We chose Tavern & Table for our 17th wedding anniversary night out. Excellent choice! Highly recommend! Even though the restaurant was busy we never felt rushed. We sat in the dining room but with a river view and the arrangement was cozy and intimate even with other larger tables around us. Food was phenomenal and well priced for the quality. My husband had the bison burger at the recommendation of a friend. He's a tough critic but proclaimed this burger delicious. I chose the pan seared sea scallops - oh my what a flavorful delight! The server was attentive without being intrusive which we also loved. Overall an excellent experience and well worth the drive.
Great food, especially the burnt macaroni and cheese. Amazing views, good service-perfect dinner!
Lousy service - food over cooked - beautiful spot - so disappointing !
Good food, good drinks, great people watching.
Intermittent inattentive service. High prices. Below average food. Signature fried Devi,ed eggs were mostly mustard on egg white. Clam chowder bland. Ordered a bowl instead of a cup and apparently go same amount for $3.00 more. Soup spoon resting on bottom of bowl was not submerged. Spicy chicken sandwich , mostly bread. Chicken wings flavorless. Must be better places on the water. $200 for 4 people, salads, soup and sandwiches and 4 drinks. Not worth it.
Beautiful venue beautiful scenery fabulous food and great service.
The experience was great, the hostess was very accommodating, the server was kind and quick, and the food was delicious. Highly recommend sitting out on the back deck; it was heated and made a chilly night even better with a great view of the sunset.
My wife and I were there to celebrate, from the moment the terrible hostess showed us to our seats to the time you bartender kept screwing up was sad. Our waiter Chris from Vermont was a really nice guy apologizing and trying to help all the while but unfortunately to much not in his control.
Food fantastic, my beet salad and AhiTuna great, my wife’s crab/artichoke dip and bone in Ribeye cooked to perfection. But to be told , sorry the bar swamped so that my 2nd glass of Perrin Cote du Rhône barely arrived before my meal was over!! Really thought that was bad enough until we got to the 2 totally unacceptable Irish coffees we ordered and sent back. Please teach the bartender about whipped cream, seriously we recd the coffees and poor Chris stated he was sorry and returned momentarily after whipping some cream. Shocked and very disappointed?
I dine at Tavern and Table about once a month. The staff is terrific and the food nicely prepared and presented. It is a "go to" restaurant when I have friends or family in town because of it's "vibe", views of Shem Creek, and its culinary consistency.
The roasted oysters are amazing as are the dynamite shrimp. Burgers, crab, corn bread rounded out our last visit! And, or course, my favorite, Brussels sprouts and kale salad! Wonderful.
Make a reservation and GO...you won't be disappointed!
The bacon was old and cold, crab seemed partially canned..had the metal taste. Very overpriced.
Nice restaurant but the food is almost to eclectic. I'm never sure what their forte might be. I've tried full plates, small plates, bar food and find my favorite thing there is the pretzel appetizer. My food and prosciutto pizza was good too.
The brunch burger was amazing!!
Great view and decor
Grilled cheese of the day was delicious and not your ordinary (eggplant parm)
As always good food, a bit noisy thou
Food was very good as so the service
We will come back
The atmosphere was active, but a good noise level. The quality of the food was very high, wine selection is good, and at a reasonable price. This is definitely a go to spot if guests are in town.
We had a great steak salad and we enjoyed the waterfront!
I love Tavern & Table and so does my family. As we go on a regular basis at this point I wish the menu would change a bit. I have Celiac disease which limits my choices but in general the restaurant is very accommodating with allergies. The location and atmosphere never seem to disappoint.
Excellent! Both my husband and I enjoyed what we ordered. Our server was great. We ordered the cornbread after our entrees came out. The bread didn't come out until we finished our meal. Our server apologized and said it was taken off our bill and the manager came out and said that dessert was on them. This was above and beyond and not expected, but a nice gesture. If we lived in the area we definitely would come back. Excellent customer service. We didn't even think that anything was really wrong just a little late on the cornbread. Southern hospitality at its best! And both dinners and desserts were A+!
Love the sweet potato fries!
Logan was an excellent server!
We received spotty service despite the restaurant being nearly empty. The waiter didn’t explain the Daily Grind special besides saying it was a hot dog and our kid wasn’t happy with the dish and all the accoutrements including on the hot dog itself. We waited a long time for the waiter to come back after the runner dropped off the dish.
Unfortunately one of the same dishes we had the night before was smaller (peel and eat shrimp, same price).
Overall ok but nearly not as on point as at dinner the night before.
