Meal was perfect
Kids asked “what will we do with leftovers...”
There were none
We left full and walked around Central Park
Was a great day
Perfect date night setting!
Great Father's Day experience at Tavern on the Green. My daughter and I had a wonderful evening. The service was outstanding. Unforgetable evening at a classic venue. Well done.
The waiters and host were very accommodating to my 13 month old son. They were pleasant and very professional... the timing of the courses were great and the food was tasty. I was very pleased.
Go at least once for the ambiance and the vibe, then stroll Central Park. Oh, and the chocolate brownie dessert is to die for!
We went there for Fathers Day. Table of 5. We had reservations & still waited another 15 minutes. Just enough time to spend some $ in the gift shop (so not a problem) our waiter was very nice & attentive. Food was really good
We requested outdoor seating and was told they were not seating outside due to potentially inclement weather. A minute after we sat the sun came out and they started seating other parties outside. No one bothered to ask if we’d like to be seated elsewhere. Our table was in the aisle and near the waitress station, but we did not get water until 25 minutes after we sat. Our waitress was pleasant and upbeat. Our food arrived in average amount of time, but the order was incorrect and had to be returned. The incorrect order was charged and then removed. We should not have been charged at all!!
Food flavors were subpar and bland!
I don’t think I will revisit this tourist trap!
Our server was great, ambiance wonderful. We had an issue w our order, but it was made right.
Always great for brunch - busy, active....surrounded by people truly enjoying themselves.
Afterward a stroll thru the park is great.....sit on a bench....enjoy the shade or sunshine in the
green park setting. Perfect!
Hermoso lugar en el Central Park
Great Father’s Day brunch. Live band. Come here every year on Father’s Day food A++..
Our food was lukewarm, as if it had been just sitting under a warm lamp. It was borderline cold. Also, our server was inattentive and waters were constantly empty. After receiving the bill, it took 20 minutes for our waitress to come back to pick up the check. For the price and reputation of this restaurant, our Father’s Day brunch was very disappointing.
Awesome! Max is most excellent in providing attention, service and Dunn facts on trinity knots!
Ambiance was great, service was great, food was delicious....but cold.
Amazing service, food, and atmosphere! Perfect night, and absolutely loved the outdoor seating next to the live Jazz ensemble on Saturday night! The wait staff was also kind enough to move our table! It was an absolutely stunning, magical experience:)
Amaizin place and food. Great expiriance
Always a treat, Tavern on the Green consistently delivers on taste and friendly waitstaff. Outside dining is especially lovely in the twilight with their mini chandelier lightbulbs. Eefext for Date night, girlfriends night, or Mom and Me brunch.
Extremely expensive for the amount and quality of food. If you are a tourist and just want to experience this place, then you should. It will be extremely loud and you will hurt your voice trying to speak over everyone, so you should know that. You also get very little food for the price that you pay - and I am comparing that to NYC standards. Beautiful area, but I prefer the Boathouse.
We arrived at the Tavern at our reserved time. They sat us almost immediately. I felt a bit under-dressed but we were traveling and it couldn’t be avoided. The interior is beautiful. The hostess was nice. We sat where we had requested per Open Table, in the glass atrium. Unfortunately with the noon sun overhead, the atrium was too hot. We asked to be relocated which they did fairly promptly. We sat outside under an umbrella. It was much nicer. Live music was outside. It was very energetic and nice. It was very busy on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Service seemed a little slow, but ultimately it wasn’t. I was just impatient our first day of vacation. Food was wonderful. Prices high for what you get, but the quality was wonderful. It was a nice experience. We were celebrating our anniversary. We didn’t get anything special for that, but they did remember. That was nice.
We went on a sunny Saturday for brunch, good food and drinks! Had a wonderful time!
This was our first time at Tavern on the Green. The ambience was great, the food was so good, and the service was amazing. We will be back the next time we are in New York. I had the English muffin avocado and we shared the maple bacon. Would recommend both.
It would have been a 4-5 star experience but for the fact that we were seated directly under a a/c vent and it was very cold. We were told nothing could be done.
Absolutely special summer evening outside.
Great food and fabulous service!
Father’s Day Lunch
The glass enclosed room I sent lovely, beautiful flowers and the service is excellent.
