Tavola Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The manager was great, we had made a reservation for the family style dining, when we got there we found out they no longer offered the special. We we're disappointed and annoyed we were never told but the manager immediately offered to talk with the chef and they honored the family dining special. The food was good, except the fried eggplant, that was uneatable, but everything else was very good!
We ordered the Italian Night special. The portions were large but the food was unexceptional.
There was a plate of cold cuts and cheese. It was OK but there wasn't much there I couldn't have gotten in my local supermarket.
There was a salad of limp lettuce and too much onion.
The pasta had a conventional tomato sauce, again nothing I couldn't have gotten by buying sauce at the supermarket. The sausage was slightly burnt but otherwise acceptable. The meatballs were uninteresting.
The dessert of cannoli was very good. It and the coffee, were the high point of the meal.
We had a sangria to drink. The big chunks of fruit hanging out on the glass were OK but I would have preferred the fruit to have been cut up and put in the drink.
The service and ambience were good. Our waitress was attentive and polite.
My friend who lives in Springfield recommended Tavola. We were never so disappointed in a place that friends recommended. We placed our order and the waitress Kristin never once stopped back to see if we needed refills or more bread. After over an hour we finally asked someone if they knew when out food would be ready. Kristin came over to our table said she check came back and said they lost the ticket what angered us more than anything she thought it was funny and said it was bad luck we did not appreciate her being so insensitive . A few minutes later our food came out and it was cold she said do you want me to take it back and warm it she did and when it came out it still was cold by this point we were like forget just chalk it up to a bad meal, bad restaurant and horrible service as you were not even busy Saturday night.
Kristen asked us what did we want her to do for us , imagine a waitress asking the customer instead making it right. She took our soup off the bill big if your restaurant and said sorry. We watched people who came after us get served and leave . I have eaten in many establishments I have never been treated so badly. I wonder if it were Kristins night out or you as the mangers night out would want be treated this way. I will never recommend your establishment .
The outdoor seating and ambience was perfect; however, food and service was ok. I mentioned on opentable that My sister and I are celebrating our birthday, but no one acknowledged it by at least saying happy birthday, thanks for choosing to celebrate with us. The food was expensive, but ok, not worth the money. I would return only for the outdoor seating.
The wait staff was very slow and unorganized. Took forever to get a drink menu and waters and it would be a while before we were checked up on again. Other than staffing, which has been a known issue since it opened years ago, the venue is amazing and they have delicious food and events every night
Fun place to go. In my experience, the service is usually pretty good. My wife recently has a bad experience with an disinterested waiter. Other than that it is pretty good. Two main issues, 1) way over priced for what you are getting. 2) the menu needs to be expanded. Unless you want a fancy salad, a burger or pizza, there are slim pickings. App menu is limited and pricey. They need to add more sandwich offerings. Specials would be a great idea too.
Great outside seating unless it is really sunny then there is no escape.
Had a great time! Love the outdoor dining space! Food was fantastic ! Our server was attentive without being overbearing! Overall great dinner. If I had to complain about anything, it was that our table was right up against the bar that had a large, loud group. They were enjoying themselves and we had no issues with them. But I had specified on my reservation, that we were there for a date. Because of the noise level we had some difficulty talking. I'm sure the hostess would have accommodated us, but we never asked to move (our fault). But, all in all, I'll be back!!!
Had an overall great experience. Our waiter was extremely friendly, competant and attentive. However we were seated up against a wall (which was fine) except the walls were filthy. There was old food and drinks etc splattered and smeared all over them which kind of skeeved us out and made us question just how clean the dining area (and other areas?) actually were.
Our group of 7 really had a wonderful time......
We were celebrating some special birthdays and the outside patio was the perfect spot.
Food was really improved since my last visit 2 months ago.
Cheesesteak eggrolls were killer.
The place was so busy and vibrant, but our waitstaff never missed a beat.
They were attentive and pleasant.
And the best part is --- I just heard that they are adding some Dock Street brews to the menu.
I will definitely be back soon !!
This was our first visit. We were looking for a place to eat for a birthday, which could please a picky child in our party of 5 (they have a kid's menu) and had a pleasant and comfortable outside eating area. Everyone was pleased with their dinner, and the outdoor seating area was very pleasant as was our waitress! There was a lively bar scene with people of all ages. There was a band, which were very good, while at the same time the large patio allowed us to be seated in an area in which we could hear one another. We would return and would recommend to others.
