Shaved roasted lamb served with pita tzatziki and a small Greek salad
Grilled salmon topped with lemon beurre blanc, served with sautéed spinach and lemon potatoes
Crispy rolls of phyllo dough topped with pistachios and honey
The food was okay in taste but pricey for the Greek and Italian offerings, the service was average but could have been better considering there were only two other couples were at the restaurant, maybe because it was Easter Sunday. I most likely would not visit again or recommend but wanted to try something different in my visit to Atlanta.
We love this place! We sat outside on the deck. Food and service consistently wonderful and Maddie (belly dancer) is fun and sweet. We enjoyed the DJ on Saturday evening, great music (he used to work at Limelight :) Highly recommend!
good food and fun environment! good place for a birthday
Took our daughter there for her 21st birthday and we had a blast. It was not too crowded at all, we sat at the tables on the covered patio and just had a blast. The service was fantastic, lots of energy everywhere, lots of OPA! shouting and celebrating!
The food was good, although I did not like the hummus (which was quite surprising for a Greek restaurant), but the Tzatziki was incredible. The Gyro's were moist and the plates were filled with lots of meat. The Lamb Shank was fantastic and the meat practically fell off the bone.
Wish I had tried some of the fish dishes, they looked fantastic. The belly dancer was quite creative and added to the fun.
Overall, we were thrilled with our choice of this restaurant to celebrate a great event! Thanks to everyone there for making it so special!
Service was very good, in part because of very few patrons on a weeknight.
Food is just OK, but with relatively high prices, it's not good value.
Went for a birthday and this was the perfect establishment. The staff was phenomenal! We had an early reservation so a few items that take longer to prepare we’re not ready yet, but the server was ready with great recommendations as subs. This place is perfect for large groups and they make you feel like part of the family.
High energy place with loud music and belly dance. Excellent service and our Gyro plate and Pisto Arni was fabulous . Overall a great place to be with friends for a fun night.
The waiters give so much energy and a great vibe that compliments the delicious food of Taverna Plaka. I love to come here with my family or friends.
Fun, lively place that on weekends, from my one experience, is a great place for any type of group celebration. Couples and smaller groups should be ready to match or at least appreciate the kitschy fun. We did and we had belly dancing good time.
Awesome Valentine’s date night! We both 100% enjoyed the food, atmosphere and the service! We’ll be back for more 😁
Food was good! I went for Valentine’s Day and the belly dancers were fun.
The food was good; the only issue is the service. Although it was Valentine’s Day, we went early so it wasn’t very crowded. Despite that, the service was SLOW! Our server went table to table and would walk right by without stopping. So I’d have to flag him down whenever we needed something. Then he’d say okay, but then he’d walk past us 1 or 2 more times and I’d remind him of what we needed. We were ready for the check and the same pattern continued and after a while he finally brought it. I looked down and he had written his own 22% gratuity! I just laughed because I assume they do this on holidays. Plus that’s about what I would have tipped anyway. But the idea that we’re forgotten about constantly and you write a $23 tip on there!? 😂 crazy...
Took my mom here for her birthday. She had a blast. Food was ridiculously tasty as well. The only thing that threw me for a loop was all the napkin throwing 😂. Wonderful place if you want great music and high energy wait staff.
Great food, great atmosphere, and a great experience! They had a belly dancer performing throughout the evening which was a nice change. If you’re looking for a quiet, low-key dinner, this is not the place. This was a fun place with great food!
Service was great! Food was luke warm but tasty. Drinks were good..We missed the belly dancers...
This place has great food and a very attentive and energetic staff.
Server was great. Great food. Food was out to us quickly. Atmosphere was good.
The food was exceptional and the service was great! First time to this establishment and we would definitely come back. 5 stars!
Could be the best Greek restaurant in its price point category.
They have a spacious outdoor porch in this Covid sensitive indoor challenge.
I had a scrumpious piece of perfectly cooked salmon and my date perfectly
cooked skewered beef kabobs.
The appetitizer of Spanacopita was old school greek delite.
The staff were energetic and friendly. This is a fun place for groups.
The food was excellent as always. COVID has it pretty empty, but the restaurant was clean and lots of people getting take-out orders.
I mentioned that it was my fiends birthday on my reservation through Open Table but no one saw the Birthday that was noted with my reservation. No one did anything at the restaurant to help me celebrate it with my friend. We still had an amazing time and the belly dancing was fun to watch. Food was great! But it would have been nice to have some one at least bring a slice of cake or something for my friend.
