Tavern on Kruse
This was a truly horrible experience. I brought 7 people to a dinner here, arriving at 5:15 on a Wednesday night. One person had to leave by 6:30, so when the waiter arrived to take drink orders I politely asked him to take meal orders as well. He grumpily and steadfastly refused to do so. It took him over 20 MINUTES to get the drinks to our table, and then he finally slowly took orders. There was an outdated menu at our table, and--being a vegetarian--I asked if I could order the type of ravioli (onion/chevre) on the old menu instead of the new menu (butternut squash)--he then brusquely replied with a scowl--ABSOLUTELY NOT! The meals were not served until 6:20 (!!), forcing the member of my marty who had to leave early to gulp down her meal before leaving. I ordered mac-and-cheese instead, and it was bland and tasteless. When the bill came, another member of my party paid it, and the truly awful waiter explained to her--not me (who by that time was very angry)--that he had been handling happy hour as well as our table. That does NOT justify the rudeness and the refusal to take meal orders right away. I will never be returning to this restaurant ever again!
I have food allergies so dining out can be difficult but there are options for me and the staff is super helpful and no attitude. Thanks for a terrific meal
Birthday celebration. Loud , busy & slow service. Waiter was friendly but over worked. After had a cocktail in bar and it took forever to get service. This was on a TUESDAY 4-8pm
The restaurant ceased to offer my favorite vegetarian entree option--the Wild Mushroom Chevre ravioli--and instead replaced it with the far less desirable squash ravioli....
The food was great. Our waitress we nice and attentive.
Food was very good. The best crab and artichoke dip I've had anywhere. Great garlic rosemary fries. Service was very good.
Only complaint - there were six of us and the server did not tell me that the gratuity was already added - that would have been helpful. I added another 20% on top
Great food but they were out of several items which was a tad difficult with our group of seven but we made do. It’s always a bit loud in there and cold. Service is very good.
This was my first time at Tavern on Kruse, and I brought with me an entire search committee evaluating a candidate for a permanent position at our institution. We were under a severe time crunch. I was truly amazed at the quality and speed of the service, and the food was absolutely fantastic!!!!
We are coming back as a group two more times with two other candidates for the open position, and I cannot wait!!!! I had the wild mushroom chevre ravioli and will certainly order it again!
We loved the Greg Goebel Trio ... ! The service and food was good.. please bring back onion rings!
Consistently excellent food and service.
Always great food and excellent service!
I had not visited Tavern on Kruse for some time. I was surprised to find that my party was seated in a curtained area with approximately six tables that is entirely separated from the remaining 80 percent of the restaurant. Why the owners think anyone wants to sit in a cloth box is beyond me, but I found the arrangement to be very uncomfortable.
My Cuban sandwich was very large and very messy, so I had to eat it with a fork and knife. Otherwise it was tasty, if a bit bread forward. I was not offered a refill on my fountain drink until the very end of the meal. Perhaps service suffered because we were seated in the curtained box?
Visiting from NY and we Enjoyed an amazing brunch. The cinnamon bun was ridiculous. I loved the roasted potatoes with my omelette.
Always enjoy this place for breakfast. I seem to always order the frittata and especially love the potatoes that come with it. It is nice to have a local breakfast option that has good food and atmosphere without the long wait. Highly recommend.
Wonderful server, two great seafood dishes well prepared and fresh fish!
Best breakfast ever!!! Many unique and amazing items to choose from. Delicious and very reasonably priced. Use opentable to make a reservation and avoid typical Sunday Brunch lines.
Loved the fresh, local, innovative menu. Great staff and beautiful environment.
Great meeting place with a beautiful patio.
Loved their brunch menu and has really attentive and friendly service.
Such a great spot for brunch with a diverse selection of items on the menu. Don’t miss out on the crispy roasted potatoes!
The appetizing menu never disappoints with the delicious local-sourced selections! We went on Jazz-dinner night with a fabulous jazz instrumental band playing while we ate, so we had a terrific sound accompaniment to our lovely meal. The pork chop was awesome and the peach-and-cheese starter was creative and delicious!
With 100+/- people sitting down at once for the jazz show that night, service was (and always is on show nights) slow rather than standard. Our jazz fans previously sat to a card on their table that said, "Rather than compromise our standards to feed all of you at the same time quickly, we'd like to encourage you to pace your meal in courses over the couple hours you're enjoying the music - but if you're in a hurry, please let us know." We failed to utilize that card that night and I'm sorry.
Food and service were terrible. Would not recommend.
Drinks and mango salad was great. Fried chicken was amazing. Fish and chips were ok. Service was impeccable and the live jazz was phenomenal.
We had a nice evening. Kerri sp? gave us excellent service. You had a special event going on which was probably why you were out of a few things and the noise level at first was high. Steelhead was excellent.
The happy hour menu here is great and has lots of delicious choices. A great place to hang out!
The chef made a mistake and started all of the meals without realizing the fish course was out of stock. After determining a replacement, they they then served everyone, and it took another 20 minutes before the replacement dish was served. (We were about done with all of our meals.) They gave us $5 off the meal to compensate for the delay. Hmmm. You ruin the entire dining experience and think $5 will suffice? The entire experience was unprofessional. Couldn’t imagine every returning.
Fantastic. Live Jazz, great food, great wine. Not too expensive either.
First time for us dining at this place. Outdoor patio area was great but need more pillows for propping. Service and food were great. Extra treat was the jazz band playing that evening. We will be back to try more of the menu
This visit was not as good as previous visits. Had the scallops and the seasoning was not my favorite. The lobster was overpowered by the Yukon gold potatoes. Took server a long time to remove dishes after we finished. Also my nieces and & cheese was cold in the middle. Previous visits were much better.
Only 3 or 4 tables were occupied inside but they "forgot" us and we had to go and ask someone to take our order. I have celiac disease (No gluten/no cross contamination) and there was a deep fat fried (cross contaminated) item on my plate. We'd asked the server if my menu choice was gluten free.
We enjoyed a nice meal and good conversation. It was a nice place to go as a group of girlfriends.
Good atmosphere with friendly customer service. Too hot for outdoor seating but will definitly consider when the weather is cooler.
Service was flawless! Had the smoked Salem crab cakes and was that ever a great choice!!! Wonderful presentation and flavor! Definitely a new favorite!
Can't go wrong with the food here, something for everyone but you really should be getting the lamb/duck burger. The only possible improvement that could be made is to the noise level
Really creative and delicious food. Server was super friendly. Loved the indoor/outdoor vibe. Portions weren't gigantic, but reasonable.
Always love TOK and the outdoor dining can't be beat!
My friends and I have never been to Tavern on Kruse and were disappointed when they refused us the opportunity to order off the Happy Hour menu. We were celebrating my friends birthday. We asked the waitress nicely if we could order off the HH menu and she said No due to us making reservations. No happy hour for reservations. We asked for the manager. A very rude manager proceeded to discuss with us his financial woes and how they do not make any money from the happy hour menu. He even accused my friend of lying about the unadvertised "policy" in regards to making a reservation on Open Table.
It was a Friday night and it was not BUSY so there is a reason for no one being there. I have never ever felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. We even explained it was our first time there so we were not aware of their policy. Still rude to us! Then the manager comes back and apologizes and he noticed on the website that the "policy" of no happy hour with a reservation was removed from the website. Needless to say - none of us will be returning.
Service was slow. My food was tasteless. Others in our party said theirs was fine but not memorable
Sat outside. Except for many children biking and running on the side of the patio, it was delightful
