An absolute magical experience!
Everything was great from the food the the ambiance. Will go again.
Excellent within everything that was done !
So even though I request a table on a window with a view I was sat outside. No problem, it is just that we were not asked if the alternate seating arrangement was acceptable. Also it was a special occasion, but no one inquired to the occasion to bring attention to it. Oh well, such is life.
What a great way to celebrate the opening of NYC!!
We celebrated my husband's birthday here on Monday. Everything was perfect from our welcome, to serving service, to delicious food, to our departure. The staff was impeccable, seating comfortable, food delicious, view special!
It is not only the food that makes this a "standout" but the ambiance created by a recent spectacular historic restoration (look up and around inside and out.) The Sheepfold was built to house sheep and their keeper from the 1870s to mid 1930s. After the sheep were removed, the building was renovated into The Tavern on the Green Restaurant.
More recently the outside and inside, were again, meticulously renovated. It is a beautiful "trip" back in time. In addition to dining indoors, there is a lovely outdoor space for cocktails and appetizers. The overall inside decor is a delight and when combined with views outdoors: a wonderful dining experience, hard to match anywhere in NYC.
We took our daughter to lunch after her graduation. Service was outstanding, food was fantastic. They made my daughter feel extra special and surprised her with a slice of their confetti cake and ice cream.
The only negative would be that there weren’t any designated places to park for the restaurant, only parking on the street. We were fortunate however to park across from the entrance, probably because of the time of day that we were there. (2:30 during the week).
The ambiance was amazing! Friendly staff and the restaurant atmosphere was really nice. The food was great but nothing special for the price.
LOVELY!!! JUST LOVELY!! After one year the wait staff is just kind blowing the atmosphere was outstanding!! Superb experience. I’m the happiest person
Always a beautiful place to enjoy a drink and a meal with friends ❤️
The entire experience transported us from a Covid filled world into a beautiful brunch in Central Park.
An amazing treat and awesome meal.
We went to tavern on the green for a birthday celebration! Everything was amazing! Service spectacular, food AWESOME, jazz band perfect!! Birthday cake delish! Thank you thank you
This is our fave family brunch spot — with great food, friendly server and staff, and beautiful decor and ambience.
Great location for brunch. Located right in Central Park with nice views. Staff was very professional.
Fabulous! First visit for some of my guests and they raved over the stupendous eggs Benedict. Great service and great food. It was so great to there on their first weekend back. Great place for get togethers with really good service.
Was there for a brunch with my husband and kids for my 40th birthday. We had a great time! The food was delicious
We can recommend the Hot Cucumber cocktail and the chicken and pork chop. Absolutely amazing!
It was our anniversary. The restaurant so kindly wrote happy anniversary on our dessert!
Livig in NYC for almost 11 years without trying Tavern on the Green was just not my intent. Like everyone around the world, the pandemic made me more an intentional person. I had a feeling it was going to be a special dining journey when we arrived at the host stand. A kind-voiced woman had asked if she could join her friends inside the restaurant whom were all already seated. I was floored to see that it was none other than....NOPE, not gonna tell. Let’s just say she’s tennis royalty. I blurted out a short but ecstatic ‘Hello (insert name)’ and she began to reply back! I was tickled pink!
Anywho, temp checks later we were whisked to our table for an indoor request. Let me tell you when I say the table was 5-star table!! Location, sunlight quality/quantity, privacy and the vantage point of a panoramic view of the patio... let’s make that 10-stars!!
Shortly after being seated this bundle of joy named Sharon F was to be our server and we were delighted! From the moment we gathered ourselves till the the last sip, Sharon F was so attentive, bubbly, easy-going and superlative!!
She guided us to some perfect dish recommendations that turned out to be what the doctor ordered! It’s like she knew what we wanted!!!
I started with the Fig dish and my boyfriend had the potato pancakes.... blew our minds! So tasty without being so overpowering. The potato pancakes were eerily reminiscent of the way my own mother made them when I was a child so that really got me in the feels!! Needless to say, get them STAT!!
