We went on a Saturday night and the restaurant had a band. The band was ok, but it was so loud that we could neither enjoy the meal or hear our own conversations. The food was quite good, but we will never go back when they have a band.

While the food was delicious, the noise level was unbearable. Normal conversation was impossible. The waiter did not give us enough time to finish our appetizers before bringing on the main course. He seemed bewildered by our request to take back the food until we were ready. The owner came over to talk to us and did not seem to understand the concept that "the customer is always right." While that is not always true, we certainly thought so that evening. We wanted to leave as soon as possible so we did not order tea/coffee or dessert.

Took three teenage grandchildren there for dinner prior to their summer vacation trips. Had a nice corner table - great for conversation. food was excellent but the wait staff was not very attentive and frankly, not very friendly. Enjoyed the dinner and would return.

Ate at Tavlin this week with my girlfriend. The food was interesting and delicious, and the servers were polite and kind, though they took a very long time to take our order and deliver us the bill. It was very nice to see the owner taking such an active role in the needs of the busy restaurant. Overall, very nice experience, and definitely somewhere I would visit again.

They were able to move us. The service was extremely slow.

We traveled over 1 1/2 hours to eat at Tavlin because we were seeking great Israeli food and it was well worth the trip. The Hummus bowls are unique and delicious.

Consistently wonderful! We shared some fresh and excellent appetizers. Current fax is hummus platter with strip steak (peppers and onions), the Israeli salad is always top notch. We shared an entree pargiot and broccoli (always sautéed perfectly.

Israeli food done really well. Generous portions. If you order the Schwarma, it's enough for two meals. The chumus may be the best in the country. It's smooth and creamy. Order it with the hanger steak on top and you'll think you died and went to heaven. Great choice of restaurant.

Food was good as usual. Annoying that we were required to pay $5 per person for live music that we could have done without.

By far the best kosher grill restaurant in the NY and NJ area. This was my first time here. Shishkebab was phenomenal, used London Broil cut, and was perfectly done and minimally seasoned. The grill taste really came through. Chicken vegetable soup was tasty and fresh, as well as the broccoli. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. Very nice sized portions, the salad was enormous. Soft and inviting decor. Nice, safe, and cute historic area to walk around as well. Highly recommended!

The only thing that got this place any stars we that the food quality was quite good and location is great if you are in Tenafly.

The owner/manager gave us very abrupt and rude service. It was 9:00 PM and he wanted us out, threatened to call police because I did not want to settle the check which arrived when the main course arrived at 8:45 PM.

We brought BYO wine, it was not kosher wine; so, he would not open it. That's OK and I did not complain, just went next door and bought a kosher bottle of wine - no problems so far. That was at 8:15 PM.

This guy has attitude and............well, you know how to finish the sentence.

I made a reservation but it didn't mean anything as still needed to wait for a while...

Food was delicious...

Although the waitress was great (she also cooks some of the food while waiting tables) so it slows things down and makes the service pretty bad. It took them about 20 minutes to get someone to take our order and that was after waiting 20 minutes to get our table in the first place.

all in all delicious meal but customer service needs some serious work as it ruins the experience

The service was terrible. We had a 5:00 reservation and were seated at 5:20 due to our tardiness. We were told there was a 7:15 reservation, so we had 2 hours to eat. That was fine with us, and we were willing to expedite our dinner. You would think they would be rather quick to take our order and bring out the food but that was not the case. I had to get up several times to ask them to take our order.

We ordered the humus with mushrooms as an appetizer and had to send it back because the mushrooms had gone bad.
The salads were quite good as was the pita.

When we ordered our mains we were told there was no schwarma (the first item on their entrée list, at 5:45 pm on a Sunday, their busiest night). They said they just put the meat on the rotisserie and it would take 45 minutes to be ready. Ok, so we ordered something else.
It took over 45 minutes to get the entrees served by which point we were seeing schwarma being served to others. when we asked they gave us a plate of schwarma without charging us.

The food is very good, however it seems they do not care about service and make no effort to improve. You feel as if they are doing YOU a favor to eat in their restaurant.

Menu is reliable standards of Israeli food.... wish the Sineya had more kick (cumin, etc.) to it - and was a bit less greasy.

Yummy chumus!!!! Server checked on and replenished hot pita without being asked (woo whooo!).

Service was very attentive without being annoying.
We were not rushed to order and server listened carefully to our needs.

A reliable, relaxing spot. Will be returning.

Tavlin has a warm environment. However, the service is poor. The waitor/waitress are not pleasant. If you come on a holiday chances are they will have run out of food and you will wait a long time to get your food.
I would only recommend Tavlin on a non-holiday and go as a couple not a group.