We, along with another couple, had lunch there because the wife of the other couple knew of it's fame in various movie settings, and wanted to experience it. Weather was nice, so we dined outdoors. Our server, Tyler, was friendly, polite and helpful with the menu. I had the "special", a soft shell crab burger, fries which was tasty. My wife had the Organic Scottish Salmon which was good, but the Lentils du puy could have been cooked a bit longer. The husband of the other couple had the Beer battered fish and chips which he described as light, crispy and good. Unfortunately, the wife of the other couple (one who wanted to eat here) had a disappointing Cobb Salad. The salad was mostly all lettuce, and it did not seem like it was Romaine as stated on the menu, rather it seemed like a plain leaf lettuce. It was also rather dry and she asked the waiter if she could have more dressing, which he brought. This only helped somewhat. She ended up leaving a good part of her salad uneaten. We all felt bad for her.
The other issue was that our meals were brought out prior to our beverages. I had ordered a beer and my wife had ordered a glass of wine. We were well into our meals before our beverages arrived.
While Tavern on the Green does provide a lovely setting/ambiance, we do not think the value received justifies the price. If Tavern on the Green is on your "bucket list", then by all means go, but go for the setting, not the food. This foursome will not be returning.
The aesthetics are amazing but the food is not as great as I had hoped. The beef was not very good at all.
Beautiful environment and lovely waitstaff and delicious food!!
It's a beautiful restaurant. We enjoyed the food, but it wasn't anything special. The service was a bit slow. They didn't refill my iced tea or check how things were once we received our food. I would go again, but maybe drinks and appetizers in the lovely bar area.
Great service awesome food
Tavern is a standard in NYC and any New Yorker knows about the Tavern. The place looks great after its renovation with plenty of outdoor seating. Even indoors, you have plenty of views of the outdoors which makes coming to Tavern in the fair weather months an ideal spot. Tavern can host just about any occasion from local bar to anniversaries and birthdays. The menu is varied and food is usually prepared well though like any restaurant have good and not so good days. Be wary of desserts which look great on menu but might disappoint when plate arrives.
I try to nab a lounge seating group in the bar area. There's more room and you can linger.
You can order food from either the restaurant or the bar menu. My niece got the salmon dinner
and I got the tavern burger.
If everyone is outside in the courtyard, then there won't be any waiter service, but the bartenders
are responsive and pleasant. They'll take your food order and quickly get you some wine to take
back to your sofa.
Service was excellent, no rush, rush, rush, paced for a terrific afternoon. Food was excellent, and one of our party has an allergy and the plate was modified with no hesitation. Having been to Tavern on the Green many times when younger, I see the current organization has matched and perhaps exceeded my memory.
We went for lunch while spending the day in Central Park. The setting was lovely, and it was a pleasant party of a wonderful afternoon. My daughter, age 10, was enamoured with the glass and chandlers, then a wedding party (or at least we assume it was a wedding) showed up for lunch. It only added to the ambiance. The food was good and the staff were attentive and helpful. I would return, if in New York again.
We were seated as soon we arrived and we were given the choice of sitting inside or outside. Fortunately it was a glorious day and so we choose to sit outside. There were 2 large parties and it was marginally quieter outside. The service however was second to none and the food delicious. I shared a flat bread starter followed by by beer battered fish and French fries. I had mentioned that I was there for a birthday celebration and I was given a cake with a birthday candle which was a nice touch. Very enjoyable, I would definitely return.
I had been to Tavern after the renovation and it was beautiful then, but the menu had some kinks. After revamping the menu I can honestly say the food was delicious as the interiors are gorgeous! The patio is so much fun on a nice day. What a great spot in the park and on the UWS.
Took aunt for her first time. Worst service ever! Didn’t get drinks we ordered, took three attempts to get salt/pepper, asking for check was harder than winning a Nobel prize. Horrible service.
The food did arrive fast and was delicious. However, the poor service is taking this off of my go-to spot for nyc out of town visitors!
Had a beautiful lunch outside although it is just as nice to sit insode the glass enclosed room overlooking Central Park. Service was very attentive and the food was delicious. We had the flatbread of the day and the seared tuna salad with mango and the duck confit salad. I highly recommend this restaurant for lunch, brunch or dinner.
