Booooo.
Extremely slight portions of proteins or sauces on every dish = poor value.
Examples:
1. pappardelle with meat ragu = 1 Tablespoon of sauce and meat.
2. Prawns and pasta had 2 small prawns cut into six pieces and kitchen apologizes because there should have been 3 prawns cut into 9 pieces. Hahahahaha come on.
3. 3 scallops - not jumbo scallops on an entree plate as the entree with a Tablespoon and a half of rice and 2 pine nuts halved.
4. 3 chicken meatballs in a huge bowl of spaghetti with no sauce, it was tossed in sauce and put into the bowl and was dry.
Our dinners and desserts were served 15 minutes apart. We waited 20 minutes after being seated to even be acknowledged and that wasn’t even by our server. Our server was sweet but there is clearly no team here.
Overall the pasta was good but he value is terrible and two dishes were grossly over salted while one had no seasoning at all. The scallops weren’t properly seared on both sides resulting in slightly under cooked centers.
To round out amateur night they hyped a champagne gelato which one would assume the champagne is poured over the top, after we ordered and expected to see it on the table after a 20 minute wait, the rest of the desserts were brought and our friend was then told they couldn’t giver her that dessert because the champagne didn’t freeze. Well duh.
The spicy Rigatoni was the only really good dish on the menu. The wine list is very good but with a 110-125% markup so be prepared.
As a lover of great food, a defender of great restaurants... I must say... Unless you are dying to part with $100 per person for mediocrity, go somewhere else!
I have been here a couple of times and enjoy it. The Burrata cheese appetizer was very good but the tonnarelli pasta was a bit too al dente, sauce was great. We had half bottle of Amarone but glasses smelled of bleach. Server was very nice and rinsed the glasses so we could enjoy the wine.
A decent value for a standard, Italian Ethan Stowell meal. Nice restaurant tucked away inside Belltown.
We went to celebrate New Year and had a great dinner with my family.
What a wonderful restaurant! This has been one of my favorite spots in the city, and when we chose to go here for New Years Eve, it did not disappoint. The pre fixe menu was amazing, and the wine pairing was perfect. The food was delicious and the staff attentive. Will be back again and again!
Food, ambiance, and service were all poor. My rating is zero stars!
Overall, our experience was very good. My wife and I went for NYE dinner. First and foremost, the food was very good. Things were generally well-timed, occasionally on the slow side, even though we dined really early. Each dish of the prix fixe menu was well conceived, decent portion size, and well prepared. Nothing blew our minds, but nothing was bad at all.
The real issues were non-food related. We were seated in an upstairs section near a window and it was incredibly cold. The people next to us were shivering and I myself was extremely cold. We mentioned it to our server but there wasn’t much she could do. Every other table was reserved.
The other odd thing was the music selection. It seemed to be a collection of 90s R&B / hip hop jams. From Ginuwine’s “Pony” to TLC’s “Waterfalls,” each song was weirder than the last.
Anyway, the food was very good. Service was lacking a little and slow, which was even more annoying due to a pre-set 20% added gratuity. The ambiance was okay with mildly inappropriate music for a nice NYE dinner.
My wife and I ate here for "date night" Saturday and loved the food! Everything we ate we enjoyed tremendously -- roasted beets, beef carpaccio, pappardelle, and the scallops. My personal fave was the roasted beets, served with whipped ricotta cheese and pistachios, and my wife loved the scallops, served with creamed farro and hazelnut. Prices moderately expensive but this is Belltown after all. Service quick and our server was happy to stick around answering all of our questions about the food. Only downer was that my glass of wine, a sangiovese, was a little bitter -- hopefully the bottles are better. Trendy atmosphere, good amount of noise but wasn't disturbed my any of the chatty neighbors or the Radiohead playing on the stereo. We will revisit!
We visit Seattle 3-4 times per year and always eat at Tavolata at least twice! It is our favorite restaurant in Seattle (and that is saying a lot considering the competition).
Food and service was excellent and would certainly come back!
The pasta was phenomenal, as were the desserts, wine, and appetizers.
We had an excellent evening and we definitely look forward to returning here for future date nights.
Food as always was amazing. 2 people in our party had not eaten here, and were thoroughly impressed!
I’m not into communal dining setups. Wish that was made explicitly clear - I would have passed. No reason to pay such high prices with forced tipping and get jammed in between people at a communal table. I get breakfast or certain experiences being communal - not a $$ dinner.
Staff was very accommodating for my girlfriend's birthday. They had a card ready on the table and they referred to her as the birthday girl. They made sure she felt appreciated.
