Tavern & Table
Everything we experienced and tasted at Tavern and Table was exceptional. It was delicious and delightful!
We had great time, it wasn’t nearly as packed as we expected. It was restaurant week, and we know how slow this time of the year can be. Our server disappeared once we were ready to close out, but everything else was wonderful and our server was very sweet to us. Would love to come back sometime soon.
Some friends and I ate at Tavern and Table for Restaurant Week. It was our first time dining there and we love it! Great food, great menu, and great portions for the price. All of the staff was very hospitable and accommodating. I will definitely be returning!
Been there many times. Food is generally good but service this time was awful. Our server, Austin, didn’t have a clue and was better suited for other work.
I really like Tavern and Table’s regular menu but was disappointed from the restaurant week menu. The foie gras chicken lever mousse was covered in whole black/red pepper so the taste of the mousse was overwhelmed by the strong taste of pepper! The duck was also disappointing, it was undercooked. I’m French and I grew up eating foie gras and duck, they are my favorite food. The panna cotta was amazing.
We chose Tavern and Table as a destination for family visiting from Cape Cod. They were impressed by the service, food and ambiance. We felt you lived up to the high marks scored on previous visits for us. Very creative menu and a nice offering of small plates.
Our first visit to Tavern & Table and our last. We had Noon Brunch on Sunday and the service/kitchen was slow. 12:20 pm before our drinks were served. They were the best part of the meal. I ordered 1/2 dozen oysters from Boston on the half shell raw, and they were very tasty. My wife ordered SE&C Bagel that was over cooked and had OK hash browns. She could not eat the food because it dry and had no taste. I ordered the 2x2x2 which is two strips of tough bacon, two small patties of sausage (cooked hard as a brick) and two eggs sunny side up. There was potato flat cake on the plate that was black on one side it was so over cooked and hard I could not cut it with my knife. The eggs were eatable but the other food was just bad. We will never return to this place.
My husband and I arrived to our 7:15 reservation 5-10 minutes early to be told the individuals at the table they had to assigned us had not yet left. They instead offered to seat us in the bar right next to a door leading outside, or out on the patio. I asked to be seating in the dining area where I had the reservation for and was told there would be a 30-45 minute wait. We were getting ready to leave when the hostess sighed and had someone lead us to a table in the dining area--she seemed rude and dismissive.
The appetizers were delicious as were the desserts, but the entree's both my husband and I had were bland and should have had additional garnishments or sauce. They were well cooked, but the combination of flavors and textures left something to be desired
I love dining on Shem Creek and our server was attentive, but there are many other restaurants that I would visit in the Charleston area over Tavern and Table again.
Pricey and not worth it!
Out with my regular group for an early dinner (4:30 p.m.) with an Open Table reservation in a nearly empty restaurant. My first clue was that no one was at the hostess table to seat us. Upon venturing into the restaurant, we found the wait staff with receptionist enjoying a good laugh near the kitchen. The hostess was very young so, of course, I had to repeat and spell my name several times (obviously she had not even peeked at her reservation list).
Our server greeted us a few minutes later - Jacqui is a very young ebullent (i.e., loud) girl who talked about 100 miles per minute. We asked for time to review the menu and she must have come back to our table 4 times in the next 2 minutes inquiring if we were ready to order. Noting again, the nearly empty restaurant, we asked if we needed to “eat up and get out” to which she jokingly replied “yes” and then spouted the obligatory “just kidding.”
Upon seeing the clam chowder with bacon, sherry, ,etc., we asked if the chowder was tasty and whether all the ingredients were well balanced to which Jacqui obligatorily replied “yes” with no further comment. None of our party could taste the sherry and upon bringing this oversight to Jacqui’s attention, Jacqui replied “well, you can’t taste some of the ingredients.” HMMMM
We all ordered another round of drinks with one of us re-ordering a diet coke. You guessed it....no diet coke came for 10-15 minutes. If you also guessed that Jacqui was found enjoyhing a good laugh with other servers near the kitchen, you are right. Jacqui gave the obligatory apology.
