The Tavern’s menu never changes and needs some freshening.
Excellent food. Flexible ordering as we had our 5 year old grandson. Quick service and friendly staff.
Great service and dependably good food.
Thank you Tavern for another great meal. Always well prepared and served. It’s fun to be in your restaurant. The atmosphere is lively and comfortable.
The food and service were excellent! Highly recommend this for a quality experience!
Excellent meal, outstanding staff. I would eat here again for sure!
I had not eaten at The Tavern in The Village before and it was a hit. I had a Denver omelette for brunch which surpassed most Denver omelettes I've eaten elsewhere. The biscuits had a melt in your mouth consistency and were a bit crunchy on the outside. Paired with the homemade jam, they were a perfect side to the juicy omelette. The breakfast potatoes were very flavorful, moist on the inside and crunchy on the outside. The fresh squeezed orange juice hit the spot. My husband and I were arrived right when they opened on a Saturday morning, so it was quiet and Nick, our server, was very attentive. By the time we left, the place was packed. I would definitely drive in from Midtown KC again to dine at the Tavern.
We did dinner with reservations and requested a booth in a quiet area. Note-front(bar area) is very noisy. We were seated in a fairly quiet area-nice booth. Service was very good with no rush. I ordered steak sandwich with horseradish sauce, cheese and arugula on a special bun. The steak was not really noticeable nor was the horseradish sauce. Sandwich was warm, the bun was very good and the arugula was a nice addition. Not really a piece of steak sandwich-would guess less than 4-5 ounces of meat. My wife ordered the standard hamburger and reported it was just so-so. I observed it to be dry ? Both sandwiches came with french fries which were very good. This was disappointing with the Tavern having received good marks from others.
Service was good and the manager was making rounds asking if everything was ok. I chose not to say anything-we had invited friends to have dinner with us. Hindsight I should have mentioned something-you cannot fix something if you don’t know it’s broken-my fault. We will probably return and order something different.
The Tavern was excellent. I appreciate the consistently good food and service. It’s my go-to lunch place.
Ok. Soup too spicy. Place too noisy.
Good food, excellent service, a wonderful dining experience.
Food was delicious!! Loved the chocolate cake!
The food and service were excellent. We both ordered the Beef Stroganoff and it was a full meal. Served with asparagus. Each had a dinner salad and we were completely satisfied with the flavor, the presentation, the server and support. Very enjoyable for a very comfortable price.
Surprised by the widely varied menu. Didn't expect this in a neighborhood restaurant. The prices were half that of other quality dining and the service was better. We decided we would be coming back again even before we had their triple layer chocolate cake!
As always, everything at the Tavern was perfect. The hostess knows us by name on sight, as does the manager Anthony, and our favorite waiter Bobby Jones. I had one of my standbys, the Cubano, substituting Andouille hash for fries.
My wife and one of our guests had the lemon-shrimp bowtie pasta, and our other guest had the Asian chicken. Everyone was delighted and we had leftovers Sunday for lunch!
Food and service was great!
My wife and I really enjoyed Tavern In The Village. Their salads are insanely good. I got the southwest chicken salad and my wife got the Asian ahi tuna salad. I have not any food that is not good here. I would like to see somethings change on the menu from time to time. Overall it is a good restaurant for a nice date night. Will definitely be back.
As always the food and service were impeccable. Our server was unobtrusive as he refilled beverages and checked in. This was a business lunch and our server did not make us feel rushed. Truly great!
I went to the Tavern for Valentine's Day. I really loved their tulip centerpieces and the opportunity to make a reservation. The wait staff was professional and well trained. My server never made us feel rushed although I'm sure there were plenty of patrons who requested walk in seating. The noise level was perfect for easy conversation and the tables were generously spaced so each couple had privacy.
Going back tomorrow with out-of-town houseguests! We’ve never had a bad meal at the Tavern. Ever!
As usual, food & service were very good. Our only concern is the noise level - one person in our party is hard of hearing, which makes conversation much more difficult.
Christy, one of the managers, always makes our night better! She takes care of my family and ensures we have the BEST dining experience possible. Thank you!
This was my first trip to the Tavern and it won't be my last-! Loved the trout and brussel sprouts-! The 4 of us each ordered something different from each other and totally loved it.
Our food and service were wonderful. So glad we picked this spot to have dinner. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone. Cute area of KC, affordable, and great food.
Still have not received my rewards card.
Great burgers. Really like the environment too. Ate in the bar. Excellent service.
Take reservations:) Very pleasant setting & good food !!
Very convenient location at which you are bound to run into people you know.. We wish that the menu were updated.
Good place for a business lunch.
We visited this restaurant during KC restaurant week. The entire experience was amazing. The food and service was excellent. I will visit again and I will recommend it to others. Thanks for everything!
My wife and I had dinner here for the first time and we were very pleased. The service was exceptional and the food was very good. Being our first time we did not know what to expect but we were very pleased with our "date night" experience!
We went out for dinner at Tavern during Restaurant Week so it was very busy. We did have to wait a few minutes, even with our reservation, but it was only 5-10 minutes. Our meal was AMAZING! So delicious! The blackberry demi-glace that accompanied the perfectly cooked filet mignon was wonderful! Highly recommend!
We went for Restaurant Week- the food was delicious!
The food was delicious and there were many great sounding options on the menu to pick from. And the service was outstanding. But the drinks are pricey for the food/atmosphere and it was a bit too loud for ongoing conversation. The food and service is enough to bring me back, but not sure it will be for date night next time.
The Tavern is consistently one of our favorites. I had a business lunch at the Tavern Mission Farms for lunch followed by dinner with family at the Tavern PV. Great place!
One of my favorite spots in KC! Service is always great and the food is even better!
It was a cold night, but we were welcomed warmly for our first visit. We had a reservation and got seated right on time. The service was outstanding and the wait staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs and requests. The food was very fresh and tasty. The hummus appetizer was plentiful and delicious. We had the crab cake sandwich, beef stroganoff and steak salad. I would recommend any of these. We will be back to try some of the other dishes.
Great fun as always. (when you get a window booth).
I’ve been to this restaurant many times, mainly because it is convenient to where I live; however, the overall quality level has declined to the point that I will hesitate to return in the future.
The Tavern menu is predictable and rarely changes. Even the “specials” are predictable. Boring, people! The overall noise level can be difficult, as well.
Truly healthy options are limited, and preparation of said options is ill-considered. For example, for dinner I recently ordered my go-to dish, the salmon salad. The greens were not fresh, having been “prepped” (so the waiter told me) early that morning. This means that the chopped greens, which were not of first rate quality to start, were sitting for many hours in the fridge. By the time they arrived at my place, they were wilted, degraded, and tasted as though they’d been soaking up beet juice for hours. The portion of salmon on top did nothing to change the fact that the salad itself was poorly prepared. Needless to say, I sent it back to the kitchen.
IF I go back, I guess from now on I will have to send a special request to the chef to prepare my green salads freshly and from scratch. It seems an inconvenience for a regular customer to have to do this, don’t you think?
Great location. Good service, good food, very good value.