Very enjoyable. We ate early so atmosphere was quiet and relaxed. Food excellent!
Food was good. But the DJ was great music from all genre we danced on top of tables, chairs, floors surprise we weren’t hanging from the ceiling. Crazy fun spot for dinner, dancing, napkin tossing and belly dancers.
We did not have an opportunity experience the food, as when we arrived for our reservation we were escorted to a back room where we were sat at a plastic patio table and chairs (indoors). The temperature of the room was cold, as was the atmosphere. When we inquired about one of the open tables in the main dining room we were told they were expecting large parties and there wasn't room for us. We contemplated staying, but given the price of the food and beverages we decided we would rather go somewhere with a more welcoming atmosphere. Upon exiting the restaurant we waited approx. 15 minutes to get our car from the valet. The two people working it obviously had little to no experience. Cars were backed up out onto Cheshire Bridge, they were turning in circles trying to figure out how to get cars for guests and also how to park incoming cars. I have heard the good is good, but the overall experience was poor.
This place has gone down hill. It used to be my favorite restaurant. Now, they have a Very rude manager. The restaurant is not sanitary at all. Floors, walls, furniture are all disgustingly dirty. Eat here at your own risk.
I got the Italian lasagna which was not good so I sent it back and got the lamb kabob and it was much better. Generally a chaotic environment and hard to get waiters attention.
Went here on Valentine's day and I was impressed with the restaurant. Little bit loud for a Valentine's Day dinner due to the DJ but he was playing good music so it didn't bother us. Food was amazing, not too costly and they give you a lot of food. Would definitely return!
Valentine’s Day dinner with friends
Went for early dinner on Valentines Day. We had crab stuffed shrimp for appetizer. OK crab stuffing in good shrimp in excellent sauce with garnish. Also had the hummus which is served in mortar and pestle set with fresh garbonzo beans and 12-15 small wedges of pita. Really fresh with ability to prepare to your own preferred consistency. On this occasion, we both had the gyro plate. The plates were piled with gyro meat on wedges of pita with a large Greek salad. It was all excellent. This plate used to come with Greek potatoes. They’ve substituted more meat for the potatoes and it’s a great trade off. Service (by Ratchel) with accompanying servers was excellent. There was so much meat that both of us needed boxes just to take it home.
The atmosphere was good BUT the food are over priced. I ordered scallops but when it arrived I only saw 4 medium sized and a lot of risotto. I didn't say anything to the server because I was hoping that some of the scallops were just buried but NO, there were only 4 and this meal costs $30! That's $7.50/scallops...what a rip off! I told the server when he asked me how the food was when he came back to check on us 30 mins after the food was served. I guess he's already aware that this dish is overpriced because he just shrugged his shoulders and said sorry. He did not even offer to call the manager or anything. My husband ordered the lamb shack and he said it was dry. Our total bill was $80 and we had to stop by McDonalds on our way home because I only ate 4 scallops and I was still hungry. I will never to back to this restaurant again nor recommend it to anyone I know.
Loved my moussaka. Husbands lamb was dry as sawdust. Waiter and hostess were top notch! The valet parking was a 0. What a nightmare trying to get our car!
I love this place! It's family oriented but still very lively. I've been there numerous times celebrating birthdays and this time I celebrated my daughter's 17th birthday with her friends. They loved the atmosphere with the belly dancers, the dj and dancing. The food was good and the drinks were better! I would definitely recommend Taverna Plaka to anyone looking to have good times, good food and good drinks....OPA!!!
What a great place to have a great time! We've been here several times and it is always a blast, from the belly dancers to the "OPA!" flinging napkins! Food is always great and the service is usually great as well. Definitely one of our family's favorite spots!
a little loud but a lot of fun, great food and great belly dancing!!
While the food and drink are great, Taverna Plaka stands out due to the exceptional service of its staff.
The service was not good. No one came to the table, served one glass of water at a time for 4 people, the same happened with serving plates, one at a time. The noise level was so loud you could hardly carry on a conversation.
Our first time in - and let me tell you - this place is over the top loud on a Friday night. And nothing says authentic Greek place like the Macarena playing. It was a bit much. Do not come to eat here if you’d like to have a conversation at the table. Food was quick to come out - but would not recommend the Falafel. Ample parking.
This restaurant has everything!!! The food is EXCELLENT, the entertainment far exceeded my expectations. My co-workers loved truly enjoyed themselves. Dmitry, manager, always make me feel like we've known each other for years!
