About Taverna Opa - Hollywood
An Alternate Approach to Dining:
The combination of great food and celebration created a new meaning for the concept of dining. Taverna Opa employs a different approach to energize and introduce the diner to a different dimension of entertainment. Previous dining norms are broken, spirits are lifted, with every single broken plate and every single napkin in the air. The marriage of traditional with modern is what Taverna Opa promotes as the most rapidly expanding concept in the United States.

Taverna Opa - Hollywood Ratings and Reviews
we knew it was a Greek restaurant, but it was a shock to find Belly dancer on the table dancing all night !! It was so loud and noisy one can not carry a conversation, you just watch, and some men joined dancing on the narrow table, I was waiting for who will fall with this lively act.
About the food it was a big menu and lot of variety, the waiters were not focused on their tables and after our meal we received the bill before they even ask us if we require dessert or coffee!! We could try some Baklava or Loukomados, but thought better leave and get out of this noisy atmosphere
Fun place for our Birthday celebration. Was quieter then usual since it was a Wednesday night. Gabby our server was very accommodating and even served a slice of Baklava with sparklers to the Birthday boy. I've had better cocktails but food was authentic and delicious!
I've never been a big fan of Greek food, but this place totally sold me on the cuisine and the atmosphere was second to none. They bring you bread and a cup of chick peas and garlic with a mortar to create your own hummus. The salmon with dill sauce, rice pilaf and asparagus was outstanding and the portions were tremendous with the main entries. The best part of the night was the atmosphere. It is a bit loud but very energetic. There is a belly dancer that goes around dancing and getting the patrons livened up. She will draft people to come dance with her (men, women and children are all fair game) and we happened to be there for a few birthday celebrations, where the birthday dessert was topped with a large sparkling candle, an air raid siren went off, and people were literally smashing plates on the floor left and right (which is a tradition I was unaware of) as they cried out OPA...so it was a festive atmosphere to say the least. It was after dark, too cool and too windy for the windows to be open but when the weather is nice...I'm sure dining beside the waterway just adds to the experience. This is place is right on A1A off the Boardwalk...so if you are looking for a great place away from the Boardwalk...you have to check it out. My girlfriend and I loved it!
They never honored the reservation we had booked weeks earlier for 6.45 pm reservations and after waiting more than 45 minutes to be seated while all that time there was an empty table.
We insisted to be seated at that table we were asked to order from the appetizer cold menu because they had other reservations for 8.30 .
When the manager came to our table he was more disrespectful than the staff.
I gave never written any comments on any restaurants but this I could not accept.
I sent a text to the restaurant customer relations and gave yet to receive any feed back.
A night club want to be with a very loud DJ, belly dancers and table top dancing. Lots of fun for 20 minutes then you just want them to shut up so you can eat your food, talk with your friends in peace. Service was awful with two entrees coming out 15 minutes before the other two entrees at our table. No cutlery for another ten minutes after that at which time the food was cold. No one came by to see how anything was the entire time. It wasn’t until after the bill was paid and the server noticed a ten percent gratuity which, under the circumstances was way too generous, that he asked me if there was a problem with the service. Really?
The low rating is mostly due to terrible service. My meal was supposed to consist of 1 beer, two appetizers, and 1 entree. After a long wait, I received my beer I asked for a glass for it as well as a glass of water. I was told they were out of glasses. Out of glasses?? Then they brought my entree before my appetizers, one of which never arrived and had to be removed from the bill. It was a horribly frustrating experience, not helped by my Serbian waiter’s cluelessness about why this place was so disorganized. As a Greek, I am embarrassed by how this restaurant is run.
Don't go here for a romantic dinner. Go here for a light-hearted, fun evening that will probably include some patrons joining a belly dancer gyrating on a table top.
The food is good. The service is excellent. The atmosphere is engaging.
They also have a reasonable selection of Greek wines.
We had a family dinner. We sat outdoors by the water and watched the beautiful boats go by. The indoors area was very crowded and noisy, but the outdoors dining experience was very pleasant. The service was excellent. The food was really good. The saganaki, the grilled calamari were really good. We shared appetizers including Greek salad, eggplant salad, stuffed grape leaves as well as the saganaki and calamari. As a main course we ordered grilled sea bass, fried smelt and lamb chops. They are excellent.
All in all it was a great restaurant and we would highly recommend it.
The food was excellent. We had grilled octopus for an appetizer and olives and feta cheese. Main course was Chilean Sea Bass over Greek potatoes and spinach. I had the grilled lamb chops excellent. We also had a bottle of Greek White wine . Very nice evening.
When we arrived there, there was no one to greet us at the hostess /valet stand. We waited for 20 minutes even with a reservation. The restaurant floor was flooded with water and had to walk on puddles to get to our tables. We left and went to gigi's next door. Sorry, but I will never eat here again.
Service was great. Food was very salty . They need to update their prices from this app . Martinis that were listed at $9 on the app were $12 on their menu. Prices are higher at this place compared to the app's menu . My wife enjoyed her shrimp dish . The rice pilaf was salty though. I had the Branzino but salty plus you get the rice too. We sat outdoors the view was great. Vitale our waiter was great . I felt bad he had to serve us the so salty dishes . Nice portion on the saganaki.
