Great brunch place for large party (we were party of seven). The food was good, service was lovely, and the view of the park was a real treat. We were there for two hours on a weekend. The avocado toast and crème brulee were excellent; the carrot cake was mediocre.
I love it at Tavern on the Green, the staff are great. Food is wonderful and not too expensive. Always have a wonderful time!
The hostess and seating situation was not very nice.
Took my partner and her Father there to celebrate my partners promotion. Arranged for flowers to be sent and Champagne on the table. Filled out a form before hand and communication was simple. We arrived about ten minutes early and the table wasn't ready, fair enough. There was also miscommunication about champagne choice etc, easily solvable. it meant our table was around 10 minutes late but we grabbed a drink at the bar. I would have preferred a more seamless entry to the restaurant but the night beyond this was perfect.
We were disappointed with our experience. We made reservations but waited for about ten minutes before being seated. Then we were seated in the very noisy and very dark bar area instead of the restaurant. Our waiter was not attentive at all. Once he took our order, he did not come to check on us. We had to ask to see the dessert menu, and we had to ask for the bill. The person filling our water glasses was very attentive. We did enjoy the food, and the restaurant, of course, is iconic for New York City (even though this is not the original Tavern on the Green), but we were dissatisfied with our experience.
We had a wonderful meal and a fantastic time celebrating my wife's birthday.
A fantastic place with great staff. Especially our waiter max. He was amazing.
Great customer service. Celebrated my daughters 14th birthday they surprised her with a birthday cake with ice cream on the house. Made reservations easy and everything was amazing.
We went at 11 am on Saturday. It was quiet and not touristy. I was very concerned. But was I ever proved wrong. It was very delightful.
Get the short rib! Best thing on the menu!
Historic landmark that never losses its charm!!
The food was excellent & the service impeccable! We had an amazing time here.
Service was great everything was perfect
Some of the staff were extraordinary, but our server seemed uninterested in really wowing us. She hit all of the steps of service, but it seemed generic and somewhat rushed. We saw what looked like a manger on the line eating from the prep/cook area. The food was good, but it wasn’t incredible and the price point is pretty high. The ambience is lovely.
Lovely interior. Great food for lunch. Good service. Not too crowded since it was a weekday lunch. Would definitely go again.
Nice ambience. More expensive than "The Boathouse" but not better food or service.
From the atmosphere to the service and food, everything was excellent for our first visit and experience here!
A beautiful dinner celebrating my husband's 80th birthday. I had mentioned to our children that we were having dinner at Tavern on the Green while we were in NYC. We were surprised when finishing the complimentary birthday cake and our waiter announced that he had another surprise for us. He presented us a card from our children wishing my husband Happy 80th Birthday in addition to paying for our dinner. My daughter was extremely impressed with the professionalism and ease in making the arrangements.
We were eager to see in person this very famous place and we were not disappointed
Service was on par with Applebee’s. Table of 4 and one had to wait 10 minutes after the others were serverved before being served. Had to ask for water refill after 3 glasses were empty. Second round of drinks weren’t served until we had finished and we were seated across from the bar. Very underwhelming experience overall.
Came for brunch. Not disappointed. Very good food and service.
Menu is stale. Third visit over three years. Same menu.
French Onion soup was cold.
Great Ambiance. Excellent waiter.
Went for brunch & sat in the glassed in terrace. Beautiful building with so much history. Even though it was a cold rainy day the atmosphere was warm & bright. Something for everyone on the menu. Best part of or experience was our waitress Lauren. She added to the light celebratory feel of the meal for us. We were there with my boyfriends 10 year old son & 20 year old daughter & all of us agreed it was the best overall dining experience we had over our 3 day trip to the city. Highly recommend it - beautiful any time of year.
Catching up with old friends from 30 years ago
We were there for a college graduation celebration and they had a note waiting for our daughter then a dessert with candle later in the meal. So nice. Even in winter the lit patio was so elegant. Just a charming place. I don't know where some of the negative food comments we saw online came from we thought the food was very good - saw several comments about overpriced for the quality - we disagree. Part of what you pay for is the experience and it was worth every dime (like a trip to DisneyWorld vs a 3 day carnival).