Excellent food, pretty restaurant though noisy despite being only partly full on a Monday evening. Parking is a challenge. Our waiter started off as not very welcoming but warmed up after we ordered drinks and appetizers. We appreciated the local beer options. Seafood very fresh. Sweet potatoes (fried and seasoned) are absolutely delicious. We were too full for dessert.
Loved it! Great food, service and atmosphere!
Had such high hopes, but left slightly disappointed. They were “out” of half their mix drinks that I settled then for a standard glass of wine I barley finished.
Food was alright, plenty of other nicer restaurants in ShemCreek that aren’t out of their mix drinks. Not sure I’ll go back.
The first time we came here I had their signature Tuna dish and it was great. The second time not so great. I know the tuna is supposed to be 'just seared' but the rest of it should at least be warm. Mine was not. And two of the pieces were inedible because they were cut from the wrong part of the fish. It was too late for me to send it back and I didn't want to cause a fuss but the kitchen really should be more attentive at those prices. On the other hand the others in the part enjoyed their crab cakes, shrimp and grits and Branzino.
We had a wonderful family dinner while visiting the Charleston area. Tavern & Table has excellent food and service. We will be going back with friends next week! One of the best dining options on Shem Creek with great views of the water and a delicious menu. Excellent kids menu too.
Food and service isn't that great, but location and view makes it worth it.
Delicious food, great service and relaxing atmosphere.
Oysters on the half shell and the fried deviled eggs are must-have from the appetizer menu. Generous salads, and satisfying burgers.
So good, enjoyed the small plates and the waitress was very nice and pleasant. The drinks were also delicious. Food came out super quick which was awesome. Can’t wait to go back.
Wish the server had paid a bit more attention to us but the food was fantastic and I loved the decor and ambiance!
Fantastic service, great atmosphere, good for all from bar hoppers to kids.
Highly recommend for the $$!!!
We had cousins from out of town (Washington State) who wanted fresh fish & southern food. We needed a table for 6 to 8 & thought he’d love Shem Creek with the boats. We sat outside with water view & listened to band & they tried several local beers & appetizers. They lived the scallops & tuna! Our server -a man - was excellent!! A very enjoyable night!!!!
Place is super nice and had great food, and service was pretty okay. BUT the menu is very limited, and it’s very pricy for the amount of food you get. Was not happy with the served amount of food. Spend $36 on crab cakes that were the size of a tobacco tin, while they were absolutely delicious, wayyyy too small for that amount of money. Food was served nicely, beer was great but you don’t get a lot for the money. Unless you’re just dying to spend $85 on a snack for two, don’t bother.
Well I want to make clear we went to this restaurant on St. Patrick’s Day, so there was more bar activity than normal I would think, but the restaurant was very noisy and loud. The service, although attentive, was slow and fragmented, they were pleasant when they came by, they just didn’t come by often. The food was better than I remembered, it had been a year or so since I had been here and I was hesitant because of the poor quality of food the last visit. So I think it has improved, maybe try it on a day it’s not so busy, and things might be better.
Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed in my experience at Tavern & Table. Once seated, we waited for about 10 minutes before our server came over for our drink order. Our server didn't provide us with his name and seemed distracted, which made us feel unwelcome. For starters, we ordered the fried deviled eggs and shrimp tempura. The fried deviled eggs were underwhelming, but we really enjoyed the shrimp tempura. We shared the shrimp and grits, which, was served lukewarm and was also underwhelming for the price. The server didn't ask if we wanted to see the dessert menu, but that was probably for the best, seeing as we were not happy with most of the other food items. I will not be recommending Tavern & Table to anyone because the price was not worth the experience or the food.
We had visited in November and enjoyed it so much that we decided this visit to Charleston to not only come again, but brought friends as well. It was St. Patrick's Day, so the bar was very "energetic", but that was okay as the service was fabulous and the food delicious!
We visited to celebrate my sons 14th birthday and it was fantastic! The food was amazing! Our waitress was the sweetest and very accommodating with our special photo request and the atmosphere is lovely. The only downside was the noise however it was St. Patty's Day and I suspect this was not a typical Saturday night crowd.
Great lunch. Never disappointed
Tavern and Table has a very nice decor and good view. I thought the menu was pretty limited but we found a good wine. Not one of my favorites on Shem Creek.
We wanted our last night in South Carolina to be special and Tavern and Table did that admirably. From cocktails in comfortable cushioned chairs on the waterfront deck to fine crafted small plates and locally sourced dinner indoors, we were well received and cared for. The fresh ground meats in the French dip were tender and spectacularly tasty. The cheeses board and burnt end macaroni and cheese were stand outs too.
Everyone was thrilled with the choice and a walk in the marshes afterwards made our vacation so memorable! Kudos.