While the eatery has great ambiance, great view and high ceilings, we now have found another restaurant masquerding as a fine dining establisment with prices to match but with cooks and not chefs and “wet behind the ears” staff vs. professional servers.
Quoth the raven “nevermore!”
We enjoyed an early dinner with friends. It was not noisy so we had good conversations. The food and service was good but on the pricey side for everyday dining.
Awesome Brunch at Tavern & Table!!
Everything was great. It’s right on Shem Creek, it is beautiful inside and the food and the staff are awesome.
Great place to enjoy some time with old friends. Service was great but not intrusive. food was good and reasonably priced.
Shared several of the appetizers for lunch and was very pleased with all of them together to make an interesting lunch.
This place has become more of a great place to grab a drink before you go eat someplace better. Food is overpriced and not that good
We ordered several small plates and then fought over each one. All were really good!
Great looking entrance.Plenty of parking.Nice outdoor water view. OUTSTANDING burger.
The service was the least pleasurable part of our visit.
Service was good but got 1 order wrong. Food was just OK, not as good as expected. Some of the meat wasn't totally cooked.
Excellent meal and friendly service. Rare combination of fantastic food and ambience but also kid friendly. Great all around. Keep up the great work!
A very nice restaurant! Good food and service. The restaurant looks great inside and out and good food selection on the menus.
Great food, good service - special place for a Christmas Eve meal
They have expanded the menu! and it is wonderful! It took a while to get the food but it was worth the wait!
Food was mostly good, but the cube-like portion of the pork duo was honestly disgusting.
Great food and great service. Friendly atmosphere. We will return
My fiancé (it’s so exciting to call him that!) and I came here for dinner to celebrate our engagement. We were brought a couple glasses of champagne and congratulated upon being seated. It was such a thoughtful gesture!
We were seated right by the Christmas tree and had a very romantic dinner. The food was delicious. We got a soft pretzel to start, he had the steak frites and I had the brick chicken. We were stuffed, but couldn’t say no to dessert, so we brought the seasonal dessert home. Everything was delightful, such a wonderful experience.
I noted “special occasion “ and allergies with my reservation. Felt this was not addressed fully throughout; reminded the hostess who said she would notify the server, Esrah. Esrah was friendly and pleasant, but needed to be reminded of the allergies.
NO mention of our special occasion was ever mentioned. Why ask?
FOOD: my options were somewhat limited, but the flavors were good. Steak was well-seasoned.
Offer of fresh pepper cane too far after the meal was delivered.
We would return, but maybe for lunch.
Everything was absolutely amazing as always. Favorite restaurant in Charleston
It was great except
We did not like the new menu. Seems we got more for our money with the original menu. The place lost its charm 😣
Please have the Pigeonhole deli menu regularly. It was delicious!
Went to the Jewish deli pop up and loved every bite!
Went for a pop up by Pigeon Hole. Impressed with the food and great service. The food was off the chart delicious, hope they do this again.
I’ve been here before for lunch and was really impressed so I brought my boy friend here for a date. We got wings for an app and they were so fatty and dripping. We weren’t a fan of the taste and didn’t finish it. I ordered the pork duo and swapped the grits for mashed potatoes. My boy friend got the short rib. My meal was fine, but his was bad. His short rib was flavorless, and his mashed potatoes were a completely different taste and consistency than mine. The service was slow but I’m always understanding of that on weekends. Overall we were pretty disappointed with the food and don’t plan to be back.
Relaxing comfortable environment, more quiet than most local restaurants so able to enjoy conversation at table, great service, and food was excellent-especially enjoyed the Dynamite Shrimp and Fire roasted vegetables.
Outstanding food and Service!!
First time for dinner, all previous times for lunch
I would just like to say thank you to my server Tyler. He was very attentive and amazing. We came in for a birthday and anniversary, the hostess acknowledged us and offered champagne which was nice. I appreciated how you made us feel on such a special day. Thank you all!!!!
Decent restaurant, but overpriced compared to several other similar restaurants in the immediate area. Food was good, but underwhelming considering the price. We had as good or better food for less at other nearby quality restaurants.
