Taverna Opa - Hollywood
The combination of great food and celebration created a new meaning for the concept of dining. Taverna Opa employs a different approach to energize and introduce the diner to a different dimension of entertainment. Previous dining norms are broken, spirits are lifted, with every single broken plate and every single napkin in the air. The marriage of traditional with modern is what Taverna Opa promotes as the most rapidly expanding concept in the United States.
ALL WAS GOOD EXCEPT FOR HOSTESS WHO APPEARED TO CONSIDER US BURDENSOME SHE APPEARED MORE INTERESTED IN FELLOW EMPLOYEES THAN CUSTOMERS. OUR WAITER WAS GREAT AND THE FOOD, AS ALWAYS, WAS EXCELLENT. DINING OUTSIDE BY THE WATER OFFERS SPECIAL ATMOSPHERE
Well Worth the Trip!!!!
Perfect as always!
Food offerings are always good and some are great. Can’t go wrong with fish, grilled octopus, chicken dishes, traditional Greek. Service is so-so and noise too depending on time/ day. Great ambiance on the intercoastal.
Delicious and authentic food, feels just like I'm in the greek isles!
Wish smoking on the patio was not allowed.
We were a party of 2. The table for two are put on a very tight area with very little space between table. You are literally 1 foot away from the table next to you which are for parties of four only. The main part of the restaurant was empty with many table to larger parties. The food was great I must say. The beers came out a bit warm. Being uncomfortable outweighed the quality of the food. I'm a local and will not return.
Food is good. If you like loud greek music then enjoy
A Greek diner with entertainment. Bring your earplugs along during weekend dinner - it gets ridiculously loud.
First time I ever been to Greek restaurant and I loved it.., food and service was excellent,,, we’ll be back
I love the place!
One of the worst and strangest experiences I've ever witnessed or been a part of. We went to Taverna Opa on Saturday (8/17) with another couple for dinner with the anticipation of watching some fun dancing and eating great Greek food. Keep in mind this wasn't our first time at TO. Other experiences were always a good time. Meanwhile, my wife and her friend went to use the ladies room while we were waiting for our entrees to arrive. They went into the same stall, as is common, which women tend to do since there is limited space most women's restrooms just like the restroom at this restaurant. Within 30 secs they had a male Hollywood police officer pounding on the door yelling for them to come out. My wife had to quickly get up (in the middle of you know what) and was absolutely mortified and freaked out. Her friend with her had no idea what was going on. The officer (again a male officer in a ladies restroom!!) claimed that the manager wanted him to go in the bathroom to check that they weren't doing anything inappropriate. This Manager should be ashamed of herself since in no way was there ANY REASON AT ALL to think something inappropriate was happening. both my wife and her friend were dressed completely normal and very tastefully. The whole experience was so bizarre and my wife is still a little shaken up over it. The management at Taverna Opa should be ashamed of themselves for creating such a situation without any cause or reason. ESPECIALLY, sending a male police officer into a female restroom. We spoke with the Manager afterwards to see why she did this and she was very unapologetic but said they have had problems in the past. She had no basis to put my wife and her friend through such an embarrassing situation but was so uncontrite and unforgiving. Needless to say, we will never patron Taverna Opa ever again. It's a shame that such a horrible scenario like this could happen since the food there is actually very good.
Great evening of food and fun
Food was delicious! Service was very attentive and helpful.
Food was great the the prices are moderate. Tabels are a little tight but for a couple of hours its okay. Definitely will return again.
We were there for my daughters birthday. It is fun and interactive for kids and adults who get to dance on the table and learn a little belly dancing moves.
Made a reservation and noted in the comments that it was our anniversary. (Obviously did not matter.)
We were seated outside, as requested, but learning that the show was on the inside, we requested to go inside, due to this being the reason we chose this as our anniversary dinner. Our waiter told us, the show and dancers were over and had left. 1/2 hour later, I walked inside to use the restroom and found out this wasn’t true. Not sure why the waiter told us this other than it may have affected his tip by going inside, or because we are a interracial couple. Didn’t make sense why we couldn’t go inside and watch the belly dancing. Instead we had to stay outside inhaling exhaust fumes from a car that continued to run for about 15 minutes, literally seated 10’ from the exhaust pipe, because the cars are valet parked and backed in. Made for a very frustrating night and did not appreciate being told the show inside was over, when in fact it wasn’t. Pretty much the only reason we chose this restaurant. Worst anniversary experience in the 23 years we have been together. Wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone, let alone their anniversary.
Everything from the food, service and view was phenomenal.
Despite available tables the host refused to sit us next to water because she said they could be used only for groups of three or more. This is ok, but the food was atrocious! Cold appetizers tasted like someone poored a galon of lime juice on them. And the seafood plate can compete with the airline food - we suspect it wasn't fresh seafood to start with. This is the last time we visited this place.
