Jim and David, architect Richard Lewis and landscape architect Robin Key, preserved the Victorian/ Gothic elegance of the semi-circular building; it is authentic, natural, elegant and sexy. It has been re-built to spectacular precision and the décor is of a grand farmhouse one might find on the property of an Italian Villa or a historic Hudson River Valley mansion.

A really enjoyable experience. The food was excellent, and the server,Tony, was great. We were served on time and efficiently even though the restaurant was very busy. A memorable experience which topped off a fabulous New York Youth Symphony concert at Carnegie Hall. We plan on going when my grandson who is at Julliard has a concert this fall,

Bad management. I had a guest from out of town, a vegetarian and they were out of ravioli at 7 pm . I approached a manager about this matter and he was rude and not helpful. An extremely unpleasant experience and certainly not the way the Restaurant was 15 years ago. I will certainly not be coming back. The patio furniture was cheap and no dress code for a restaurant that has such an classy reputation. The elegance is definitely gone!!!! Such a disappointment!!

Wrote on reservations occasion was birthday celebration. Hostess when sitting us asked are we celebrating anything special, said was birthday celebration. Our waiter never asked and we never said anything. One advice I'd say is that they should communicate better with each other. Hostess should know when customer check in by looking at the computer what the occasion is if customer decides to write it during rsvp. And if hostess does ask, what are we celebrating, they should pass on the message to the waiter..

My wife and I went to Tavern on The Green for our anniversary and had a fantastic experience. We had dinner outside, which was beautiful. We both had the Crab & Avocado appetizer which was delicious. I had the Diver Scallops A La Plancha, which was excellent and flavorful, and my wife had the Seared Sirloin Steak which was cooked to perfection. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend!

I brought up my family from Atlanta for a six night vacation of Broadway Plays and fine dining. I last dinner at the Tavern in 1964 on an early date with my soon to be bride. We were on field trip for the World’s Fair from the University of Florida where we were students at the time. Beautiful ambience outside on the terrace to be remembered. Today’s lunch was exceptional and led by our excellent server Jose and his team. Be ready for a hefty check…a little more than we paid in 1964.

We enjoyed an exceptional dinner at Tavern on the Green. Our party of three sat outside in the beautifully appointed and elegantly light-scaped courtyard. Our waiter Laura was attentive, welcoming, and never missed a beat during our 3-hour dinner. We began our dinner enjoying a bottle of Crémant d’Alsace Brut Rosé, a sparkling rosé. We ordered chicory salads, roasted chicken breast with fingerling potatoes, and scallops a la plancha. Each dish was well-prepared and nicely presented. The gluten-free bread is served warm and perfectly grilled. If you want a light but not-too-sweet dessert, you are in for a treat with the lemon sorbet. If you need a sweet fix, then consider the cheesecake. Oh, and to make it even more perfect, the barista made me a decaf oat milk macchiato. Laura, our fantastic waiter, and the entire team deserve kudos for a beyond-wonderful dinner.

We were greeted at the door and taken to our seats - and told it was the Birthday table. We were treated very nicely - the wait staff was all pleasant and communicative folks - a surprise birthday cake was brought to the table in addition to the ordered desserts. I have eaten at the Tavern many times but this was my first trip back since pandemic. Food was really bad all around. Many of my guests did not eat their meals. Beautiful historic setting but sadly, inedible food.

Slow to get seated, slow to get service, slow on the drinks. Steak and eggs was not worth it. Boring cut of meat and uninspiring eggs. Maine lobster Benedict was good though. Seats was too low for the table. I think it’s overrated.
