once in a while... Gets noisy at night when crowded, but is a good lunch destination too when it is quieter. Probably the best Italian restaurant in Tucson. ( which really does not have that many that are not Pizza places or bar types that cater to the college crowd. ) Will be back for sure. Ciao! Ciao!
We had a waiter that provided exceptional service. His suggestion to change penne for tagliatelle with Italian sausage set up the whole meal. Nice salad and well priced wine completed the dinner. He took extra time to ensure we could take home the bottle of still water.
Looking for great service? Ask for Chris!!
Delicious food, knowledgeable friendly staff
We went there for our anniversary and it was our second time to dine there. It was as outstanding as the first time! We ordered different meals, so have tried the salmon, NY steak, grilled gnocchi, pasta with green beans and pesto, salads, and tiramisu. Wine list is exceptional. The Negroni is excellent. The wait staff is perfect.
Our waiter was terrific giving us suggestions that were not on the menu, but a great combination of foods.
We had requested outside sitting. The weather took a turn for the worse. We were the only table out there. Our request to be re-seated inside was never really addressed. Our food was delayed and when we finally did get our food (which was good BTW)...we quickly ate because the person serving our food did not know about our request to be re-seated inside...and we did not want our food to get cold.
What a special place! Beautiful decor, excellent service, calm and relaxing at lunch, and extra service touches-- e.g. while I was in the restroom, my napkin was refolded and placed on the plate; was offered a black napkin for my black clothing. The bread was exceptional and hard to resist devouring it all; arugula, beet and goat cheese salad was excellent. Pizza with sausage, mushrooms and artichokes was wonderful with a thin crust that had great flavor and texture. This is our new favorite in Tucson and will look forward to returning when we visit the area again next year.
Good service and great value. Always eat here when I’m in Tucson.
This is our favorite restaurant in all of Tucson, so yes, we recommend Tavolino all the time!
Our first time at Tavolino Ristorante. We really enjoyed the food, wait staff, and the ambiance. We were with two friends that lived in Italy and they were very impressed as well. We will definitely be customers again in the future.
I brought my Italian girlfriend for dinner, and she was not impressed. I too was underwhelmed. The food is overpriced, and the menu nor service was nothing special. The ambiance is fine. But my main problem is that the food is overpriced. Overall I had a nice experience, but it was not worth the price I paid. (Entrees $30+) I will not be returning.
Food was excellent. Sat outside in a lovely Tucson evening. Very good service.
Food good; service good; excellent menu; very nice place! Noise was a problem. Conversation at the table difficult.
We had an early weekend lunch with the kids and the grandparents. Everyone found something they liked, including our vegan and milk intolerant people. The service was excellent.
My friend and I shared the burrata (which was excellent), the Tagliatelle all Bolognese (the homemade pasta was delish, but the sauce left a lot to be desired with a lack of flavor), and the Branzino Grigliato (which was good but not special). The presentation of the dishes was beautiful without exception, including dishes passing us to be served to other diners. The staff was competent, but a bit cold and stiff. Having said all this, it is located in a lovely setting, and would be good for special occasions -- the ambience is quite nice.
Date night with my wife.
We were 20 minutes late but I called and told them that we would be late. Was told that was ok.
This was our first time here and was confused upon seeing their sign on the wall and parking only to walk around to the other side of the center to enter restaurant.
I don’t know why we were not able to sit inside. There seemed to be plenty of open tables. But was taken outside on a dingy looking patio with plastic windows and no light.
Service was very good when we had it.
Was told that our meals were slow because everyone else ordered at the same time.???
The best thing about our meal was the beet salad that we shared.
My wife ordered veal and it was cold.
Food was good but the smell in the restaurant was not.
Went on a Saturday night. Incredibly loud environment. Truly impossible to hear the person sitting across from me. Outrageously loud in there. Delicious food, though!
Absolutely wonderful evening. Love having this beautifully authentic Italian restaurant in Tucson!
Wife’s birthday was an enjoyable time
Nothing special, actually bland food. Service was outstanding. Will not return due to food, which is disappointing as service is fantastic. And we highly value good service. We didn’t go deep in menu, was our first try of this spot, tried very basics that are indicators. Bolognese and Lasagna were ordered to get a sense for the quality of food, as noted above very average to below, lots better in Tucson.
The noise level was so loud the 4 of us could barely converse. The food was good but not great. We had appetizers and pasta and seconding dishes. I felt the wine was overpriced. Service was the best part. I like Tavolino having been there before.
Dined here while visiting Tucson from out of town. I had the lasagne, which was a generous and flavorful portion. It was, however, just a big plate of lasagna. It really could have been maybe 3/4 of the size with a small side salad or something to give it just a little variety. As it was, the portion was large enough that I was glad I didn’t order a separate side salad, which I would have been too much.
I had the gelato for dessert, and it was very good. The Nutella flavor was especially tasty.
Excellent food and wine. Service A+
Outside the fact this is a five-star restaurant, their pizza wasn’t quite what I expected. I was expecting somewhat like Scordato‘s restaurant here in Tucson.
just OK. Great space. Food very average. The service was not impressive.
Drink (Canadian whiskey + 7up) was excellent. Tortellini was "fluffier" than I would have expected, although passable. Substituted creamy white wine sauce for tomato was fine.
The food was mediocre. The service was slow. So slow in fact they gave us a coupon for $10 off our next meal- we won’t be using that. As per the ambiance, the restaurant had an odd smell. We will not be returning and would not recommend this restaurant to others.
Just dined at Tavolino twice in 36 hours. I arranged for a group of 12 to have lunch one day; and then a friend suggested we meet for dinner the next evening. Both experiences were wonderful! The menus are different; so you have a completely different meal for each occasion.
Service for 12 was perfect with separate checks! For dinner, we tried Osso Bucco and the Branzino, both were excellent, and once again the service was perfect.
Had a delightful llunch. Their Insalate di Pollo is wonderful as expressed by my two companions and myself. The dining room is not too open which makes for a cozy atmosphere.
It was a good experience. I liked how they split the portions when you said you were sharing with a date. All of the food was really good.
Hi!! Everything was very good...
One problem is that they accepted our reservation at 815 and we were seated after 840... it was crowded... but Food delicious...
Everything at Tavolino was amazing- from the atmosphere, to the food, to the service! Always our go to restaurant when in the Foothills!
Celebrated my sitters birthday and really enjoyed our dinner , service and ambiance
Our waitress, Danielle was outstanding.
Not our first time at Tavolino. Party of 6, about 15 minutes after reservation time before finally seated near the bar and our waiter was both waiter and bartender he said. Although he was pleasant, the delays grew at our table and apparently we had the misfortune of having our dinner order fall behind other large groups. Asked for bread 3 times as the wait for dinner grew and grew...finally, a manager came over and introduced himself and apologized for the delay, etc. The dinners finally came out and it always gripes me when my dinner is given to 3 different people at the table who stare at it awhile before they realize it isn’t what they ordered. I thought there was a system for food delivery.... Although the food was good the delay for dinner was extreme (and they knew it) and it just seemed like a free desert or SOMETHING would have been called for. We had out of town guests and it was just disappointing. We survived.
Everything was great.! Great location..food was excellent!! No issues at all. Frank was our server and he was awesome. He knew the menu very well and the wines AND beers. Great environment with the dim lighting. Overall great experience. Will be back for sure
