Chickpea, garlic, lemon and olive oil spread
Lemon roasted potatoes seasoned with oregano
Fresh grilled and lightly seasoned octopus
The food was exceptional and the service was great! First time to this establishment and we would definitely come back. 5 stars!
Could be the best Greek restaurant in its price point category.
They have a spacious outdoor porch in this Covid sensitive indoor challenge.
I had a scrumpious piece of perfectly cooked salmon and my date perfectly
cooked skewered beef kabobs.
The appetitizer of Spanacopita was old school greek delite.
The staff were energetic and friendly. This is a fun place for groups.
The food was excellent as always. COVID has it pretty empty, but the restaurant was clean and lots of people getting take-out orders.
I mentioned that it was my fiends birthday on my reservation through Open Table but no one saw the Birthday that was noted with my reservation. No one did anything at the restaurant to help me celebrate it with my friend. We still had an amazing time and the belly dancing was fun to watch. Food was great! But it would have been nice to have some one at least bring a slice of cake or something for my friend.
Very enjoyable. We ate early so atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Food excellent!
Food was good. But the DJ was great music from all genre we danced on top of tables, chairs, floors surprise we weren’t hanging from the ceiling. Crazy fun spot for dinner, dancing, napkin tossing and belly dancers.
We did not have an opportunity experience the food, as when we arrived for our reservation we were escorted to a back room where we were sat at a plastic patio table and chairs (indoors). The temperature of the room was cold, as was the atmosphere. When we inquired about one of the open tables in the main dining room we were told they were expecting large parties and there wasn't room for us. We contemplated staying, but given the price of the food and beverages we decided we would rather go somewhere with a more welcoming atmosphere. Upon exiting the restaurant we waited approx. 15 minutes to get our car from the valet. The two people working it obviously had little to no experience. Cars were backed up out onto Cheshire Bridge, they were turning in circles trying to figure out how to get cars for guests and also how to park incoming cars. I have heard the good is good, but the overall experience was poor.
This place has gone down hill. It used to be my favorite restaurant. Now, they have a Very rude manager. The restaurant is not sanitary at all. Floors, walls, furniture are all disgustingly dirty. Eat here at your own risk.
I got the Italian lasagna which was not good so I sent it back and got the lamb kabob and it was much better. Generally a chaotic environment and hard to get waiters attention.
Went here on Valentine's day and I was impressed with the restaurant. Little bit loud for a Valentine's Day dinner due to the DJ but he was playing good music so it didn't bother us. Food was amazing, not too costly and they give you a lot of food. Would definitely return!
Valentine’s Day dinner with friends
Went for early dinner on Valentines Day. We had crab stuffed shrimp for appetizer. OK crab stuffing in good shrimp in excellent sauce with garnish. Also had the hummus which is served in mortar and pestle set with fresh garbonzo beans and 12-15 small wedges of pita. Really fresh with ability to prepare to your own preferred consistency. On this occasion, we both had the gyro plate. The plates were piled with gyro meat on wedges of pita with a large Greek salad. It was all excellent. This plate used to come with Greek potatoes. They’ve substituted more meat for the potatoes and it’s a great trade off. Service (by Ratchel) with accompanying servers was excellent. There was so much meat that both of us needed boxes just to take it home.
The atmosphere was good BUT the food are over priced. I ordered scallops but when it arrived I only saw 4 medium sized and a lot of risotto. I didn't say anything to the server because I was hoping that some of the scallops were just buried but NO, there were only 4 and this meal costs $30! That's $7.50/scallops...what a rip off! I told the server when he asked me how the food was when he came back to check on us 30 mins after the food was served. I guess he's already aware that this dish is overpriced because he just shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. He did not even offer to call the manager or anything. My husband ordered the lamb shack and he said it was dry. Our total bill was $80 and we had to stop by McDonalds on our way home because I only ate 4 scallops and I was still hungry. I will never to back to this restaurant again nor recommend it to anyone I know.
Loved my moussaka. Husbands lamb was dry as sawdust. Waiter and hostess were top notch! The valet parking was a 0. What a nightmare trying to get our car!
I love this place! It's family oriented but still very lively. I've been there numerous times celebrating birthdays and this time I celebrated my daughter's 17th birthday with her friends. They loved the atmosphere with the belly dancers, the dj and dancing. The food was good and the drinks were better! I would definitely recommend Taverna Plaka to anyone looking to have good times, good food and good drinks....OPA!!!
