Tavern on Kruse
Only 3 or 4 tables were occupied inside but they "forgot" us and we had to go and ask someone to take our order. I have celiac disease (No gluten/no cross contamination) and there was a deep fat fried (cross contaminated) item on my plate. We'd asked the server if my menu choice was gluten free.
We enjoyed a nice meal and good conversation. It was a nice place to go as a group of girlfriends.
Good atmosphere with friendly customer service. Too hot for outdoor seating but will definitly consider when the weather is cooler.
Service was flawless! Had the smoked Salem crab cakes and was that ever a great choice!!! Wonderful presentation and flavor! Definitely a new favorite!
Can't go wrong with the food here, something for everyone but you really should be getting the lamb/duck burger. The only possible improvement that could be made is to the noise level
Really creative and delicious food. Server was super friendly. Loved the indoor/outdoor vibe. Portions weren't gigantic, but reasonable.
Always love TOK and the outdoor dining can't be beat!
My friends and I have never been to Tavern on Kruse and were disappointed when they refused us the opportunity to order off the Happy Hour menu. We were celebrating my friends birthday. We asked the waitress nicely if we could order off the HH menu and she said No due to us making reservations. No happy hour for reservations. We asked for the manager. A very rude manager proceeded to discuss with us his financial woes and how they do not make any money from the happy hour menu. He even accused my friend of lying about the unadvertised "policy" in regards to making a reservation on Open Table.
It was a Friday night and it was not BUSY so there is a reason for no one being there. I have never ever felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. We even explained it was our first time there so we were not aware of their policy. Still rude to us! Then the manager comes back and apologizes and he noticed on the website that the "policy" of no happy hour with a reservation was removed from the website. Needless to say - none of us will be returning.
Service was slow. My food was tasteless. Others in our party said theirs was fine but not memorable
Sat outside. Except for many children biking and running on the side of the patio, it was delightful
We had a wonderful evening with great friends. Food was delicious and the service was great. We hadn’t seen each other in a while and our waitress gave us time to catch up without making us feel hurried to place our order or to finish up. She was awesome. We sat outside and enjoyed a lovely evening.
Service was great and food excellent!
We go to tavern on kruse alot! Usually for happy hour though. Out of the 3 or so times we've gone for dinner, twice it hasn't been very good. We invited 4 friends with us this time and most people were disappointed with their meal. The steak was not good at all and the asparagus had hardly any flavor and was way overcooked to where is was almost shriveled. Wasn't a good dining experience last time. Hopefully it will get better. They need to bring back their halibut entree and butternut squash raviolis. Those meals were amazing!
Amazing as usual! Sometimes I wish it weren’t so good so we would be forced to try some other places lol
Food was so yummy. We sat outside and there was a jazzy band which added to the ambiance. We did have to ask for our server so we could order more drinks, but I didn’t mind as much as my family did that our drinks were empty for awhile. It was a great dinner, I ordered scallops and it was perfect and I tried my husband mushroom ravioli and it was fantastic too. Strawberry mojito 👍🏼
I had a great birthday dinner here. Our server, Andy, was great - offering information on wines. The food was good - as always. This is a wonderful place - really comfortable surroundings, a bit loud due to the hard surfaces, but on the warmer days with the doors open, it's not a problem. I really like this place!
Excellent service. Loud space, difficult to carry on private conversation. Salad with protein.
Very loud inside. High ceilings made for bad acoustics and hard to talk with the others at our table. Food snd service was very good. Next time I would opt for a warm evening and dine outside
Nice unusual decor, wall panels open in summer making inside sitting almost like outside (in a good sense). Food and service were good.
The food was great, but the service was slow. We had alot of lag time between drink orders and recieipt of those drinks. We also were only visited by our wait staff once during a 2 hour time frame to check on us or see if we wanted more drinks. We probably would have spent at least $50 more had we been asked more often if we wanted more drinks. The food was great but a bit overpriced. The ambiance is great and the drinks we did get were fantastic.
Food and beverages were excellent quality and you could tell the Chef put a lot of time into his dishes. Riedel stemless glassware for all the wine and for each wine we ordered it was served in the correct glass. Service however was mediocre and more an order taker experience in that server seemed to not know her menu well and her recommendations lacked any detail. Simple questions like what's your favorite dish was met with 4 different names of menu items however no substance like taste or texture. Overall though would definitely return, dishes somewhat pricey but we'll worth it!
Service was attentive. The food...was lacking seasoning.
Everything was excellent as usual with an added bonus of the restaurant being opened up because of the beautiful weather we had! We ate inside, but kind of felt like we were outdoors and it was actually very quiet! A very pleasant evening.
Server was very nice, knowledgeable; service was only a bit slow because I think they were understaffed (we did go on a Sunday evening). Food was a bit pricey, but well-prepared. Good wine list. Would definitely go back.
Delicious Brunch! We will definitely be back for dinner next time
Great food and service. Definitely will be back for both.
This Restaurant is great, always consistently good, Service, Food, atmosphere too, Love it and highly recommend it.
Food was tasty but was very small portion and overprice.
We all enjoyed the new menu. The steelhead was a favorite and the game hen. Next time in, I'll try the lamb shank. Service is always terrific, and I got to shake hands with Kent, the owner. Tavern is always nice when the weather is good and you can enjoy the open windows or sit outside.
Really great evening at Tavern on Kruse. Service was phenomenal and the food was delicious! We will absolutely be back again.
This was our first time to Tavern on Kruse. We both loved our meals and they were made from fresh local ingredients. We will definitely be back.
Good for meeting up after work or for happy hour
The service was pleasant but not expedient. Our table ordered two omelets, they were both very runny and undercooked but the toppings were tasty. The coffee cups are too small and not filled often enough for breakfast.
Great service, beautiful atmosphere & awesome food!
Moms 73rd Birthday
We have always loved this restaurant but this time the fish and chips had zero taste and the fish was dry and rubbery.
It was a Friday night and it was very loud.
Easter was amazing!!
Brunch was a huge disappointment-I'll own I misread the list of ingredients in the frittata and did not see it included morel mushrooms that I have a food sensitivity to. But as I picked them out, the eggs were so wet that the whole meal became a liquid mess on my plate. Our server offered to have it remade or replaced and remove it from the bill. I opted for just scrambled eggs instead- again it was super soft scrambled and the texture was unappetizing. Same with my daughter's eggs so both went uneaten. Her bacon was undercooked and my sons potatoes and sausage was over cooked. Still hungry but clearly not jiving with how the kitchen prepares their food, we decided to call it good and get the bill. The server apologized and said the kitchen refused to remove the (uneaten) frittata charge, and in addition, they charged me for the scrambled eggs they made to replace the meal. Brunch was $82 and no one finished their meal. Won't be back, which is too bad because we eat out a lot and like to support local businesses.
Service was impressive! Menu had many good options making it hard to choose. The Salad Nicoise with seared ahi was excellent and just the right portion. Despite a lot of concrete and hard surfaces, the noise level wasn’t obnoxious. The high top tables are mostly community tables, we sat at a “regular” dining table but I’d go back and sit in the bar as well. Not an intimate scene, but an impressive spot. Maybe it helps that we live in Sherwood, “land of few choices” when it comes to nice restaurants. A good date spot, for sure. There were kids there, but I wouldn’t bring them unless there was a good reason.
Thanks so much!!! We are happy you found someplace you enjoy close to home. Cheers
A good neighborhood tavern for dining.
Food is well prepared. Service is attentive when busy it is noisy.
