The new dessert vanilla with raspberry sorbet and meringue was amazing .
Perfect GF birthday treat!
$220 for dinner for 2 with nothing special ordered from the menu. One shared starter, two mains, 1 shared side (broccoli- $14!), 2 cocktails and 2 glasses of wine. I should repeat “nothing special” for the food because nothing exploded in my mouth and brought a moment of ecstasy or changed my life. Nothing was bad or off, mind you, just not special in any way, shape or form. What has this city become. $220! Suzanne Goin needs to go back to the drawing board. The revolution is coming. Celebrity chefs beware.
It was our first time at Tavern. Drove up to LA from LB in Friday traffic for an early pre theatre dinner.
Were were a few minutes late but were greeted warmly and shown to our table. We loved the seating, environment ( lively but not loud) the dining room is beautiful and the music was spot on.
Our waiter was fantastic, professional and friendly. Made some great suggestions which we ordered and we were not disappointed! We had a delicious starter of Spanish fried chicken and Weiser Farms melon and prosciutto. The bread, butter and sea salt was irresistible. Our main dishes were exceptional as well.
Thank you for a great experience and getting is on our way in a timely manner.
We will definitely be back!!
Good restaurant experience but poor valet parking experience. The valet wouldn’t let me validate as usual and charged for the first time. Is there a new company?
Food was very good and staff members were friendly and professional.
Very nice restaurant, with pleasant atrium seating...
Beautiful atmosphere. Great place to lunch with girlfriends!
My brunch at The Tavern was a last minute meet up with an old friend. The service was excellent especially when the server brought a Kouign Amman pastry still warm from the oven. Our salads were delicious. Wonderful location for a Sunday morning meal!
Love bringing out of town guest here for brunch. Food is great and the atrium is a lovely setting. Service is pretty good but when it gets busy on Sunday morning it starts to not be as good. Also would like a few more options on the menu For those who might be less adventuresome
Carol was beyond excellent.
The waiter forgot to place the order.
We waited for an hour for our fish tacos
I’m a brunch snob. But Tavern was the best brunch I’ve ever had.
You have to get this dessert.
The food is good but the portions are too small. Service was good. Wine prices are too high.
Used to go here quite a bit. Went for lunch yesterday and the portions were minuscule
Brunch is outstanding! Delicious food and wonderful service.
Didn’t worth the trip nor the money. Service was poor and food portion was tiny.
Requested and sat in the Atrium for brunch. Noisy, yet not even full. Next time Id sit elsewhere although he Atrium is nice and bright. My friend had pancakes, delicious although she would ask for the blueberries on the side rather than too much piled atop, and I had the shashuka; tasty but I've had better. Service was marginal.
Busboy made us feel it was an imposition to get bread and butter. He said he would get to it when he can but he is very busy
The food was very slow coming out and they seem to run out of items pretty fast. Food quality for the wait time was ok. The folks working there are nice. We really miss the Lador on Burton Way. The place was perfect. The food and staff were awesome. For some reason the mothership needed to learn from the extension. The Lador was very busy. Sad it's gone.
Grain, egg and greens salad was delicious. Our server was excellent!
One of the most enjoyable Sunday brunches with friends and family!
I was served their chicken and it tasted off. Another person took a bite of it and said it wasn’t cooked. Despite being assured by the waiter that it was, I don’t believe them and wouldn’t go back here. Another friend ordered the same dish and said it wasn’t his favorite and the toppings covered a lot up.
Service was excellent but there was a disconnect between the server and the kitchen. My food
was delicious, however, my friend, who is a very selective eater had a problem with the ingredients of her salad, which she explained to the server The server was very nice and offered her any substitutions.
The place was lovely and the service were excellent. The grain bowl was a nice idea--and loved the soft egg--but it was way too drenched in oil. The spinach in it was soggy. I was told I couldn't get the dressing on the side so I just ordered it as is. I would not order it again unless the dressing was dialed way back or offered on the side.
I liked the buzz and humm in the main dining room. Not too noisy just jolly. Good people eating good tasty food and drink Andy having good conversation. Wait staff was excellent. Greeters were so friendly which makes a huge difference upon arrival. Love the Tavern!
Excellent service, ambience and cuisine.
Restaurant was dirty, a whole meal of eggs was tipped under our table from the previous patrons , which we unfortunately stood in . Shortage of Waiters. When our brunch lemon ricotta pancakes arrived they were very small , not the same as what we were used to , did they change their the chef and recipe? It looked totally different and there was a hair lying across one of the pancakes, totally gross.
Service was horrible due to shortage of wait staff.
This was a restaurant I had previously enjoyed and looked forward to going back, unfortunately something has changed for the worse. Horrible experience.
Great ambiance for out of town guests. While the menu at brunch may seem a bit off-putting ( not your typical choices) everyone loved what they ordered. Nothing left on a single plate.
A bit pricey overall and the service was competent but not welcoming ( the front hostesses were great and especially helpful as I was on crutches).
I will continue to To choose tavern as an out-of-town treat, I don’t know I will frequent on my own
I accidentally left my credit card behind after a business lunch and as I was in the parking lot around the corner ready to take off to drive another hour and a half home, my phone rang and it was the restaurant calling to let me know. Had I not booked it through open table they never could have known my number. Thank you open table!
Suzanne Goin continues to set the standard in LA for fine dining. The offerings at Tavern, like those at AOC and Lucques, are imaginative and consistently well-prepared.
Our problem at Tavern was the service. What should have been a leisurely 1.5 hour lunch turned into a 2.5 hour forced march. It might well have gone even longer had one of our party not
mastered the art of waving his hands in the air as if to signal a cardiac emergency.
The poor service, our party agreed, was the inevitable product of understaffing. As best we could tell, there were only two waiters on the floor. The busboys filled in as best they could, but were obviously not empowered to do waiterish things.
Because we live far from Brentwood, we've patronized Tavern infrequently and can't really compare those long-ago visits to what we recently experienced. I can only hope this was a one-off problem.
First time back at the old Hamburger Hamlet. Good brunch experience overall - the acoustics can be an unavoidable issue. Want to return for dinner at some point as well.
Half-life my short rib tacos were fat. The orders we were getting them wrong. My friend asked for fish taco and she got short rib, the drinks were coming to the wrong person and missing tings like cherry, etc. The coconut watermelon drink tasted like lemonade. Mentioning a few things that can be improved.
Food and service were excellent and the atmosphere was delightful!
Everything was great. The food was particularly good. We go out often and it's not easy to find a good restaurant with a nice ambience and on the same time very good food. All our dishes were delicious. The price was average for LA
Small portions and over priced
Super! That’s why we keep going back!
Service was attentive and food was amazing - I had salmon over tabouli with pistachios and it was fantastic
Tavern never disappoints - perfect setting for a quiet dinner. Cocktails, appetizers and meal was delicious. AND the best part of the night was THE FUNNEL CAKE...wow...ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL !!!
It was quiet summer early evening dinner so the restaurant was quit empty at first in the
dining room. The bar was very busy and noisy as usual. Happy not to be sitting there.
The food has been consistently good and always most pleasant wait staff.