We were warmly greeted at our arrival. As we were early for our reservation we enjoyed an appetizer and drinks at the beautifully appointed bar. The hostess came at 5 pm to escort us to our table in the dining area. A beautiful, open room with glasses wall facing what is in the proper season, outside seating, was were we were seated for dinner.
Our server, Manny (Manuel C on the receipt) was delightful. He was very courteous and informative. As we were headed to the theatre after dinner, we paced our ordering and eating accordingly. Manny was very accommodating in terms of this pace. He did not push or rush us, which is a rare feature in American restaurants today! Excellent food, nice portion sizes and delicious. My only comment regarding my meal was that the Whole fish, Bronzini, was a bit dry, but otherwise delicious. The cheeses and baby octopus appetizers were also well presented, prepared, and delicious. The peanut butter chocolate lava cake dessert was delicious. Thank you Manny for your great service, attentiveness and good sense of humor.
We had a fabulous evening. This was my second visit to the new incarnation of the Tavern. My first was restaurant-week lunch and I wasn't so impressed, either with the food or comparing the "glamour" This time we gathered for a celebration dinner. Everything was perfect. The wine list included some reasonable choices which we made (2 bottles for 6 people). The hit appetizers were the roasted figs and also the chopped vegetable salad (a melange of cooked root veggies in a salad with dressing--wonderful!) We all loved our mains: the grilled pork chop was as tender and juicy as steak; the salmon was excellent; the veal was superb and the vegetarian plate delicious. We split a few desserts, the star being the pecan tart, with our coffees. We treated the celebrant and frankly the bill was not much more than any usual dinner in Manhattan. And this was well above usual. In the lounge there was live music and dancing afterwards. The wait staff was excellent; the waiter was there when you needed him and unobtrusive when you didn't. All the plates were served to the correct person; water was refilled and bread re-offered without disturbance. Perfect! I am so glad we came back to the Tavern. I will now do so more often.
Excellent experience. Celebrating milestone birthday.
Every time we go to NY we love to visit this restaurant.
Had a reservation. They seated us 20-30 minutes late. Server also appeared to have too many tables to take care of - he was cordial and checked in frequently. It's a great location and a great spot to bring out of Town guests to, but the restaurant needs to work on timing.
My wife and I dined in celebration of our 20 years of love. Our server Mak was outstanding!!!! Everyone was welcoming and the food was delicious.
Enjoyed the meal. Desserts were amazing. A little pricey. Too many young kids for my taste. Would prefer a room without and will ask for the bar area in the future.
We love Tavern on the Green and have had plenty of good experiences. This was our first dinner experience and as always most of the food was great. Our waitress unfortunately wasn't. I believe it all started with our pack of drink orders, since we're all dieting and went just with water. We also had three kids with us and she was less than excited about us ordering from the kids menu for them...most likely affected yet bottom line.
We'll definitely he back, but hope for a better experience next time.
This was our favourite place to eat during our vacation in New York - so much history, beaitiful, romantic lighting, amazing food and a fantastic server!
Beautiful ambiance. The staff made our anniversary celebration very memorable
Teen daughter first visit to NYC reward trip for being outstanding student and serving the community winning presidential gold award for service
This was a must when visiting New York! Group of friends and I came here before our broadway show and it was the best dinner we had our whole entire trip! Loved everything!
It was my daughter’s 16th birthday and they surprised her with a beautiful piece of cake. It was a wonderful surprise!
We had dinner after the theatre on January 1. The restaurant was quiet (I think we had the last reservation of the evening). The setting is magical in the evening. Besides being beautiful, the food was outstanding. I would come back just for the salmon rilletes with brioche toast and a glass of Cava. The whole meal was memorable and we look forward to returning the next time we are in NYC.