For the entrees I had the brioche French toast and my boyfriend the Tavern burger.... excuse me?!?!? The flavors, the presentation and the perfect balance of each bite had us dancing in our bellies!!! Again, order these STAT!
Thank you to the entire staff for such a lovely and memorable dining experience!! If you haven’t gone to Tavern on the Green since their re-opening... you’d be cuckoo not to!! Next time we go it will be for dinner!!! We can’t wait!!
Everything was absolutely perfect! Highly recommend Tavern on the Green.
The ambiance was wonderful but there was a piece of plastic in my lobster risotto. We informed the staff and they deducted a round of drinks from the tab.
Lovely restaurant. Service was excellent! Food was delicious. Highly recommends
Tavern on the Green is a NYC must! The food is superb, the ambiance is classy yet casual, the service is outstanding, every time we thought about our waitress, she magically appeared, it was awesome!
Wonderful meal. Had to move inside due to wind but absolutely loved our experience.
Excited it reopened but what a waste of money. A cheese & meet place w literally 3 slices of meat & 3 slabs of cheese for $24 & crudités plate for $15 - no thanks. Disappointed
Very disorganized. I understand that it can be hard to accommodate everyone. But they left us on a sofa inside promising a table when none were available. They could have just told us that it was too busy, it would have been totally acceptable.
Restaurant is very nice and overall we had a nice lunch the only issue was at time we arrived to restaurant. We had reservations but we still had to wait in line and it took a while to get seated (well past our reservation time). They should do a much better job organizing tables matching with reservation schedule... this is a pretty basic ask.
Tavern on the Green is a magical experience not to be missed.
A must go to restaurant whenever you’re in Central Park. Service and food is always at its best!
My family went on the first night of reopening. Lovely atmosphere with live performance and the service was very attentive. My young kids loved the bamboo straws for their water. The fig starter and the shrimp was very nice. The steak was delicious and the portion was very generous. The lamb chop was a bit stringy.
We celebrated a birthday just before everything in NYC closed, once again we were very pleased by our time there, worth the visit!!
We loved our experience here and the staff was amazing! They went above and beyond to make our brunch perfect and were very attentive. The atmosphere was lovely and the location couldn’t be beat. A must do in New York!
Exceptional food in a stunning setting with great service
Despite the reservation it took a while to be seated. Food was really good and server Zhanna was awesome. Ambiance wasn’t so special - expected a lot more but it was still nice. Haven’t been there in about 20 years and was expecting more from an iconic landmark place. Food made up for it despite the price.
Sadly this was our last night out to dinner in NYC in March. I am sad to see how many places are still closed and.at least can hold on to the memories of our night there for my husbands 50th.
We had a lovely afternoon dining in the glassed-in area, with a view of Central Park activities nearby. The restaurant was not crowded, the servers attentive, my hamburger was huge, messy, and delicious. A thoroughly great experience! And we split a piece of key lime pie to celebrate Pi Day.
Very nice! Amazing food.
We visited Tavern on the Green for brunch on Saturday morning on the weekend where all Broadway shows were shut down due to the Coronavirus. My daughter and I had flown in from Atlanta to see Hamilton for her birthday which unfortunately didn't happen because of the shut down. We were leaving on Saturday afternoon but decided to try TOTG to see if they were still open. They were, and while they were relatively empty, the service was no less impeccable and the staff no less friendly. In fact, they went above and beyond to give us a wonderful experience, even with everything going on in the world. They even brought out a birthday cake for my ten-year-old! Bravo to everyone for helping turn a bad situation into a memorable experience.
The food was outstanding, presentation was very pleasing, and the servers were attentive. The serving sizes are adequate--portions are neither too big nor small. The prices are high, but it's worth it for a special meal.
Truly a great experience..we always have one meal there when we visit
