Tavern 1757 Ratings and Reviews
We decided on this Restaurant for our Departmental Holiday gathering. We are a blend of individuals with varying tastes. The staff enjoyed the experience, the food, and the multitude of options. The price was a little on the higher side as we had drinks. This experience was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Staff was friendly, and helpful. I used Open table to reserve our table in advance, but confirmed it the afternoon of the event, since there were several of us going and the reviews said other people had problems with this. We of course had no issues. Thanks!
My friends and I had a great time. The service was excellent - could not have asked for better. We asked for some substitutions to the menu (cutting calories) and also for gluten free options. They were very accommodating on both accounts!
I had read some reviews that referred to poor service, but this was not our experience at all - everyone - the waitstaff, people cleaning the dishes and filling water and the bartender were terrific.
The food was delicious. I had the scallops. The flourless chocolate cake was amazing.
We had a very nice dinner. However, I would be hesitant to return to the restaurant based on how they handled my credit transaction. We paid with a Visa our bill was around $300 with tip. They processed the transaction and placed a hold on my card for $250. I have no issue with a hold up until the transaction but the transaction cleared my account on 7/16 and the hold was on the account until 7/21! I find that process unreasonable and will likely avoid this restaurant and advise others to as well based on their poor record keeping!
My family and I were recently there this past Friday. Our service was terrible, our server barely paid us any mind, we waited over an hour for our food while tables around us were served left and right. Once we finally received our food it wasn't even warm.. Horrible service
I made a late in the day reservation via open table with multiple times available. once a made the reservation, I was called to say that the restaurant would not honor the reservation. they were full and I could come in an hour or so later that requested but could not have the reservation that was confirmed electronically. they apparently do not know how to use Open table or are poor managers.
Went for Valentine's day dinner had holiday menu all sounded so good well we were wrong! We had lobster ravioli with newburg sauce and linguine with white wine garlic sauce and seafood. First there were only 4 ravioli and the sauce was bland then the pasta seemed like they poured the pot of water and pasta into bowl and threw in the seafood absolutely horrible. We paid our check and left we will never go back $100 for tasteless food what a waste.
Didn't care the people at the desk. A little too New York. Didn't like our waitress. The beef wellington was not even warm and the beef was over cooked and rubbery. The chef should never have let it go out to a customer. $30 dollars for cold left overs? Place looks great, too bad the food didn't match the ambiance.
When we arrived, they had no record of our Open Table reservation. It was my daughter's birthday and it just started out disappointing. They squeezed our party of five at a small table for four in the bar area which was noisy. The food was very good but the wait staff was not clear who was going to be our server. Not sure I would go back.
Tavern 1757 is a quaint little restaurant that has very good food and very good service. We started with a stuffed portabella mushroom cap that was amazing. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli with truffle cream sauce that comes with chicken or shrimp if you want it. She loved it! I had a lobster roll(warm of course) which was loaded with lobster and instead of being drowned in butter, had it on the side so you could dip or pour it on yourself. Nice touch. My only complaint was that being from New England, I am used to having seafood platters of any kind with a side order of cole slaw...this did not. I had to order the iceberg lettuce wedge salad (which was delicious). But it did come with roasted potato wedges which were very good.
The drinks were good, although our server did forget my Coca Cola that I ordered halfway through dinner.
My only gripe was in a restaurant that was slow that night(New Years night) and my wife and I were seated next to the kitchen. Shame on me for not asking for a different table.
All in all, a very nice place with delicious food, very good service, and affordable. We will return.
This is the quintessential "tavern" with a warm and cozy decor. We were happy to find live music in the bar, but it was too too loud to carry on a conversation. Our waiter was extremely helpful and accommodating - making great suggestions and insuring that we were always happy. He had a great sense of humor and allowed our large group of 8 ladies to stay as long as we wished. His recommendations (particularly the giant meatball) were delicious! It was such a pleasant surprise to find this gem in Seymour!
This place wasn't bad but when I arrived I was informed that they never got my Opentable reservation I made the night before and that it would be a while. They did come back fairly quickly and got us a table but I never had that happen before with Opentable. The wine list wasn't bad and we got a bottle, I expect wines to be double what I would pay in a store and found theirs to be a little more than that. The food was okay, nothing blew me away, it wasn't bad but I don't think the price is justified. My wife had a filet that was way overcooked but she never sends food back so she dealt with it.
We were nervous about coming here because of other reviews but I am glad we went anyway! I ordered the Blue Goose Lagoon and it was great! Every drink that went by looked good and had an appearance that was getting others to ask what that was, and ordering it. The ambiance of Tavern 1757 had a relaxing feel and was open. Overall we had a great experience and I would without a doubt go back.
At entrance, greeter never said hi, good night, may I help you or anything. After a while standing in front of her, while she was looking at the monitor or papers, she left, still leaving us waiting. When she were back (from five steps away), I said, we had a reservation. Then she acknowledged we were right in front of her. After that...all when up...good service, good wine, good food...
Attractive restaurant both inside and out. It looks like they have outside seating in warm weather. We had the portabella mushroom appetizer and salad to start both were good, so were the pizzas we got for the main course. Some of the main courses seemed a little high in price, but that could be what the area gets.
