Tavern on Rush Ratings and Reviews
We popped in for a shopping break to have some champagne and a quick bite. We were seated immediately. We told the server we were on a bit of a time crunch and she got us fed and out the door without making us feel rushed. The food was very good.
We usually love Tavern on Rush but our recent visit wasn’t so good. We were celebrating 4 birthdays with two families - 3 of our kids turned 21 so this was a special dinner.
The good- crab cake appetizer was amazing, calamari was very good. Waiter recommended we change the quantity of each appetizer and he was right. We brought a large magnum of our favorite wine from home and they kindly served it for a reasonable cork fee. Some entrees were very good- the filet was nicely done. Sides such as Brussel sprouts with bacon, mashed potatoes and fries were all delicious. Our waiter brought a beautiful birthday tray with three desserts on the house. Thank you - it closed the night very positively.
Not so good- we were a party of 8 stuffed next a order taking credenza for waiters. It was a tight squeeze and we pulled table away a few inches so it was a bit better. Our waiter was overwhelmed when we sat down and not very friendly. He did warm up as his other tables finished and was very nice. We had to ask for specials and asked twice for a napkin. To the entrees- my husband had the bone in ribeye which I shared. Ordered medium but it was more medium rare, really fatty ( I accept a certain amount of fat in this cut but this was beyond expectations )and not seasoned well. Just okay. NY strip steaks were fine but not top notch. They typically do so much better.
Overall, I’d return as we’ve had excellent meals and waiters in the past. Chalk this up to a bad Thursday night for the restaurant and hopefully an anomaly.
I walk by this place all summer and everyone eating outside looks like they are enjoying it immensely. We decided to try brunch and were not disappointed. It isn't over the top, but the menu is also not simple. The food was good, the bloody mary's were very good and the service was great. It happened to be a quite Saturday and we beat the crowd in which actually was nice.
We booked our reservation for Santa brunch a month in advance. When we arrived 5 minutes early for our 11:15 reservation the hostess told us she didn't have a reservation for us. I told her that's strange since I have an open table confirmation and that indeed the restaurant called me at 2pm the day before to confirm our reservation. It took me about ten minutes to log online and show them the confirmation to which then they immediately found our reservation and then they told us someone else was seated somehow for our reservation and that they couldn't give us a table because they were completely backed up. What a Joke... We brought our 3 year old daughter telling her she's coming to this event with Santa. So they offered us a hightop table at the bar... what a friggin joke. Seriously you called us the day before to confirm and gave our reservation away with no recourse for us. PATHETIC . Ive come to Tavern since they opened but Ill never go again.
I came to Tavern on rush Dec 9th to celebrate my b day with friends and can I say everything was soooo good... This was our first experience here and the food , hospitality, ambiance was star stud A1. I definitely will be returning to check out ladies night(Monday) as well all the wonderful food dishes and Drinks specials again
Jason Siegel was our waiter and he was amazing! I always specifically request him because he is always so attentive and remembers everything. He makes you feel like family. Benny is a top notch Maitre’D. He is always so welcoming. We always go here when we are in town. Oh and the food, as always, was fantastic!
I made a reservation in advance, wanted to visit this popular place, but right after my dinner (oysters, tuna and a glass of wine), I poisoned myself with oysters, tore and fainted, I am grateful to God that I'm alive. Never in my life I will return to your restaurant. Enjoy your Canadian oysters!
