Birthday party for my brother! Thank you Benny for the great service and hospitality!
Tavern on Rush, altho' in a touristy area, is our go to restaurant. Many people go back again and again. The menu is varied and the food is always good, with interesting specials.Benny, the manager is always warm and happy to see you and make you welcome. Our favorite server, Mike, is the perfect waiter--there when you need him but not on top of you and he always gets it right. It can get a little noisy because it's good for groups. People we've taken there always love and everyone can find something they like on the menu.
It was not our waitress' fault, she was great. HOWEVER - The experience was not good. There were shells in the Lobster Bisque. The eggs for our Eggs Benedict were hardly runny (which anyone who eats Eggs Benny will tell you is definitely a key component), and the busser made it clear that he couldn't care less about our dining experience and took forever to bring us refilled jugs of water - correct, he didn't even need to fill individual glasses but it took us asking multiple times throughout the meal.
Lastly, the chips in my friend's Chilaquiles & Eggs were stale and the amount of chips to other ingredients provided was laughable - it was basically a plate of stale chips with a few things sprinkled on top.
It’s a nice place. Nothing special. Nice. Service was fabulous, although felt a little rushed.
Great food but the staff was exceptional!
We live in the neighborhood and love Tavern. Food, service and setting were all outstanding. Manager Benny was extremely accommodating of our group which included my 3-month old granddaughter. Can’t wait to go back.
We had a great lunch and a great time. Food and service were fabulous. Vanessa was a fabulous waitress!!
Nice restaurant with good food
Fairly upscale, but with some reasonably priced options. I wasn't super hungry, so can't comment on the pricier options like steak or seafood, but the pizza and pasta was delicious and plentiful. With plenty to take home, I still left room for some dessert and Tavern on Rush didn't disappoint! The simple chocolate fudge brownie with ice cream was perfect for 2 to share and absolutely delicious. :)
I don't like how they make you wait for an outside table, even if you have a reservation. Aside from that, it was a great dining experience.
Went for my birthday and it was a great time. I really wanted salmon but I am kinda picky so I ended up with the KANSAS steak. It was good but a bit too pricey and not worth the cost. Other than that, great service from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. Would go back for drinks though!
Was really excited to dine here since it's always busy when I walk by. The food was very average, and the service was terrible - it took 20 minutes to get a coffee, and another 10 to bring cream and sugar for it. Will not be back.
After 20+ years in Chicago finally went to the Tavern for dinner. I would not rush back. We both had steak, and it was good, but there's better in Chicago. It was expensive for what it was - an average steak. I think the Tavern relies on its "hot spot" reputation to fill the dining room.
Overall very pleased with our visit. Excellent food & service. Will return soon!!!!
Always a great time at Tavern ♥️
Everyone was super friendly, the ambience was festive, and the food was excellent
We made 9:00pm dinner reservations. After arriving promptly at 9:00pm, we were told by hostess that it would 2-3 minutes until our table was ready. We were left standing there for 10 minutes while the hostess went elsewhere. We were taken upstairs to a table. It felt as the air conditioning was not working, and too hot to eat. We had to ask for ice for our drinks because they were warm. Our server took our initial drink order and meal order, and then never returned. He never once asked us if we’d like another cocktail, etc. Yet he had no issue getting our bill to us quickly. Upon leaving, there was 15-20 degree difference in cool air. We asked hostess if air was working upstairs and she soandit was a hot day. We hope that we caught this restaurant on a bad day.
We sat inside under the air conditioning, so I️t was a bit cold. The service was amazing and the waiter was friendly and kind. Great food and overall great experience! Highly recommend
Best steak I've ever had in my life! 🥩 Seriously. Like butter! Staff was great. Our server was funny and attentive but not hovering. Can't wait to go back again.
Some of food was cold. Condiments didn’t come with food; requested, but waited longer than should have and eventually asked again.
The wait staff was attentive and professional, steaks amazing, ambience great for a special evening out.
Eric was excellent
Hostess was VERY RUDE. We were not greeted politely with even a smile when we checked in. I came in a party of four, yet she only brought us two menus. Also, the table she walked us to was meant to seat four people, but had only two chairs. It was, however, a beautiful day to sit outside. Our waitress was friendly and our food was fine. Our experience with the hostess did, unfortunately, ruin our meal.
Great experience! Second time to dine there and will the next time we are in Chicago.
Server PJ was fantastic! He answered any and all questions perfect, very attentive and made our night great
Always amazing and did not disappoint this time either! Ate in the bar; had bloody Mary’s and great food.
STEAKS TOO WELL DONE. asked FOR PINK AND NO PINK AT ALL.
if WE HAD MORE TIME WOULD HAVE SENT THEM BACK.
Loved sitting outside on Rush. Excellent from start to finish. :)
The restaurant was nice but the food was disappointing. Unfortunately the angus sliders were very tough and overcooked. Our water glasses were never re-filled until the waitress came by at the end of our meal, and even then we had to ask for more water.
This was our first time, we came for lunch because we liked the location however we didn’t have many expectations thinking it was more of a trendy place... to our surprise food was very good! We had oysters Rockefeller, tuna tartare, crab leg bites and crab cake Benedicts, everything was delicious! We will be back!
I've been a frequent client of this establishment. That being said this dinner experience was atrocious. I've taken clients and had dates here but Saturday's transgressions were ridiculous. We were on time but waited 20 minutes. That's fine these happen. But the service and food was below reproach. The waiter didnt even bother to ask if the food was to our standards until we were just talking and enjoying each other company. Another server did however come and bag the almost full meal. We decided to bless the homeless man a meal that night. I guess that was worth the brownie points. Hate to say it but I might have to retire Tavern on Rush. Pity
Great food and wonderful service. Thank you!
The food and service were fantastic as well the the ambiance but the air conditioning was cutting it, we were sweating and so hot I changed what I was planning on ordering to a salmon salad because it was so hot in the upstairs level where our table was.
Everything was great as always. It was a very hot day in Chicago, the restaurant AC could not keep up. It was a bit uncomfortable inside the restaurant upstairs
Great find for a small group in town for the first time. We were looking for spectacular food off the main tourist scene and we were not disappointed. Our waiters were a blast, you could almost taste the food by the way Jason articulated the culinarily delight we were about to experience. The service was 1st class all evening and even though we had hoped for a street side table we needed to plan further ahead for that extra treat. An easy 5 stars!
I love the location of this restaurant, just the food is not extraordinary but still I go there often because I really like the ambiance. Another plus is the valet parking and I just love the outside sitting during summer.
What a great place. Fantastic food and service. Great views from inside and outside eating!
I once asked a cocktail waitress here how tall she was - she was very tall- wow did that put her off!
I almost did not return, but I’m really glad I did. A very solid experience overall. The bar hostess was a little snooty about me not knowing I need to go inside to see the inside hostess for for my reservation. Aside from that, food, service, drink were all excellent. Descent values on the wine list.
Definitely would go back
Delicious food! Wonderful service! And, surprisingly, some of the best pizza I’ve had in ages. Been here three times and will definitely keep coming back:)
