   My Wife’s Birthday! I forgot the servers name but she was outstanding. She took so good care of us and even brought out a Birthday Cake with candles and even sang with me Hoppy Birthday!!! Thank you for the wonderful time!!!

   We were rushed through brunch. From start to finish - probably 45 minutes maximum from arrival to leaving. The waiter brought our check before we requested it, and returned twice to get payment though we were not ready. It was a very uncomfortable experience. We visited the restaurant for brunch at 9.30am on sunday morning. The restaurant was not particularly busy (and even if it had been I would expect to enjoy more than 45 minutes at a table). We were very disappointed with the meal and are unlikely to return.

    All very nice. Had table inside (AC) but view of their lovely huge garden. Can get table outside too if you prefer. No rushing, just very nice. Very pretty, bright, cheery. All good, very good. (One thing — Not so great if you’re on a budget.).

    For such a beautiful venue with good ambiance the service was not what we were expecting. We moved through from the restaurant to the bar area and mistakenly left a phone and a vape on the restaurant table. Came back immediately when we realized and we’re when we asked if the food team had been handed in, the response was rude - ‘you are lucky we kept your phone but the cape has been thrown in the trash.’ We asked could they just check? The response was again - ‘no, I told you that it’s not our responsibility and you’re lucky we still have the phone’ I understand that we shouldn’t have left the items but people do make mistakes and even if the vape had been thrown away, the manner in which the query was handled was nothing but abrupt and rude.

    Food is great so is atmosphere. Tired of the host attitude , waitress was great , called manager over to complain about waiting with my 2 year old and he reports back that the host thought we were seated. What a fool both the manager and host are putrid but the brunch menu is fantastic as is the food. Tourists a negative also but I get it

    We showed up at 12:50 for a 12:45 outdoor reservation and were made to wait 15 minutes while at least 10 other parties came in and were sat outside instantly. I checked in with the hostess who expressed zero remorse and said they’d get us seated…still had to wait another five minutes after that. Zero urgency or hospitality. Then, once we finally were taken to be seated the woman leading us said “the table we were supposed to be seated at had someone in it.” Waited longer…finally were sat. Our server checked in an asked what water we wanted then disappeared for 20 minutes. 35 minutes into being at the restaurant we hadn’t even placed a drink order. So we left. Pretty pathetic for a place charging $22 for a brunch cocktail. Can’t hate on the food cuz we didn’t have any but everything we saw looked good. Front of house needs to be better.

    Thought this was going to be too touristy but it was terrific. Food was outstanding, service was professional and attentive. We haven't been here in many years and they have done a wonderful job with atmosphere.

    Beuatiful place. A little slow with service. Could not read the bill and thought they may have added the tip since party was 10 people but when i only gave 7 percent tip on a 1k bill. Waiter wondered what was wrong with his service instead 9f saving me the embarassment of his asking. I added 20. When food is expensive and you are just bringing plates to the table, i think less tha 20 percent of a gross with tax is okay.

    Food was great and you can’t beat the ambience. We both had salmon burgers and the burger to bun ratio was awesome, I think my salmon burgers are always better, the taverns needs a little salt and cilantro added, but overall great experience and will be back.

    We arrived at 11 am, when it opened, and there was already a line of people waiting. Fortunately the hostess and the staff moved everyone very quickly and we were seated within a few minutes. Our waiter was very attentive, our water glasses were never less than half full and the food, as always, was delicious. The restaurant and setting are so gorgeous that it would seamlessly transition from a perfect place for a romantic proposal to a casual lunch in the garden with friends.

    The evening was wonderful. The service was amazing. They made my daughter feel special on her 16th birthday. It was nice to know that the food stay good even after the pandemic. An experience everyone should have.

    Our last trip to NYC was in 2004. We went to the Tavern both times. While it was great in 2004, our experience was even better in 2022. Great improvements and a more modern menu. Same wonderful service and ambiance. Thanks!

    Restaurant seems a bit understaffed and certain details were missed that just should not happen in a fine dining establishment. Wine at the wrong temperature, multiple orange pits that the kitchen never bothered to remove found in multiple entrees, etc. Six months ago restaurants were struggling w staff issues. At this point if you decide to stay in business you should find a model that works. It’s not that no one is willing to work. It’s that no one is willing to work at this pay level in that type of environment. Figure it out. At this price point, the quality of service is atrocious.

    Everything was incredible except the fact that we had a 7:30 reservation and came at 6:40 asking if we could get sat earlier. They had us wait at the bar. We noticed a lot of available tables however and that walk ins were being taken straight to tables. They basically purposefully forgot about us and gave preference to people without a reservation. It upset us. When we finally went and asked again at 715 they sat us. Food was phenomenal, waiter was great and it was so incredibly stunning.

    My understanding is this historic landmark establishment was closed for over a decade and reopened last year under new ownership after a stint as a visitor center or something. Space would be better utilized as a public restroom. We were so excited to visit for our 1st anniversary dinner. Dressed for the occasion, high expectations, disappointed on every level. Staff was sloppy, unprofessional, and hurried in the most irritating of ways. Menu selection terrible … the only cut of beef was a sirloin??? $17 for some old soggy broccoli with three bacon bits thrown on top. Waitress didn’t tell us about any specials until we asked AFTER our appetizers were already on the table (only specials were two appetizers). Chicken was flavorless and overcooked. Au gratin made who knows when. People in flip flops and shorts. Keep it classy NYC. I NEVER write reviews but feel compelled to warn others to lower their expectations and maybe go for a casual lunch only if you dare. The building was nice where we sat in the greenhouse area. I could go on… let’s just say we skipped dessert entirely and ran away as fast as we could. Tonight I’m paying for a tasting menu adventure in Manhattan to make up for that supreme let down.