What a great place to have a great time! We've been here several times and it is always a blast, from the belly dancers to the "OPA!" flinging napkins! Food is always great and the service is usually great as well. Definitely one of our family's favorite spots!
a little loud but a lot of fun, great food and great belly dancing!!
While the food and drink are great, Taverna Plaka stands out due to the exceptional service of its staff.
The service was not good. No one came to the table, served one glass of water at a time for 4 people, the same happened with serving plates, one at a time. The noise level was so loud you could hardly carry on a conversation.
Our first time in - and let me tell you - this place is over the top loud on a Friday night. And nothing says authentic Greek place like the Macarena playing. It was a bit much. Do not come to eat here if you’d like to have a conversation at the table. Food was quick to come out - but would not recommend the Falafel. Ample parking.
This restaurant has everything!!! The food is EXCELLENT, the entertainment far exceeded my expectations. My co-workers loved truly enjoyed themselves. Dmitry, manager, always make me feel like we've known each other for years!
Enjoyed our waiter Fose. Atmosphere very energetic and fun.
We had a large group with a reservation and we were seated promptly at our reservation time. The restaurant was LOUD with music blasting well beyond comfort level - nobody could hear anything, including the people seated directly next to us. (For reference, we then went to a live band show at the Masquerade that was quieter.) We gave up yelling and just texted through our very long, slow meal. I think they were really understaffed, and while our waiter was hustling and trying his best, he had our giant table (15 people), the giant table next to us (probably more like 20 people) and then several smaller tables. It was probably an hour before anybody took our orders. However, the food arrived relatively quickly after that, and it was delicious! We shared the flaming cheese appetizer and the gyro platter, and it was plenty for 2 people. The tzatziki sauce in particular was really flavorful.
We were in a party mood when we arrived and ready to have fun, but with the volume levels and the lack of service, it really put a damper on things. I just had just one drink because I couldn't get anybody to take my order for another (but my drink - a lime coconut martini - was also excellent). We took up that giant table for more than 2 hours because everything was so slow. In the end, we were charged the mandatory large group gratuity, which we paid but everybody grumbled about. I had been to the restaurant previously and enjoyed the fun atmosphere, and maybe I'm just getting old, but I can't scream through dinner. Please consider turning the music down and hiring some additional staff.
This place is always AMAZING! Best place to celebrate....well ANYTHING....
Excellent Greek food combined with outstanding service
We had a group of 21, and it was awesome! Wonderful wait staff, easy to make the reservation, and delicious food. Highly recommend!
We were seated out of the main dining room in the back where there was only one other table of customers. Apparently the other table was controlling the music... and it was a lot of Miley Cyrus. A lot of the staff went over to this back room to "hang out" away from other customers. It felt more like we were being served where the staff took breaks- and that is just as awkward of a dining experience as you'd imagine. It took about 10 minutes back there to even have a server take our drink order. I'd eat here again in the main dining area only- don't let the staff here overfill the restaurant and sit you in the back. The food was good, but half of dining out is the experience.
Taverna Plaka is always a great time! The food is fabulous and the belly dancers heighten the energy!
Soooooo this place is beyond amazing!!!! If you’re looking for something quaint and quiet, this is not the place. However, if u are looking to have fun, let ur hair down, enjoy GREAT food this is the place. The lamb chops is everything!!! Thank u for making my birthday special.
Perfect for a birthday celebration...fun for all ages...OPA!
Perfect place to celebrate a birthday!
the food was great. the crowd is great. valet great... services and energy is awesome OPA! OPA!
Incredible place! Food outstanding, service phenomenal, and music just right
It was fun and had good was great. There was a DJ and I felt the music was too loud at times. It was difficult to carry on a conversation, I wish I would have asked to be seated outside. Otherwise it was a great experience.
Amazing, we had the best time! Great place to celebrate birthdays, anniversary's, etc.
This an absolute delicious and fun adult place to dine. On the weekends there is a DJ and belly dancers. The food is phenomenal. Treat yourself! OPAAAA!
We had a great time, food excellent, entertaining. would recommend to all.
Restaurant seems to be a great place for large parties. There is music and belly dancing.
For couples dining.
I’d say it’s average. The servers were very attentive. But the food was just average.
Very loud but very fun! I would not recommend for an intimate date night. Great for friends
