Our waiter was excellent!
The food was good but not great. Drink service was slow. This was our second visit and it was not as good as the first time around. (But have to say the Roasted Brussels sprouts were great!)

Shawn, our server may have been the best we have ever had. Not only was he attentive to our needs but the efficiency he had working his section was phenomenal. He was aware of everything around him and everyone's needs in his section. The food was wonderful. I had the bone in place to chop and the Mrs had the flat iron steak. The sauces were as advertised and courses were timely. Great value on Coronado and amazing service. If you are in the area, check out this hidden gem.
On vacation in Coronado CA. Place came recommended by a local. Loved it. Great atmosphere. Service was great. Good wonderful. My husband had fish and chips. Light tender delicious. I had crab cakes. Delicious. Definitely worth a stop!! Will certainly come again!

The food was excellent. I kind of felt judged when we didn't order cocktails but our waitress was excellent at keeping our water full.

This place is always high on our list of places to hit everytime we are in Coronado. They never disappoint.
We had reservations for 7:00 for a window and we had to wit 45 minutes for a window. My wife's hamburger came out well done when she asked for medium. The second burger came out the same way. The chef offered dessert. My wife said "no" I didn't eat the burger so I want the burger taken off. The waitress said"oh, okay". U mean honestly.
Exceeded our expectations. Appreciated the attentive service, and the care that went into the food, which was comforting but was a cut above standard comfort food. Will definitely go back!
Very good chicken pot pie and mac & cheese. Surprisingly loud. The inside seems a bit run-down. Good service.
One of our favorite meals in San Diego (pork chop with polenta), however we come knowing that the service will be slow.
Very slow to take our order. People who were seated after us were getting their orders taken before it was acknowledged that we were there. Then gave drinks to wrong table.

Poor service. The chicken came out uncooked. Took forever to get it back. Dessert came out burnt. No one seemed to care. Waiters and expos were in a big hurry rushing around, sliding plates on tables but not really checking in or caring about the customer experience. When I suggested some items be taken off the bill because of all the problems, including the burnt dessert, the waiter shrugged and said "maybe next time?' He seemed helpless.
Also, we indicated on our reservation that we were celebrating an anniversary and my wife's birthday and there was no acknowledgment of that at all.
Food and service were good. Music and background noise too loud. Hard to have a conversation across the table.
The place was packed (and very loud) when we arrived. Our Table was ready for us. Took a while for our server to stop by (actually ran to the table he was so busy). Ordered cocktails and appetizers. Appetizers arrived before our cocktails. Never good. When they did arrive, they were great. My Cadillac Margarita was excellent.
Service did improve after that....to the point we would rate as excellent.
The Crispy Brussel Sprouts appetizer was outstanding. Outstanding. Best we ever had. Highly recommended.
Chicken entree was very good. Moist and tasty. Recommended. The Cheese and Charcuterie Board was also very good. Variety of cheeses and meats, along with honey, jams, pickles, olives, mustard and toasted bread. Again, highly recommended. We had our 3 year old grandson with us - we ordered Chicken Pasta for him. Very good. Pasta was v good, and the chicken flavorful. Also came with fresh sliced apple.
The place was v loud. It was 7:30 on a Friday evening. Conversation across the table was hard but not impossible. Not a place for an intimate or business dinner.
We will definitely return and will recommend to our friends and family.

Food burnt, took and hour to get it
This was our first visit to The Tavern and we parked and entered on the NW side of the bldg, which offered no signage directing us to the restaurant. We had to ask someone that worked in the bldg. The menu was diverse and we were pleased to see they had a nice selection of small plates as we were not terribly hungry. My husband ordered sliders, which were good, however they did not offer an alternative to French fries, except for sweet potato fries for an additional $3. He opted for the latter. They were tasty but he only ate 2-3. I ordered the filet mignon tacos (2). I only ate one which was okay but the other one was not edible as it was full of gristle. Despite that, the service was outstanding. Our server was friendly and very attentive. When he saw that the fries were not eaten, he discounted our bill. We did enjoy all the staff that we interacted with and am really sorry to say we probably won’t go back a second time.

I can't tell you what everybody else's experience was but our service was awful. Even when we tried to make our wants known they still missed the mark. The food was good but not great. All in ...a disappointment but not a tragedy.
Absolutely one of the best meals on the island without having to break the bank! So excited to go back.
This was our second visit to Tavern and we made reservations for a party of four. We were seated at a small table right by the hostess stand - with a reservation we expected a better table. It was extremely loud. It took a long time for the server to come to our table. There were also multiple times that an employee would come to our table and try to give us food that we didn’t order. It seemed there was a lot of miscommunication and chaos going on among the staff. The women’s restroom was poorly stocked - no soap or paper-towels in the respective dispensers. The one bright spot was the food - which is why this was our second visit. The food was excellent - presentation, portions, taste. It is too bad the service and ambiance left much to be desired. It was a holiday weekend in a high-end tourist location - we definitely expected better. Especially with a reservation!

Everything we had was delicious. We appreciated that the kids menu wasn’t limited to the regular fare of chicken strips and basic Mac and cheese. Our kids loved the salmon option! We’ll definitely be back next time we are in Coronado!
The absolute best food at really great prices. My husband had the ribs and could not have been happier. I had the pork chops and my kids had burgers. All were delicious! Server was really informative too. Great experience!
Food was Fantastic! We had a reservation and were on time and were seated immediately.
Service was slow. Dinner took almost an hour to get our food. They forgot one entree and after reminding them they said it would only take 3 minutes and the chef would comp that entree. The forgotten entree did not arrive until AFTER everybody had already cleaned their plates. They still included the entree in the bill.
The decor was great. Really cool place, but VERY VERY VERy loud. Hard to hear the person across from you and impossible to hear somebody at the other end of the table.
The meal and food was great, though. Everything was fresh and flavorful. Just very loud and slow and didn’t do what they said regarding the bill.
Great place for pre theater dinner or dinner with friends.
The noise level can be very loud but it is named the Tavern not the Intimate Hideaway! Food is good, service was excellent. Try the pork chop entree.