Fantastic pre-Xmas meal with family. Service and ambiance exceeded expectations on a dark, windy Seattle night. Food was fresh, and tasty with unique flavors. Some of our party felt their dishes were a bit bland. The paperdelle with ragu, chili and orange was the favourite.
Great space, a wee bit on the high-brow vibe but nothing wrong with that. Was surprised they added an auto-gratuity (was dining solo). Completely understand for a party of 6 or more but thought it was a bit odd (being that I usually tip more than 20%).
Would go back again for sure.
The noise was pretty loud, the food was a little bit salty but then u just gonna need more wine to wash it down so I am not complaining at all
Tavolata was excellent. The food was absolutely outstanding. Our server was friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. We had a fantastic experience and will certainly be coming back.
Beautiful restaurant and such good comforting food!
Second time here and the food was amazing! Service this time wasn't great. We were rushed through our meal and they kept trying to take our plates before we were finished! They didn't have a wait at the door so we weren't sure why they were being so pushy...
We visited for our first anniversary and we couldn’t have picked a better spot. The staff are very knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. The food is excellent with delicious flavourings. People rave about the doughnuts for dessert but the other options are just as good. Try the sorbet - plum and clove isn’t something I’d usually pick but it was so good! Recommended.
Our server wasn’t the warmest. Annoyed would be more accurate. Seems as though he wanted to get our table in and out quickly. It really took away from our dinner. Maybe since 20% is automatically added on for gratuity the level of service isn’t what it could or should be. Food was pretty good. Drinks weren’t interesting in the least.
Enjoyed our meal on a Monday night. My husband and I split the Gem salad. I had the hanger steak, which was terrific. He had the spaghetti with anchovy sauce. We split the Pana cotta for dessert. Overall a lovely ending to our visit to Seattle.
This was our second time at Tavolata and it was absolutely spectacular once again. It is a beautiful restaurant with even more beautiful food. Thank you! We can’t wait for the chance to visit again.
The food here was outstanding! We ordered 4 dishes to share with our family of 6 and everything was really well done. You can tell this is a restaurant that doesn't usually cater to kids but they handled ours with grace.
True italian food
Tasty find. We had a rather late reservation but thought we'd try our chances and luckily , for us, there was cancellation . Tasty food and decent serving sizes. Found the margarita to be too sour for my liking (and I don't have a sweet tooth)
Very good food and drinks!! Great to celebrate with friends!
Our second visit. The staff and overall service is outstanding. The food — that’s why we go! We look forward to returning again!
I've been here several times and have yet to be disappointed. Menu is great to order a few things and share. We were slightly disappointed with the dessert, but mostly because they didn't have something that we ourselves were craving. This place is great.
Great atmosphere for a business dinner! Food was delectable!
Excellent pasta dishes and attentive staff. It was a chilly evening, and the restaurant could have been a little warmer for comfort.
Two things. Hard seats and zero cushions. Ok being picky but still. 2 with 2 people dining we automatically charged 20% gratuity. I always tip 20% this time I Left cash and didn’t. Don’t assume u get 20% especially when we don’t get welcome bread like everyone else. Food very tasty tho
We absolutely love this place and take all of our out-of-town guests here. The menu is full of good choices, but our particular favorites are the extruded pastas - both the tonnarelli and the spaghetti are really just amazing despite their simplicity - and the grilled hanger steak, which is cooked to perfection and comes with delicious salsa verde. The beef carpaccio and the beets are our favorite appetizers/shareables. The vibe is definitely "urban chic" with exposed concrete and clear incandescent bulbs, but it works well, and the service is always, always good.
We really enjoyed our evening at Tavolata. They have good but not great gluten free options and no gluten free beer or bread. It's a great place in a trendy area of Seattle.
I had the ricotta ravioli with brown butter and sage.... oh so good. Also started with the bread service and beef carpaccio - a must try! This is my second time and I will def be back!
Never gets old. Food is always impeccable. I will keep coming back every time I’m in Seattle.
We arrived 10 minutes before the restaurant opened & were greeted at the open door by an unfriendly host who told us & one other couple we would have to wait outside until the official open time. We would have been happy to sit at the bar or stand inside as it was a cool evening. Despite having made our reservation 3 weeks prior we were taken upstairs to a far back corner table next to a speaker blasting loud music not appropriate for nice dining. We ordered pasta dishes (Rigatoni & Spaghetti with Chicken Meatballs) and found the sauce to be salty & bland. The service was minimal. A disappointment to say the least.
Awesome Service, Food and Ambiance. Very happening place
