Taverna Opa - Hollywood
The combination of great food and celebration created a new meaning for the concept of dining. Taverna Opa employs a different approach to energize and introduce the diner to a different dimension of entertainment. Previous dining norms are broken, spirits are lifted, with every single broken plate and every single napkin in the air. The marriage of traditional with modern is what Taverna Opa promotes as the most rapidly expanding concept in the United States.
Need to book at 1:30 AM?Other great restaurants with availability.
Fabulous as always!!
Food is good, servers are arrogant, they ignore you when you are seated, and aggravated to have to take your order. Its a shame, I live in walking distance from this restaurant, I'm a regular and i want to see it succeed but very disappointed in this last visit and its inconsistency.
Excellent meal from octopus and mezze appetizers to grilled lamb and sea bass entrees. Along with the excellent service and fun entertainment, this place is a keeper!
Mash your own hummus with a morter and pestle, grilled octopus, stuffed grape leaves, half a Greek salad for 2 and lemon chicken. All tasty and prepared perfectly. We would have liked some avgolemono soup but they don't make it there. Sat along the canal and it was quiet enough for a conversation. Service was excellent and we had lots of leftovers for lunch the next day.
Authentic Greek food and wine and music in a lovely setting on the intracoastal waterway! Great service! All good. We’ll be back!
Some dishes like the smelts and fried zucchini were tasteless. Other dishes like lamb chops were delicious. Pleasant staff.
Excellent food and service and we much prefer the outdoor dining area with less noise.
The waiter was very helpful. He suggested what to take. We took from the menu for 4 people and it was variety of everything. The food was very delicious..
Was great! The dancing on the tables and music really livens you up!
Hunmus was very good-server made it at the table. Appetizer Keftedes were awesome- these were 3 meatballs/lamb & beef mixed... I Loved the Athenian Shrimp and my husband enjoyed his lamb chops. Baklava outstanding!! Outside is non smoking now. Dancers inside dancing on tables.
Great place to go for NYE dinner. Loved the Greek music, the belly dancer, and customers dancing on tables. Food took a long time to arrive because it was extremely busy, and the food was very good.
Fabulous as always!
Food just ok service just ok
Food was awesome. Reasonably priced. Very tight seating. Very loud, but it was Christmas and they were very busy. Again, awesome food, but not a great choice if you are looking for a relaxing leisurely dining experience.
Great outside on bay
Food is delicious and the service is great!
It was a wonderful experience!
Excellent lamb chops. Great Greek salad. Fun atmosphere.
It could be a lot nicer if they were to restrict smoking on the dockside dining. Also it could use a renovation it does not appear they are spending a dime on the place. Food was however very authentic.
Food is amazing!!!! Tables are a little close together. It was fun to see the dancers and listen to the the loud music but it would’ve been nice to have it changed up a bit at times.
Food is always great. But I don’t like their hummus that you have to crush yourself w/ a mortar and pestle. I personally like smooth texture and less garlic. Atmosphere is very fun inside. Outdoor dining on dock is very tight.
Wonderful place but a little too loud. Service was super good. Food was melting in our mouths. Anyway will return again.
The food is great. Our waitress not so friendly. We will still go back because we loved the food.
ALL WAS GOOD EXCEPT FOR HOSTESS WHO APPEARED TO CONSIDER US BURDENSOME SHE APPEARED MORE INTERESTED IN FELLOW EMPLOYEES THAN CUSTOMERS. OUR WAITER WAS GREAT AND THE FOOD, AS ALWAYS, WAS EXCELLENT. DINING OUTSIDE BY THE WATER OFFERS SPECIAL ATMOSPHERE
Well Worth the Trip!!!!
Perfect as always!
Food offerings are always good and some are great. Can’t go wrong with fish, grilled octopus, chicken dishes, traditional Greek. Service is so-so and noise too depending on time/ day. Great ambiance on the intercoastal.
Delicious and authentic food, feels just like I'm in the greek isles!
Wish smoking on the patio was not allowed.
We were a party of 2. The table for two are put on a very tight area with very little space between table. You are literally 1 foot away from the table next to you which are for parties of four only. The main part of the restaurant was empty with many table to larger parties. The food was great I must say. The beers came out a bit warm. Being uncomfortable outweighed the quality of the food. I'm a local and will not return.
Food is good. If you like loud greek music then enjoy
A Greek diner with entertainment. Bring your earplugs along during weekend dinner - it gets ridiculously loud.
First time I ever been to Greek restaurant and I loved it.., food and service was excellent,,, we’ll be back
I love the place!
One of the worst and strangest experiences I've ever witnessed or been a part of. We went to Taverna Opa on Saturday (8/17) with another couple for dinner with the anticipation of watching some fun dancing and eating great Greek food. Keep in mind this wasn't our first time at TO. Other experiences were always a good time. Meanwhile, my wife and her friend went to use the ladies room while we were waiting for our entrees to arrive. They went into the same stall, as is common, which women tend to do since there is limited space most women's restrooms just like the restroom at this restaurant. Within 30 secs they had a male Hollywood police officer pounding on the door yelling for them to come out. My wife had to quickly get up (in the middle of you know what) and was absolutely mortified and freaked out. Her friend with her had no idea what was going on. The officer (again a male officer in a ladies restroom!!) claimed that the manager wanted him to go in the bathroom to check that they weren't doing anything inappropriate. This Manager should be ashamed of herself since in no way was there ANY REASON AT ALL to think something inappropriate was happening. both my wife and her friend were dressed completely normal and very tastefully. The whole experience was so bizarre and my wife is still a little shaken up over it. The management at Taverna Opa should be ashamed of themselves for creating such a situation without any cause or reason. ESPECIALLY, sending a male police officer into a female restroom. We spoke with the Manager afterwards to see why she did this and she was very unapologetic but said they have had problems in the past. She had no basis to put my wife and her friend through such an embarrassing situation but was so uncontrite and unforgiving. Needless to say, we will never patron Taverna Opa ever again. It's a shame that such a horrible scenario like this could happen since the food there is actually very good.
Great evening of food and fun
Food was delicious! Service was very attentive and helpful.
Food was great the the prices are moderate. Tabels are a little tight but for a couple of hours its okay. Definitely will return again.
We were there for my daughters birthday. It is fun and interactive for kids and adults who get to dance on the table and learn a little belly dancing moves.
Made a reservation and noted in the comments that it was our anniversary. (Obviously did not matter.)
We were seated outside, as requested, but learning that the show was on the inside, we requested to go inside, due to this being the reason we chose this as our anniversary dinner. Our waiter told us, the show and dancers were over and had left. 1/2 hour later, I walked inside to use the restroom and found out this wasn’t true. Not sure why the waiter told us this other than it may have affected his tip by going inside, or because we are a interracial couple. Didn’t make sense why we couldn’t go inside and watch the belly dancing. Instead we had to stay outside inhaling exhaust fumes from a car that continued to run for about 15 minutes, literally seated 10’ from the exhaust pipe, because the cars are valet parked and backed in. Made for a very frustrating night and did not appreciate being told the show inside was over, when in fact it wasn’t. Pretty much the only reason we chose this restaurant. Worst anniversary experience in the 23 years we have been together. Wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone, let alone their anniversary.
