Tavern on Rush Ratings and Reviews
My steak was actually cold. When we mentioned this the waiter offered to reheat it. This was a charred and rare ribeye, you don't do that. The sides were hot, the Creme Brulee was awful, When the bill came he did not charge of for the dessert. He should have given us a new steak. Will not return, Gibson's on the corner is the BEST>
I can’t comment on the steaks at Tavern in Rush but the cheeseburger was very good. Two of us in the party got pasta, which was not very good. Beef ragu was over cooked as was the pasta. Great service though and my wife loved her fish. May go back for a burger or a steak.
We came out for girls night out and had the restaurant week menu. The filet mignon was excellent. I asked for it medium and it was cooked just right--so tender and it melted right in my mouth. The crab cake was moist and so flavorful. The reason why I did not give it a 5 star was the apple pie a la mode was a little spongy and dry. The ice cream was good but the pie was not.
Brought of few friends from in town and from out of town there .. typically very good. Service was excellent but although I hadn’t planned to order from the Restaurant Week menu, the deal was too good to pass. I wish I had ordered from the main menu. Very mediocre! Steak was blah and the spinach with possibly potato (questionable) concoction I never need to have again.
We usually love Tavern on Rush but our recent visit wasn’t so good. We were celebrating 4 birthdays with two families - 3 of our kids turned 21 so this was a special dinner.
The good- crab cake appetizer was amazing, calamari was very good. Waiter recommended we change the quantity of each appetizer and he was right. We brought a large magnum of our favorite wine from home and they kindly served it for a reasonable cork fee. Some entrees were very good- the filet was nicely done. Sides such as Brussel sprouts with bacon, mashed potatoes and fries were all delicious. Our waiter brought a beautiful birthday tray with three desserts on the house. Thank you - it closed the night very positively.
Not so good- we were a party of 8 stuffed next a order taking credenza for waiters. It was a tight squeeze and we pulled table away a few inches so it was a bit better. Our waiter was overwhelmed when we sat down and not very friendly. He did warm up as his other tables finished and was very nice. We had to ask for specials and asked twice for a napkin. To the entrees- my husband had the bone in ribeye which I shared. Ordered medium but it was more medium rare, really fatty ( I accept a certain amount of fat in this cut but this was beyond expectations )and not seasoned well. Just okay. NY strip steaks were fine but not top notch. They typically do so much better.
Overall, I’d return as we’ve had excellent meals and waiters in the past. Chalk this up to a bad Thursday night for the restaurant and hopefully an anomaly.
I walk by this place all summer and everyone eating outside looks like they are enjoying it immensely. We decided to try brunch and were not disappointed. It isn't over the top, but the menu is also not simple. The food was good, the bloody mary's were very good and the service was great. It happened to be a quite Saturday and we beat the crowd in which actually was nice.
