Californian
Tavern is the third restaurant from the chef and sommelier team of Suzanne Goin and Caroline Styne, who also own Lucques restaurant and AOC winebar. This is their West Los Angeles outpost, which serves as a local gathering spot for the Brentwood crowd. Chicly designed by Jeffrey Alan Marks, Tavern encompasses three separate, yet connected spaces: a glass roofed atrium dining room, a large blue walled bar and a café space called the Larder that features casual dining, bakery, retail and prepared foods to go. The restaurant serves Suzanne Goin’s signature California/Mediterranean cuisine with just a touch of a classic American influence.

Been to Tavern but this birthday breakfast was a first. Four of us really enjoyed being in the beautiful dining room in the morning and we will do it again

Beautiful setting.
Great service. They go above and beyond to accommodate their guests. Great pancakes for Sunday brunch!

Arrived for 715 dinner reservations and was seated in bar area. Asked for seating in dining room and hostess explained that it wasn’t possible.
Waited 10-15 minutes for server. Then ordered drinks at bar.
Food order was mostly correct one dish missing.
All else was good
Upon leaving we waited for car....fairly long time
Valet came back and said car was out of gas and wouldn’t start (?)
Walked back to back lot w valet and got in car which had gas and started fine and went home.
Mercury retrograde?

The restaurants of Suzanne Goin used to be stellar in every way but now it appears their passion for great innovative food has given way to a menu based on highest margin dishes instead. I miss the real food and care they used to give. It's a shame that today her restaurants are simply ordinary and overpriced .

My main course was noted to be moderate in size, but that was a gross overstatement. The range of deserts was limited, and the selection of aperitifs was not inclusive of libations that I enjoy.

Good food but a rather limited and unadventurous menu. Lovely space. The evening was marred, though, by our apparently over-caffeinated waiter, who could not stand still long enough to take our orders, thus missing some items and generally conveying the impression that he had much more important things to do than deal with us.

I actually enjoyed our time here. Food is expensive but good all the same.
They need to turn the lights down

Better than we ever remember! Dinner, server, atmosphere were excellent. We had not been back in a year or two, the current chef is great and his cooking will bring us back sooner!! Delicious!

We like the casual, relaxed but sophisticated surroundings. Every course was excellent (maybe less salt on salad:). Thank you!!

Atrium is lovely.
Can get crowded & loud, though.
Tables are pretty close to one another, so conversations aren't private.
Service isn't an A+, but good.
Food is tasty.

Thirty minutes before order was served. Salmon was under cooked.
Not the restaurant we are used to over the past five years. What has happened? New management?

Outstanding food although I preferred the former menu. It just changed. Pretty experience sitting in the atrium as always. Great service.

Our service was awful. It took more than 20 minutes for the server to take our food order, and then over 30 minutes for our food to arrive. It seemed like there were far too few servers in the room we were eating in, and our server was, at times, standing around with a colleague chatting instead of tending to the many tables of people needing service.

$220 for dinner for 2 with nothing special ordered from the menu. One shared starter, two mains, 1 shared side (broccoli- $14!), 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine. I should repeat “nothing special” for the food because nothing exploded in my mouth and brought a moment of ecstasy or changed my life. Nothing was bad or off, mind you, just not special in any way, shape or form. What has this city become. $220! Suzanne Goin needs to go back to the drawing board. The revolution is coming. Celebrity chefs beware.

It was our first time at Tavern. Drove up to LA from LB in Friday traffic for an early pre theatre dinner.
Were were a few minutes late but were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We loved the seating, environment ( lively but not loud) the dining room is beautiful and the music was spot on.
Our waiter was fantastic, professional and friendly. Made some great suggestions which we ordered and we were not disappointed! We had a delicious starter of Spanish fried chicken and Weiser Farms melon and prosciutto. The bread, butter and sea salt was irresistible. Our main dishes were exceptional as well.
Thank you for a great experience and getting is on our way in a timely manner.
We will definitely be back!!

Good restaurant experience but poor valet parking experience. The valet wouldn’t let me validate as usual and charged for the first time. Is there a new company?

My brunch at The Tavern was a last minute meet up with an old friend. The service was excellent especially when the server brought a Kouign Amman pastry still warm from the oven. Our salads were delicious. Wonderful location for a Sunday morning meal!

Love bringing out of town guest here for brunch. Food is great and the atrium is a lovely setting. Service is pretty good but when it gets busy on Sunday morning it starts to not be as good. Also would like a few more options on the menu For those who might be less adventuresome

Requested and sat in the Atrium for brunch. Noisy, yet not even full. Next time Id sit elsewhere although he Atrium is nice and bright. My friend had pancakes, delicious although she would ask for the blueberries on the side rather than too much piled atop, and I had the shashuka; tasty but I've had better. Service was marginal.

The food was very slow coming out and they seem to run out of items pretty fast. Food quality for the wait time was ok. The folks working there are nice. We really miss the Lador on Burton Way. The place was perfect. The food and staff were awesome. For some reason the mothership needed to learn from the extension. The Lador was very busy. Sad it's gone.

I was served their chicken and it tasted off. Another person took a bite of it and said it wasn’t cooked. Despite being assured by the waiter that it was, I don’t believe them and wouldn’t go back here. Another friend ordered the same dish and said it wasn’t his favorite and the toppings covered a lot up.
