Poor experience in general.
Incredible food, great service, amazing environment
Beautiful outdoor patio seating. Our server was very pleasant and quick to answer our questions.
Had brunch. Good atmosphere and food. Great service
Het eten was heerlijk! De ligging van het restaurant is natuurlijk super omdat je naast Central Park zit. De bediening was echter niet geweldig. De ober liep vaak al weg zonder op antwoord te wachten en leek zich erg te ergere aan alles. Jammer!
Perfect day, we were able to eat outside! The service, ambience and food were all excellent. We will return on our next visit to New York.
My wife wanted to take me to the Tavern on the Green. She was there 40 years ago. It was beautiful the food was outstanding with great service. Our waitress was so pleasant and friendly. I would rate the whole experience a 5 star plus!!!
We went there to celebrate a college graduation and they were thoughtful enough to bring us a complimentary dessert for all of us to enjoy.
A very special place, superbly prepared food and exquisite service
A very limited menu
Not a lot of choices.
Had flat bread which was terrible.
My husband was not trilled with his fish and chips. My daughter didnot like the burger
Shared it was a Uni graduation. Graduate was even wearing robe and brochures all over table from NYU - no acknowledgement no congrats no free dessert or anything. Just run of the mill billion dollar diner experience. Some entrees and some desserts were huge and others skimpy - some symmetry in portion sizes would be a helpful gauge.
Lobster roll was excellent! Beautiful day by the Park.
We went to Tavern on the Green for our anniversary and we have no regrets. Ben our waiter was kind, patient and attentive making our celebration very special. Thank you.
As a seasoned NYC veteran in dining out.. I had high expectations for this restaurant. THE GOOD- the ambiance was beautiful, especially dining outside was a breath of fresh air. The food was MEH... nothing special or tasty... THE BAD- Dining outside you will see MICE! I saw two scurrying around. We moved our table once because the furry thing was 15ft from us. When the evening was winding down they move in!
I don’t know if I will ever go back. There so many more restaurants that are better. Just saying.
The food was awesome, however the service was not great. It was very rushed. Our appetizer arrived before our wine was served. This was our second visit, our first was outstanding, this time was disappointing.
We asked for a dairy free plate for a person, because she is allergic to any kind of dairy. Two people explicitly said it, and then the waiter brought a plate with butter inside, waiting other 15 minutes for the right plate. And they wanted 70$ tip for this kind of service.
Oh man what a great experience we had here! The food was amazing ... oysters, shrimp cocktail, lobster risotto and the Scottish salmon. The service was great too (thank you Francine!). Can’t wait to go back.
The food was delicious, our server was also spectacular. We were there to celebrate my girlfriends’ birthday however we had an uncomfortable situation arise. One of the bus boys made a comment about closing the umbrella and we asked him to wait until we finished but he proceeded to close the umbrella over our table anyway. He did not however close the umbrellas over other parties that were also having a late lunch. We felt singled out and insulted. He was very rude and had a sarcastic tone. Our waiter got the manager and he reopened the umbrella so we could finish our lunch but it ruined my girlfriends birthday lunch. This was not our first time dining here but never had been treated so rudely at a restaurant before.
Service is whatever . Ambience was nice and welcoming but being served burnt toast with your meal.... ruined everything . I will never recommend this place . That was not an mistake . The toast is served on top of the meal .
Either the kitchen or the server could of spotted that . Even my 4 year old daughter even knew it was burnt by looking at it .
Won’t be back and will not recommend at all
Graduations!!! Extraordinary service as always!! We LOVE IT!! Thanks soooo much for being so wonderful always!! ❤️🎓
We were there to celebrate my daughter’s 20th birthday. Food was good, service was ok. Our waiter kept forgetting little things such as sugar for my, coffee, the little forks and plates for our oysters, cleaning our table before dessert. Overall a good experience. I’d definitely come back. Just know this is a busy place. Reservations are recommend. Service will just be ok.
The only negative component of our dining experience was food wait times. It promoted our waitress to admit at end of evening “think our kitchen crashed tonight”. Overall though we had a nice dining experience at Tavern on the Green.
A friend suggested we meet there. I was reluctant. Was happy we did. Food was fine and what was not (lukewarm decaf coffee) was quickly remedied. Outside seating in the evening delightful. Wonderful treat of live band and singer. Quite magical.
The appetizers were very good (shrimp, roasted figs and carb cake)
Unfortunately, the lobster risotto was much too dry, felt like I was eating rice and lobster. Not creamy at all.
The salmon was excellent and the roasted chicken tasted good but was on the dry side or didn’t have enough sauce.
Awesome! One of the best dining experience in a past decade!
We thorough enjoyed our dinner at The Tavern on the Green! The food was excellent, and our server, Allison was absolutely delightful. She was attentive without hovering, and seemed to be truly interested in us. We all fell naturally into a good natured banter. I especially enjoyed the crab cake appetizer and the red snapper entree. Having heard and read about The Tavern on the Green for many years, it did not disappoint.
Great place and great experience. It was very sunny and some of the outside seats were just full sweaty sun. The live music playing made up for some of the heat.
The burger was probably the best burger I've ever had...for real. However, the chicken caesar was incredibly bland and just not very good. Its not a place for regular people to go all the time but it was fun for a birthday visit.
The sunroom we were seated in was a bit too sunny and warm, otherwise; food and service were wonderful.
Good but also disappointing considering prices and reputation as a high end establishment. Brunch options were varied and interesting. The Roasted Fig and Goat cheese with arugula was disappointing - 3 tiny figs that if roasted were barely so, the vegetable frittata was ample serving but very lacking in flavor and took sometime before we could get our server's attention to bring salt/pepper. We were heading for an umbrella table outdoors when the hostess discovered it was already taken and her colleague was told "Put them at 107". Service was sorely lacking...my sister said she'd have a Bellini after her coffee and it was never brought . Upon clearing our dishes he picked up the 2 closest to him and from the other 2 of us beckoned us with hand gestures to hand them over to him without saying a word - no please or thank you. I've never had that happen at the least expensive of restaurants. The brunch ambiance was not what I expected...diners in spandex style work out clothes but must have been my mistake to think there was any formal or informally understood dress code. Overall we still did enjoy our time there, we did not feel rushed despite it being very busy and other than the frittata the meals were delicious and much larger than expected portion sizes. I would go back with the hope that the negatives were the exception not the rule.
M’y son and his girlfriend were in town and it was a beautiful day to sit outside in the garden
Amazing food, great value
We lucked out getting reservations on the most beautiful Sunday morning in a long time. We sat outside on the patio and were greeted warmly by our server. We ordered just a bowl of fresh fruit, smoked applewood bacon and basket of pastries. The fruit was perfectly ripe strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and strawberries. The best I’ve had in a very long time. The bacon was thick and delicious. The pastries were soft croissants, a chocolate chip scone, a blueberry scone with blueberry jam, banana bread and a muffin. All extremely fresh. We just had iced coffee and it was better than our drive-thru favorite. Our server was perfect other than having to ask twice for Splenda. I would go there weekly if we lived in the city.
Great atmosphere, service and food. Would recommend to any NYC visitors. Method used by hosts to find waiting diners could use some refinement
Great vet I’ve and very nice restaurant. Very pricey. But we ate well. And it was our anniversary so we splurged a bit.
Just Wow! Perfect place to spend the day throwing back Oysters and Champagne. We had the Sea food tower and a nice bottle of Rosé. The service is great and the live music is wonderful!
Thank you XOXO
It is a very nice restaurant in the big park. We booked a table for dinner. The meat was nice. We had live music in the evening. The service was excellent.
