Our server was very friendly and checked up on us often.
The food was served warm and just right for eating. The Cobb salad was great. The wild mushrooms were to die for :-) well I really love mushrooms that's why. The crab was a little frozen though at least some of it not all. There was a little bit of fishy smell on the fish and chips which the lemon could not cover but otherwise the batter was good and the fish was firm so that was good.
This was a great place to end our trip to NYC. Food was good the service was top notch. Very bright and inviting and easy to have a conversation. Hamburger and the sliders we recommend and substitute the fries for the chips.
A wonderful evening overall! The cocktails and drinks were amazing and the atmosphere proved perfect!
WAY overpriced . . . This is an icon in NYC, but it's nothing like it was in the past. They got the rights to the name back, but not the glory of the old restaurant. The food but not $$ good. Portions are very small, and the value is just not there. There are hundreds of other iconic restaurants in NYC that deserve your business. I would only recommend LOG during the daytime, when at least you can see the park. At night, it's just an overpriced restaurant. Two adults and two kids (who ordered from the children's menu), one appetizer and two drinks came to nearly $300 after tip. Uh, no.
We came to Tavern at our Grandson’s request. He was visiting from Boston with his family. He had seen the restaurant in a recent movie. I was afraid we would find a touristy restaurant with bad food. But we were pleasantly surprised!! Our waitress was fabulous, making good suggestions and chatting with our grandkids. The food was excellent as were our drinks! We will return since we live in the neighborhood.
Beautiful decor and wonderfully delicious meal! I would got there again for our next special occasion.
Great area for a dinning experience. Service staff wasn't very attractive but it was tolerable
Beautiful atmosphere, delicious food & amazing service! We look forward to visiting again!
I went here with friends for the first time since it reopened. The ambience it was noted for is gone. It really looks like any other restaurant/bar which was disappointing. It was a cold day but the outside patio and overhead lighting display did look inviting for a nice summer evening. We had brunch and the food was good not great. We each had different dishes. I had the breakfast pizza with egg and bacon which was pretty tasty although, for my taste, the bacon could have been crisper. It was sort of undercooked. The Cesar salad was good but no where near the best I've had. The dressing is extremely light so it was a huge bowl of lettuce with not a lot of taste. Just ok. I didn't try the eggs benedict which my friend had but she didn't comment on it so that tells me it was just ok as she is a real foodie. So my review would be go because of its history and go especially in summer evening for the outside patio.
We were late for our reservation, but they were gracious to find us a spot on a busy Sunday afternoon! This place is iconic and the food was outstanding. Don’t miss out on the French toast; it’s almost like a bread pudding and to die for! We shared a few items and left feeling quite satisfied. It was actually one of the more affordable dining experiences we had in NYC. Can’t wait to return on a future trip.
Lovely brunch. Will definitely go back for dinner!
Amazing time, great service and environment! Did I mention celebrating a birthday there is best because they don’t skimp at all on the quality and portion of the cake they give for free!
Iconic New York experience and it could not have been better. Amazing food, beautiful venue, it is absolutely perfect!
The food was pretty good but overpriced for what it was. The dining room has been remodeled and has lost its classic feel. It is nice being in Central Park for that experience, but I would choose another place if you want excellent food or an upscale experience.
Once again reservations made 29 days in advance for the "Dining Room" meant nothing. The requested "Dress Code" is for "print only" and the restaurant appeared "closed" upon arrival. The table in the "Bar" (food prep) area was not adequate for a party of 5 adults , 4 children would have been crowded. I asked for a different table only to be told "nothing else is available". Image my surprise (after just being seated) when a party of 5 dressed in "T" shirts and ripped jeans walked by into the dining room to be seated at a nice large table. I wonder should that have been my table? The food was nice, as usual, but nothing special. The the service was lacking absent at times and poor to fair at best. Overall not a nice dinner experience especially for a Valentines weekend outing. Stop by for dinner on a "whim" dressed as you are and enjoy a fair meal.
Great food and service! Make reservations ahead of time though. Would go back!
The food was amazing! My mom had the branzino, dad had the lobster risotto, and I had braised beef. The ambiance was beautiful and for NYC the prices were affordable for the location and quality of food and ambiance. Can’t wait for it to warm up to go back 🥰
We had terrible service for an overpriced brunch. We waited nearly 20 minutes to be served only to have items missing from our order.
Wonderful brunch menu. Service was wonderful and food was delicious
Brought family from out of town and let them know before hand we were celebrating a birthday.. it would have been nice to know there was an extra $12 charge for the slice of bday cake they brought out to him .
Other than that ambiance is wonderful and food is really good .
Exceptional !!!! Wow we were in for a business trip and went to tavern for the first time since the new ownership. The interior is beautiful and much more open then it was before. The brunch was amazing from the start, fig salad was the star . We had the avocado Benedict and vegetable frittata both fantastic. The service was pleasant and attentive. I must say there was a great amount of attention to detail even though it was such a busy place. I marveled at the efficiency of the kitchen ( since it was open to view), the wait staff and the maitre de. They had people posted all over overseeing the movement of everyone and it showed with such proficiency that it looked like a giant dance.
Great food and ambiance, our server Lauren Wes excellent and funny. On time for our reservation time and request of window seating was fulfilled.
It was very nice for lunch! Great food!!
The place is iconic. Bar area was nice!
What a great setting! In Central Park, great ambience inside, excellent service, good food. One of the best spots to enjoy a lazy afternoon for lunch or brunch.
Excellent service amazing food and ambiance.
Too beautiful a place to have terrible ambiance and terrible service. Food was mediocre. Tables are wayyyyyyyy too close together to enjoy your meal! Definitely not worth the trip. There are many other restaurants to enjoy in the city!
Getting a table was easy because of this app. They have a lot of tables available on a Friday night. The food was really amazing—loved everything we had!
Bar staff can’t see you anyone over 40🤷♀️
Wait staff in restaurant were lovely 😊
Lovely end to a walk around the park
The location is unique, the ambiance very nice, and the food and service was great. We try and dine at TOTG every time we visit New York City.
I took my daughter for her birthday and it was fantastic!! Great service, food, and beautiful. We walked around Central Park first and then enjoyed our meal!!!
Wonderful and relaxing! Will be back next time we are in N Y
We went for Valentine's Day dinner and left really disappointing. The set menu was quite pricey, which is expected for a holiday, but the food was mediocre at best. Each dish was underwhelming. I had the filet main course, which was served with dry, hard potato gratin. I barely touched it. Totally not worth the money.
Pretty good, but even for an expensive place it still way too overpriced for the quality of food. Perhaps go once for the ambience.
Longtime UWS resident, figured I'd go to Tavern with my wife for V-day. Yes, $150pp prix fixe is a bit eye-watering, but it's Valentine's day, kinda to be expected, so we decided to splurge. I had no problem with the price, only the value for it.
Long story short, while they had a nice jazz band playing there, and it's always a classy setting, the service was poor, the food mediocre (except the scallops), which made the price really sting. We were sat and I think it was 10 minutes before we saw anyone - to even get water, nevermind take a drink or food order. Our server was nice, but I think they were understaffed, which on a night with $150pp menus seems inexcusable by management.
Place is beautiful, staff very professional and friendly. The food this time was average - I had the chicken cobb salad that was disappointing for the price. Wine was wonderful!
Beautiful restaurant and great food! Definitely recommend!!
Lovely bright restaurant in a wonderful setting.Warm friendly service and delicious food.
