Tavern on Rush Ratings and Reviews
My spouse and I met our son and his friend in Chicago and I picked Tavern on Rush in advance due to wonderful past experiences there. Great food, ambiance and service. Helpful when we had to change the reservation to an earlier time. Eric was a wonderful server . . . fun, energetic, helpful and practical.
Do not go here if you are vegan or vegetarian. The veggie burger was the worst thing I have tasted at a restaurant in a long long time. It was very dry and tasted like stale peanut butter. The meat eaters seemed much happier with their food; ribs and burgers. The location on Rush St was great.
Our dinner was probably my 8th time dining at Tavern on Rush. For several business meals, & the rest dining with friends & family, we have always had great service & great food. We live out of state, but are always welcomed as if we were 'regular' customers. I would highly recommend dining at the great Chicago establishment!
Horrible service, took 45 minutes to be seated with a reservation. We had to wait in the overcrowded lounge downstairs and then when we walked out the door to go to a restaurant next door that could seat us right away the host followed us out to the sidewalk and told us our table was ready. When we got upstairs we noticed that there were numerous empty 4 top tables that nobody was seated at for the remainder of our dinner. I have loved the restaurant on other occasions that i have been there, but this experience will probably make it so that i do not come back.
Did not seat us until 30 minutes past reservation after we have seats up at bar 20 minutes earlier after being told “you are being seated next.” Then was seated outside where it is first come first serve and where we could have sat 30 minutes earlier. Waitress was inattentive and no one apologized, bought us drinks or seemed to care about our inconvenience.
We enjoy Tavern on Rush. The food is delicious, the portions are plenty, the ambiance and buzz of Rush Street, valet parking option, all make for a great dining experience in the mag mile area. We are always looking for great brunch food and this is one of our favs! Our server was overly nice, but that's a good thing!
