About Taverna Opa - Mary Brickell Village
The combination of great food and celebration created a new meaning for the concept of dining. A different approach that energizes and gives the diner a different dimension for his or her entertainment. Previous dining norms are broken, spirits are lifted, with evey single broken plate and every single napkin in the air. The marriage of traditional with modern is what Taverna Opa promotes as the most rapidly expanding concept in the United States.

Taverna Opa - Mary Brickell Village Ratings and Reviews
Taverna Opa has DELICIOUS food – some of the best you’ll find! However, at this location, the service was slow and they did not know how to use my OpenTable gift card so I was a little disappointed with this location as opposed to the Hollywood one, which is the best in my opinion.
This is the first poor review I've written. The food was not very authentic and not very good but the service was pitiful which is why I am writing this. The waitress didn't care about answering any questions about the menu, all the food was brought at once; appetizers, hummus with pita and main course. When we waived the waitress down after maybe 5-10 minutes she said thats the way they do it.
A complete disappointment for a labeled Greek restaurant, something that I am still questioning seriously.
Blending an American bar into a typical Greek tavern is a joke here, they achieve neither enviroment.
We made a dinner rrswrvationvia open table and on arrival found nothing and the host took us to a bar table, felt like Chillis or similar.
A true no taste for decoration and no resemblance of any place in Greece. No frames, no decoration, nothing, just another sport bar look like type.
Perhaps the owner of this place has never visit a typical tavern in Greece nor has any idea what a decoration for a Greek restaurant should look like.
To top tging out they have one belly dancer movimg around tables, a more arabic look type than anything.
Perhaps this place should be good for a bar with middle east food instead.
The cheft food preparation is horrible, and the decoration of the place with a very low taste.
This place and the present decoration, tables, presentation could be good Middle East kebab place nithing more.
For a true Greek representation this place is light years away from reality of the surroundings of a good Greek restaurant or better Tavern.
Sorry a complete disappointment.
This place is an extension Blue Martini overcrowded nights for people to seat and order drinks.
Again sorry, but this is the worse Greek label place visited in South Florida.
When open to her and I was in South Beach I really enjoyed going there- now it is located in downtown Miami anymore manufactured area so not as much style as the old venue--however, the food is good the stuff is good and the air is fun but I wouldn't call it exceptional.
Went for a birthday celebration but it was way too loud so it was difficult to maintain a conversation. It took a while for the table to get water and the complimentary hummus came when we were almost done eating dinner rather than while we waited. The belly dancers never came near our table. I have been to other Opa locations and the expectation ended up being very different than our experience. In the Hollywood location there is a family ambiance and the belly dancers go around the tables celebrating with guests and the waiters are very attentive to the guests. The food was very good so I have no complaints on that. Just wish we had received better service and the music was not so loud.
Seems as if every one working here had mental issues going on the day I came. We came as soon as it opened no one was in the restaurant but us, and it took 5 people to serve us, constantly confirming our order, didn't receive our order til an hour and a half. Asked if instead our food can be to go since they took so long to make chicken. They had a hard time doing that. Couldn't split the bill. Place is not worth the headache! If your looking for Greek food downtown just go to stoupsy
The service here was unacceptable. Getting a hold of my server and placing an order was frustrating. I was only able to place an order for one drink and some appetizers. However, the food itself, once it arrived, was good. After waiting over 30 minutes to place my dinner order, I asked another server for the check. I had to walk across the street and finish my dinner elsewhere. I remember this place used to get packed years ago. Perhaps the service has been it's downfall. I recommend this place if you are not that hungry and have all night to wait.
Our waiter disappeared and I had to go and find someone to take my order. I requested my salad with the dressing on the side and they brought it with the dressing mixed in with the vegetables. I had to request water more than twice. They brought my salad and maybe 20 minutes later they brought my wife's dish. Horrible experience! We'll mever go back to this restaurant.
Arrived toward the end of Sunday brunch (2 PM) and they were out of champagne, so no mimosas. To compensate, they offered an open bar, which was more than fair. Our waiter made every effort to accommodate. The selection from the buffet was fairly limited, and of only average quality. Ceviche was good, eggs benedict had been sitting awhile, salad was decent, and "sausage mcmuffin" on mini-bagel was ok. A good value overall.
I have been to the WPB location which was close, while the food was decent, for what ever reason the rice was quite greasy, and salty along with the potatoes. Our appetizers were great!!! We had 7 different types, the drinks was ok as well. The family enjoyed the time away from home.
We saw the server only when we sat down...that was it. We even had to go to the bar to get our drinks. (We got tired of waiting)
When the bill came gratuity of 18% was already included (we were a table of 4)
The food was sub-par for the price paid.
There are many other restaurants in the area....go to those.
1st time at the Brickell location, I've been to the one in Hollywood a ton of times. I lived n Greece and Taverna Opa has always had the best Geeek food. The one in Brickell was better than most Geeek restaurants, but some of the entrees seemed a bit off - shrimp and the Pastichio. But I was comparing it against a high bar from what I am used to from the Hollywood location
Still worth going simply to people watch in Brickell Village! Good portions and good value.
Dined at Taverna Opa New Year's Eve before a concert. We arrived from out of town and picked this restaurant from Open Table choices. Service was very good, appetizers were well prepared. Flaming cheese (saganaki) was average, our entrees were also well prepared.
The outdoor setting is nice.
Visited the Mary Brickell - Opa and what a true surprise. The food was amazing and the service could not have been nicer responding flawlessly to our never ending requests...LOL
The food was execllent....ordered the Miami Spice lunch. Go wth the Mediterranean salad as appetizer....probably the best this side of Athens. The entree was also very tasty.... Mousaka, a "lasagna" looking dish, but made with eggplant. Lastly, the dessert was to just lay back and endulge...don't miss the Galaktoboureko.
Coming back soon!