Just as I remembered it 15 years ago when we lived here!!! Still my favorite prawns ever!!!!
Great service, location on the water which was wonderful. Terrific authentic Greek dishes. Highly recommend
Great atmosphere traditional Greek food I rate this place 5 stars
everything was fantastic! air condition could be turned up a little cooler
Food and view was excellent, waitress and valet were awful. No serving utensils with dishes EVER, plates and glasses are wayyyy too small for the price. I came here years ago and it was awesome but not so much now. Belly dancer was also great and pretty :) .
It is a fun place with delicious food and friendly staff.
Service was sub par. Hardly saw our waiter. Had to track him down for water and soda refills. The restaurant did not have iced tea. Thought that was odd. Food was palatable. Nothing that left me wanting to go back. Waiter left the bill without asking if we wanted coffee or dessert. I would not return, nor would I recommend.
This place was awesome! The most delicious Greek food we’ve had in a while. The ambiance outside was relaxed. We sat by the water. Service was attentive. The food was beyond good. Will be returning soon!
Was in the area on vacation, and was recommended to come and eat here. Food from start to finish was amazing. Had the ouzo mojito, village salad, moussaka and shrimp kabob meal. I am Greek and everything was authentic and delicious! Would highly recommend. We did miss the music and evening festivities as we had an early dinner. But overall great experience!
Amazing variety of food. Dishes are to share. Ambiance was great.
Just have patience to sit down 1/2 hour late even with reservations but is worth it
Went on a Friday night. Very crowded and lively atmosphere. Great DJ and belly dancers. The food was good and the service was okay due to overwhelming demand of customers dining. Gaby was amazing. She had a great attitude and provided an excellent service. She greeted us with a smile and made our dining experience very pleasurable.
We’re on a mini getaway. This is one of our favorite places to dine in the area. The Lavraki (aka Mediterranean Sea bass like Bronzino) was excellent. The belly dancing and DJ playing modern Greek and Mediterranean was a plus, especially when the waitresses got on the table to dance to Zorba! Ops!
The experience was shocking at best. A frequent visitor of Taverna Opa in Orlando, we were prepared for a lively, even loud experience. This was chaotic. Kids were dancing on and running around crazy to every EVERY table with no regard for patrons, and the management thought it was funny. The menu is family style so by design plates will fill a table. The tables were so small that our table of four could not fit one center dish and 4 bread plates. By the end of dinner we had stacked our plates on top of each other just to attempt eating. Our food was not brought out in any sort of fashion, and our salad only showed up (which we ordered upon sitting) at the end of dinner. We were particularly upset when they brought the saganaki (flaming cheese) after the main course (again ordered upon sitting) and it was not flaming. The waitress then came by and told us we had to eat it before it gets cold- which is how it arrived at the table in the first place.
Overall, we loved the food that was brought to us but the service and atmosphere will be a reason we will never come back to this location.
Good food, authentic atmosphere: recommend. Would come again.
Great Food, Service and Ambience. Can be a little pricey. Roadwork on Ocean Drive making it somewhat dicey to get in / out of parking lot.
It was Awesome! The food was delicious and the atmosphere was inviting.
The service was very good, friendly, fast.
The self made hummus was delicious and the bread was good.
The prices were reasonable.
It was a hot day and the AC was totally inadequate.
The rest of the food was way salty.
We ordered the smelts, lamb sliders, and the roast lamb. All too salty. And the roast lamb tasted like it was stewed not roasted. Maybe it was the chef's day off.
Great restaurant with great food. I had the roasted lamb and it was amazing. I don't even like lamb but it was delicious. It's certainly an energetic ambiance and after 8 it's as loud as a club. It's not for everyone but we had a great time watching the dancers and listening to the music. It's a show and fun.
The waitress was nice... but it was a birthday celebration, the desert and sparkler was placed on the table; quick song and rushed off. It was so fast i didn't have time to get my camera out. We ordered several appetizers then an entree, the entree was brought out 10 seconds after the last app. we had to ask that it was brought back to the kitchen until we were done with our apps. The food was just OK. We did not order a second drink as they were not good. One of the dancers is barefoot... this was supposed to be a special birthday night for us, instead it was a good amount of money for an extremely disappointing time. OH!!!! The best part was, you have to pay $4.00 for valet..(NO OTHER OPTION) Which is fine, except... I had to get my own car at the end. We handed them the $4.00 plus tip, and they handed us the keys and pointed to the car. I feel I wasted my money .. when there are so many there good choices. Very disappointing.
We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food was excellent!
I have been coming to Taverna Opa for many years and the food is always very good. Our server was very attentive and patient as I was with a friend and we were chatting awhile before ordering our dinner. Love this place!
