This was our first visit we had reservations and were seated as we arrived. Attentive staff. Great food. Will definitely go back.
Good place a little pricey for what you get food was excellent service was acceptable
My husband and I gave Tavern a try for the first time last night around 830pm. Being GF, I loved how many GF offerings they had and how they were labeled. I had and also loved the filet mignon (medium was just right for me!) and lavender lemon drop drink (there were creative cocktail combinations that I'd want to return to Tavern to sample)! Hubby had the beef stroganoff and a gin and rum. We noticed the wait staff worked well as a team, that not only our waitress but others stayed aware to cues that we might need something. That's all too rare these days! Also, the bar area was very lively so we asked for a quiet seat and the booths in the back were perfect! We'll definitely be back!
Tavern is a family favorite. The menu has a good variety of options. I often get the fish tacos, but also love the shrimp and grits, salmon salad and calamari appetizer. I also like the nachos with fresh jalapeños and the bruschetta. The doughnut holes for dessert are outstanding. This is a great "neighborhood place."
We went for Mother’s Day dinner. It was easy to make a reservation for the time we wanted. It is located near our neighborhood, so we didn’t have to drive too far. It’s nice but fairly casual. The selection of food was good, and what we ordered was very tasty. Service was excellent. This was a very good choice for a pleasant evening.
Mother’s Day - regular menu in evening. Not much acknowledgement of the day. Otherwise, typical great food and service.
We are regulars here & went for Mother’s Day brunch. The food is consistently very good, & the service is exceptional.
2 of us had crab cakes Benedict & the 3rd had huevos rancheros. Every thing was great!
One of my KC fave restaurants. (I come from Columbia). Disappointed that MY fave french toast (creme brûlée?) off menu tho
Awesome service & food. Great evening! I will go back!
We have dined at TIV for several years on our wedding anniversary. This year, the food was not as good. We are discussing whether to try again next year. Ok, but not memorable.
Wonderful place for outdoor easy dinner! A dinner of house salads topped w/ salmon is just perfect for a warm spring nite. The covered outdoor tables are so perfect. Great service, ambiance and easy dinner. Taven’s hostess desk is so welcoming and helpful, Just a great place for an easy relaxing dinner with a glass of wine. Love it.
Great food and service. Good for a date night for sure.
This is a family favorite! We love the food, servers, and atmosphere. You can never go wrong at Tavern in the Village.
Very good food and our server was great. Would definitely recommend this place to friends.
Had southwestern chicken salad..Chicken was cooked to a crisp, hard to cut and harder to chew.
The food is always top notch. Our most recent experience included a VERY long wait for food, and the kitchen forgetting to send out an item that we then had to wait longer for.
Always great! Customer service and servers wonderful! Food great.
One of our local favorites- love the happy hour, love the dinners and also brunch. I could eat here every week! Always great service and friendly staff. It was cozy on a cold night with their fireplaces on.
Could this be the loudest restaurant in town? Certainly in the running. Steak was tough, tomato on salad hard and mealy. Lastly, the dinner roll, (you get 1), is the same as you’d get from a package at grocery, served cold.
Tavern never disappoints! We love it!
The Osso Bucco is amazing but every dish I’ve tasted was delicious. Tasty drinks and fantastic service every time.
Good food with especially good service. Service to me means a lot. Is is not as much fun to go "out-to-eat" and then have a waiter/tress who doesn't give a crap about what they are doing for a living. WE ended up eating twice in one day at Tavern, different individuals waiting on us. Both were 1st class. My daughter lives a mile from Tavern, we are from Topeka, Ks. Will be back.
We went right at around 5:30 so happy hour was still going on. It was a little loud at first but died down around 6:30. Everything else was awesome!
The menu is diverse enough to be flexible for a variety of tastes, and consistently high enough quality that I am always comfortable suggesting it as a conveninent gathering spot.
Another excellent meal! Great service! Friendly staff
The Tavern’s menu never changes and needs some freshening.
Excellent food. Flexible ordering as we had our 5 year old grandson. Quick service and friendly staff.
Great service and dependably good food.
Thank you Tavern for another great meal. Always well prepared and served. It’s fun to be in your restaurant. The atmosphere is lively and comfortable.
The food and service were excellent! Highly recommend this for a quality experience!
Excellent meal, outstanding staff. I would eat here again for sure!
I had not eaten at The Tavern in The Village before and it was a hit. I had a Denver omelette for brunch which surpassed most Denver omelettes I've eaten elsewhere. The biscuits had a melt in your mouth consistency and were a bit crunchy on the outside. Paired with the homemade jam, they were a perfect side to the juicy omelette. The breakfast potatoes were very flavorful, moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The fresh squeezed orange juice hit the spot. My husband and I were arrived right when they opened on a Saturday morning, so it was quiet and Nick, our server, was very attentive. By the time we left, the place was packed. I would definitely drive in from Midtown KC again to dine at the Tavern.
We did dinner with reservations and requested a booth in a quiet area. Note-front(bar area) is very noisy. We were seated in a fairly quiet area-nice booth. Service was very good with no rush. I ordered steak sandwich with horseradish sauce, cheese and arugula on a special bun. The steak was not really noticeable nor was the horseradish sauce. Sandwich was warm, the bun was very good and the arugula was a nice addition. Not really a piece of steak sandwich-would guess less than 4-5 ounces of meat. My wife ordered the standard hamburger and reported it was just so-so. I observed it to be dry ? Both sandwiches came with french fries which were very good. This was disappointing with the Tavern having received good marks from others.
Service was good and the manager was making rounds asking if everything was ok. I chose not to say anything-we had invited friends to have dinner with us. Hindsight I should have mentioned something-you cannot fix something if you don’t know it’s broken-my fault. We will probably return and order something different.
The Tavern was excellent. I appreciate the consistently good food and service. It’s my go-to lunch place.
Ok. Soup too spicy. Place too noisy.
Good food, excellent service, a wonderful dining experience.
Food was delicious!! Loved the chocolate cake!
The food and service were excellent. We both ordered the Beef Stroganoff and it was a full meal. Served with asparagus. Each had a dinner salad and we were completely satisfied with the flavor, the presentation, the server and support. Very enjoyable for a very comfortable price.
Surprised by the widely varied menu. Didn't expect this in a neighborhood restaurant. The prices were half that of other quality dining and the service was better. We decided we would be coming back again even before we had their triple layer chocolate cake!
As always, everything at the Tavern was perfect. The hostess knows us by name on sight, as does the manager Anthony, and our favorite waiter Bobby Jones. I had one of my standbys, the Cubano, substituting Andouille hash for fries.
My wife and one of our guests had the lemon-shrimp bowtie pasta, and our other guest had the Asian chicken. Everyone was delighted and we had leftovers Sunday for lunch!
