Tavern on Kruse
Food and beverages were excellent quality and you could tell the Chef put a lot of time into his dishes. Riedel stemless glassware for all the wine and for each wine we ordered it was served in the correct glass. Service however was mediocre and more an order taker experience in that server seemed to not know her menu well and her recommendations lacked any detail. Simple questions like what's your favorite dish was met with 4 different names of menu items however no substance like taste or texture. Overall though would definitely return, dishes somewhat pricey but we'll worth it!
Service was attentive. The food...was lacking seasoning.
Everything was excellent as usual with an added bonus of the restaurant being opened up because of the beautiful weather we had! We ate inside, but kind of felt like we were outdoors and it was actually very quiet! A very pleasant evening.
Server was very nice, knowledgeable; service was only a bit slow because I think they were understaffed (we did go on a Sunday evening). Food was a bit pricey, but well-prepared. Good wine list. Would definitely go back.
Delicious Brunch! We will definitely be back for dinner next time
Great food and service. Definitely will be back for both.
This Restaurant is great, always consistently good, Service, Food, atmosphere too, Love it and highly recommend it.
Food was tasty but was very small portion and overprice.
We all enjoyed the new menu. The steelhead was a favorite and the game hen. Next time in, I'll try the lamb shank. Service is always terrific, and I got to shake hands with Kent, the owner. Tavern is always nice when the weather is good and you can enjoy the open windows or sit outside.
Really great evening at Tavern on Kruse. Service was phenomenal and the food was delicious! We will absolutely be back again.
This was our first time to Tavern on Kruse. We both loved our meals and they were made from fresh local ingredients. We will definitely be back.
Good for meeting up after work or for happy hour
The service was pleasant but not expedient. Our table ordered two omelets, they were both very runny and undercooked but the toppings were tasty. The coffee cups are too small and not filled often enough for breakfast.
Great service, beautiful atmosphere & awesome food!
Moms 73rd Birthday
We have always loved this restaurant but this time the fish and chips had zero taste and the fish was dry and rubbery.
It was a Friday night and it was very loud.
Easter was amazing!!
Brunch was a huge disappointment-I'll own I misread the list of ingredients in the frittata and did not see it included morel mushrooms that I have a food sensitivity to. But as I picked them out, the eggs were so wet that the whole meal became a liquid mess on my plate. Our server offered to have it remade or replaced and remove it from the bill. I opted for just scrambled eggs instead- again it was super soft scrambled and the texture was unappetizing. Same with my daughter's eggs so both went uneaten. Her bacon was undercooked and my sons potatoes and sausage was over cooked. Still hungry but clearly not jiving with how the kitchen prepares their food, we decided to call it good and get the bill. The server apologized and said the kitchen refused to remove the (uneaten) frittata charge, and in addition, they charged me for the scrambled eggs they made to replace the meal. Brunch was $82 and no one finished their meal. Won't be back, which is too bad because we eat out a lot and like to support local businesses.
Service was impressive! Menu had many good options making it hard to choose. The Salad Nicoise with seared ahi was excellent and just the right portion. Despite a lot of concrete and hard surfaces, the noise level wasn’t obnoxious. The high top tables are mostly community tables, we sat at a “regular” dining table but I’d go back and sit in the bar as well. Not an intimate scene, but an impressive spot. Maybe it helps that we live in Sherwood, “land of few choices” when it comes to nice restaurants. A good date spot, for sure. There were kids there, but I wouldn’t bring them unless there was a good reason.
Thanks so much!!! We are happy you found someplace you enjoy close to home. Cheers
A good neighborhood tavern for dining.
Food is well prepared. Service is attentive when busy it is noisy.
Great food and wine selection. We always have a great time!
Not the most romantic, but perfect for grabbing a bite and getting caught up with a friend.
The Cobb salad has a runny poached egg on the top . I order Cobb salads a lot , and have never seen this I prob won’t go back , if I do I will not order that salad .
Who does that ? Strange . The eggs on Cobb salads are usually cut hard boiled eggs . My friend was grossed out too . She also ordered the salad .
Once, a "Poached Halibut" was sent back because "it was poached or something" and a "Black Honey Drizzled Fried Chicken" was returned because "there was something sticky sweet on it." Now, our (2nd most popular item) "Cobb Salad - with mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, bacon, avocado, smoked bleu cheese and poached egg," received a one-star review that will take 33 hard-working people several months to overcome because there was, shockingly, a poached egg on it. With power comes responsibility. K
I have had many lunches and a few happy hours at Tavern on Kruse, and they never disappoint. Food is delicious, service is impeccable, and venue is clean, neat, and very nice on sunny days. I would highly recommend giving them a try. Cheers
The food is scrumptious! We had a great time, however it felt like our server completely forgot about us. She was super nice but it took forever for everything. We’ve been here before and the bad service was a first....we’ll be back as Tavern on Kruse is usually amazing.
Great spot in an area that had always needed more solid dining choices. Nice tap and wine list. Confit poutine was good, though not very confit centric. A number of the party had fish and chips, which they liked. Nice!
As usual food was great and my guest enjoyed his first visit. Thanks
Service was great but the Fish and chips had a very bland flavor. The Steaks were small for the price.
Great brunch, friendly service, and comfortable setting. I love this restaurant.
The food and service were wonderful but the noise level was really loud. It was hard to carry on a conversation.
Usually, I enjoy the food I order at Tavern on Kruse. However, this visit, I ordered their version of a chopped salad which I was very, very disappointed in. Whatever "field greens" were in the salad were just awful. And I do not know why it is called a chopped salad as nothing in it was "chopped". I ate everything but the greens. Therefore, upon finishing lunch when our server picked up my plate she asked what was wrong. I told her about the terrible greens. Not only that, another customer at the next table, told her the exact same thing. And if they are going to serve a "chopped" salad, make it a "chopped" salad with regular lettuce, etc.
Service is good and food is tasty but as a person that cooks the pricing is to high for what you receive.
Great first time experience! Food, drinks an service hit all points. Loved the menu and look forward to coming back for more.
My wife and I split a burger. The burger was great, but the fries were lukewarm and a little soggy. Service was outstanding as always. Also, we made a reservation on line and it seemed there were no table available until late evening, but when we got there, half the tables were empty. Might want to check into this.
The food was excellent, an we always receive awesome service when dining here. Everybody is so friendly, and they always remember us which is always a bonus!
Great for a business lunch! Food & service excellent.
Great food and service.
Our first visit won’t be our last. Service was prompt and very good. We ordered the crab dip appetizer. It was good but the bread was like thick pieces of toast which were not our favorite. We shared the roasted red pepper ravioli which was outstanding but the side of salmon was a thin end piece that was over cooked and dry. So some things we loved and others not so much. We’ll try some different next time
I last reviewed the Tavern on Kruse 2 1/2 years ago just after they opened. I've been back a few times since and I think it's gotten better. We just had dinner there with friends and all the food was excellent (well, the rosemary french fries were not very crispy). Two of our party had the Ahi tuna burger, my friend had the beet salad with a steak side and I had the Tavern burger. The Ahi was cooked just right and well-seasoned and the salad greens were great, even in Winter. Another reviewer complained about too many beets in the beet salad, but my friend loved that. My burger was rich and satisfying. Our service was good. The wine list is diverse and seems well-priced $20 (corkage if you bring your own).
The place is lively on the weekends with a large bar area with high-top seating. In good weather there is outside dining, sometimes with live music. I haven't been yet, but they advertise a brunch on the weekends that looks very good. Good to have this in the neighborhood.
Not a good service for a change since they had a big party that they had to take care of. It was unusual because they are usually good and quick
