Did not live up to its reputation. The butternut squash soup was very good, as was the chopped vegetable salad. The grilled lobster and pea risotto was more like lobster crumbs and raw pea risotto. The short ribs were average. Ambiance was beautiful.
The ambiance was amazing. Food presentation absolutely on point. 🔥🔥🔥
It was a great experience.
Clemens our server was very nice. The supervisor came to greet us.
This place is magical... perfect for something special. Food was over the top delicious. Service was very friendly but slow. The biggest issue was this was my daughter's 13th Birthday. I sent numerous emails regarding a Birthday candle in her dessert. Was responded to that all would be taken care of. There are many Celebrations at this gorgeous spot and she saw a lot of Birthday songs and candles go by during our dinner. When her dessert arrived there was nothing...
she was crushed and then me running around trying to find out/fix what went wrong just made it worse. They finally showed up with a candle and a slice of cake. Just a flat ending. It was still beautiful and we are Blessed to have visited.
Great date night, wonderful ambiance, good food, couldn’t have asked for more
I cannot begin to express how fantastic the staff is. It was my birthday and they went out of their way to make it special. The manager came by to wish me happy birthday by name and they gave us a great table. I will be making this a yearly tradition.
We were greeted warmly and immediately shown to a table. The food was excellent as was the ambiance - tho the noise level was very loud. Only negative was initial service. It took a while to be waited on and the water guy forgot to bring our water and never offered bread. Once our waiter got involved things moved much more quickly.
Great hearing Fluer Seule in person ! Great experience
This was one of the best restaurant experiences we’ve had. Beautifully decorated inside and out. Music outside was phenomenal. Food was fantastic. Loved everything about this.
Charming building. Excellent service. Was delighted to go there.
So disappointing. I was there few weeks ago and it was a great experience and made reservations again when friends were visiting. Too slow to sit us down. Initially our table was in full sun which we refused. Took 1:15 minutes to get our food! Super slow service my brother asked 5 different people to bring his drink! My cousin had to leave before dessert to pick up her kid. Pity. I had hoped it would become my go to place but we don’t have time for 31/2 hours long lunches on a Friday .
Waited more than 20 minutes to be greeted for drinks. It took 45 minutes to receive our appetizer. The Cobb Salad was much too heavily dressed and limp. The price tag is too steep - $125 for lunch for two - to have anything but exceptional food and service.
Dined in outdoor patio for lunch. Food was great (pea risotto and cobb salad); South Africa wine good value; service superb (no obvious staff shortages). Much better experience compared to prior visits pre-pandemic. Highly recommended.
Wonderful experiance. The best food and atmosphere.
Beautiful, magical setting outside. Menu is way too limited. It would be nice if it offered pizza and more pastas at dinner. Live music was a bit schmaltzy for my taste. Jazz or old standards would have been much better.
You’ll never make a mistake in dining at Tavern on the Green. The hostesses and waiters are friendly and quick. The manager Jordan is welcoming and keeps things running smoothly. And the food never disappoints. Ask for the specials - they’re the best. Thanks guys.
Fabulous food in a fabulous setting!
We had such a beautiful evening. Our server was wonderful, the food was outstanding and The musician was so talented. We had The fillet mignon special, and the short rib dish, both were very good. The shrimp appetizer and garlic butter was also excellent. . Not only was the restaurant absolutely wonderful, but they surprised me with a dessert for my birthday. We will definitely return.
Loved the salmon burger and fish and chips. Great experience
Beautiful location and ambience is outstanding. Servers are very courteous if a little busy. Food needs some work to justify the cost. That said the pasta special, although small, was great. French onion soup was ok, but too sweet. Cobb salad was rather tasteless. It was romaine lettuce with a few topping. Although there was 1/2 an avocado, there was so little chicken I’m not even sure there was 1 full ounce. Deviled egg on the salad was good, but truthfully for $28 it was incredibly disappointing. The burgers served around us did look good though. They cost about the same. So go fit the ambience, but skip the soup and salad.
Wonderful service, good food, special birthday treatment and beautiful, large outdoor dining patio … all in Central Park.
Great place for a special occasion. Service was very attentive and our meals were delicious. Will be stopping by every time I am in NYC.
Clean, comfortable, great food. Our server, Sharon, was very friendly, engaging and attentive. Loved the history and the ambiance.
Now we can say we’ve been, which is about all you get for your money because food was severely overpriced for what you get and service left much to be desired.
Our anniversary and Tavern treated us so nicely! The dessert was so thoughtful and very delicious! The wait staff was friendly and attentive and had paid attention to my note on my reservation that is was our anniversary. I appreciated the attention to detail!
All good. My Cobb salads in last were fabulous. Today mediocre . As well as the fall fizz. All ok.
I had a very memorial 25th anniversary lunch at Tavern on the Green this week. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was romantic, and the staff was courteous. I highly recommend this restaurant for an anniversary, a date night, or event a romantic lunch.
Great food and even better service and ambience. Had an excellent time there.
My daughter and I ordered the fig appetizer which was a delicious mix of savory and sweet. Our waiter suggested the special lamb shank with polenta and spinach and it was melt-in-your-mouth good. And since we were splitting everything, we finished it off with creme brulee and cappuccino. We didn't order the weather, but who doesn't love NYC in October? It was a lovely lead-in to the ballet at 7:30.
Our food was excellent and Allison was helpful, attentive and friendly. We will certainly consider dining at Tavern on the Green again.
This is a beautiful restaurant with great big windows and great outdoor seating. Too bad they sat me in front of, and facing, the kitchen. All I heard was banging pots and pans, and all I was able to view was food prep. This seating would be better as outward facing booths. Be sure to assist the host in picking your seating when coming here.
Very pleasant location in garden. Food ok, not great. Nice, friendly service.
Awilda made our night extra special — thank you so much!
Beautiful ambiance in an iconic location. Food was bland.
Our server and his associate (whose names I cannot remember) were both excellent! Food was also extremely good, and prices were quite reasonable for New York this year. It was our first experience at Tavern.... We will go back.
We had a lovely time. Out of towner interested in old NYC experience. We were not disappointed.
Our tradition on Birthday weekend is to have Sunday Brunch at The Tavern on the Green. They’ve never disappointed us and this time is no different. The Eggs Benedict and French Toast as always amazing! Peach Bellini is a delight every time. Great friendly staff and ambience and Central Park make this our favorite place in NYC
Nice brunch spot
We were spending the weekend in NYC with our grandchildren and wanted to treat them to a special breakfast at an iconic Central Park restaurant. Our brunch was simply delicious. The service and setting were outstanding. We started with a pastry basket with a wonderful assortment of goodies. For our main meals we had Brioche french toast, Eggs Benedict and Steak and Eggs. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and my grandson also enjoyed a Shrimp Cocktail with delicious hot chocolate. All in all a very memorable meal.
