Dinner for Valentine's Day. Food was very good, but the service was not. Server completely forgot about our app, and our main dishes took a very long time. The restaurant was not full, and would have expected them to be prepared for a heavier night, as it was a holiday where quite a few people go out to dinner. Food saved the night, but would hesitate to go there again with all the other options in the area.
This was my first time eating at Tavern 64. I just happened to Google it and the menu looked pretty good. I will be returning on Wednesday for Valentine's Day with my husband. I was there last Friday with a couple of my girlfriends from work and the food was excellent. Great portions for the money and tasted very fresh. Although my server didn't seem to really want to serve and engage our table (hence the very good not excellent score) , the cooking staff was very accommodating. Someone in our party cannot have fish/seafood at all on her food and they made sure she was taken care of and didn't get sick. I will definitely recommend Tavern 64 to anyone looking for a good reasonably priced meal.
My husband and I had Sunday brunch at Tavern 64. First, there was no host/hostess to greet us. A waiter came over and we told him we had a reservation. He sat us in the bar which is ok. Our waiter greeted us and we placed a drink order. I had hot tea and my husband coffee. He poured me a cup of hot water and then took the tea pot away. Never asking if I needed more hot water or if my husband needed more coffee. Our waiter had three tables but he seemed overwhelmed. I wondered if he was the bartender and was filling in for someone. The food is good but Jackson's down the street has a more interesting menu and the food is better.
We will not return.
The “traditional Thanksgiving” dishes were anything but traditional. The turkey was dry, the ribeye was way overdone and tasteless, the sides were horrendous and the desserts were pitiful and looked and tasted like they were purchased at Costco. The worst $54 per person Thanksgiving dinner I’ve ever had at a restaurant!! Awful!!!
Good was over cooked. Our server rarely made appearances and seemed to be covering half the room. I won't be back. The server was nice enough to give a free glass of wine to my wife after we spilled it. We did not expect that and it was a pleasant surprise.
Are usually do not recommend hotel restaurants, they generally feel overpriced.
Tavern 64, the restaurant that I continue schedule business meetings, Because food is good, service is excellent, and the atmosphere is casual.
The scallops and pork belly Are an excellent choice.
Amazing find off the nd of Market St actually in the Hyatt Hotel. It sources locally from farms and the food was delicious.Menu changes seasonally. Scallops over garlic grits just melted in your mouth as did the salmon with crispy skin over a mix of quinoa and pomegranates. The martinis were excellent. Instead of bread you got biscuits that were not crumbly but soft and yummy. Will definitely be back. It was quiet the night we were there. This is one of the few really good restaurants in Reston Town Center.
At 6:15 on a Friday night we were the only table in the restaurant. The food was good, however we were rushed and the whole meal including soup & salad was over in an hour.
The wait staff were inexperienced, though pleasant. We had to flag down our waiter for grated cheese, only to be served melted butter. With all the other restaurants in the town center, we picked the wrong one.
Good food and service. Thought there might be some recognition of my daughter's retirement as US NAVY Captain OR my son-in-law's birthday by the restaurant but there was not. I told them that the dinner was a special occasion. So disappointed. Thought at least a mini cup cake with candle.
We were disappointed with our visit for a family brunch. The food was decent, but one plate had to be sent back for very underdone eggs. The service was friendly enough but very rushed, almost to the point of agitation. Tavern 64 used to be a nice place for a special meal, now it's more like a run of the mill "hotel lobby restaurant".
The menu is small but the food is good and fresh. I had the buffalo burger which was tasty. The salad was too large for one person but was fresh and good. The others had pork which was flavorful and tender. Very friendly atmosphere. Good neighborhood spot and the service was fast and friendly.
After a couple visits I can confirm the food is very good. The Tavern side salad available with entres is a nice touch with vinaigrette and pickled onions(!). Brisket is exceptional. Bison burgers are wonderful, especially the Bacon & Blue. Compliments to the chef.
We look forward to trying the buffets, brunch, and more dinner visits. The three menus are different.
Lunchtime service is rather slow and sometimes mistakes are made. We realized we missed the Garlic-Chive Grits side dish after we left. Oops.
I asked for a green vegetable with my fish and they gave me white potatoes. So the price for salmon& potatoes , no veggie was too high. Also, $17 for a martini was too high, we didn't see the price listed. The waiter didn't come back to inform us themat it was talking a long time to split up the bill
This place is nice inside. And I know its part of the hotel and those tend to be pricier as a result, but we went for mother's day and unfortunately I was underwhelmed for the price and the fact that it was buffet.
First of all, when I booked a table I referenced the menu and menu pricing to gauge the type of food and pricing.
Secondly, buffets are already hit or miss, but there is nothing appealing about being all dressed up and then having to stand in a line with a plate like you're in a school cafeteria when you're reason for being there in the first place is to sit and enjoy a holiday with family.
No, I wasn't aware the brunch was a buffet or we would have chosen a different restaurant and perhaps when they did confirmation calls they should have let us know.
That said, while the food was fine, it was not worth the price overall in my opinion - especially when you see what a regular meal typically costs. No mother on mothers day needs a giant buffet with 6+ different meats and carving stations, etc. Brunch is supposed to be fun and light and full of mimosas and a light meal.
Seeing as it was mother's day I was just pretty disappointed - not only was I NOT expecting to spend $300 for only 4 people to eat a brunch (and that total with tip only included 3 cocktails and no other beverages) but I would prefer for that price to be able to relax and have a server wait on me rather than serving myself. (It also looked as if the staff was stressed out, had never run a buffet before and the kitchen staff look frazzled the whole time)
We wont be returning here.
We ended up getting there two hours early and needed a quite table. I was able to look around and pick the table as there was live music. Not only was the food delicious but the service allowed us to continue our conversation. I was a guest in the hotel and had a series of meetings and dined from 5pm to 10pm. Our bill was not cheap but the experience and the conversations made it entirely worth it.
Very nice dining experience. Server recommended the sea scallops which were amazing as was the rib eye steak that my wife had. The Bay Stew and brazed clam appetizers were also very, very tasty. The restaurant itself is bright and open with a lovely bar area and patio seating.
My wife and I reserved a table for a special date night we were having and were absolutely blown away by our experience at Tavern 64. It was our first time dining there and we didn't know what to expect. However, everything from the quaint and cozy booth where we sat, to the extremely delicious food dishes we ate, to the fact that it is a farm to table restaurant, to the service and the restaurant's ambience was incredible. We had such an awesome experience that we plan on dining there again whenever we have another special date night planned. Thank you Tavern 64 for providing us such an enjoyable and memorable experience!!
