Introducing Taureau, a fondue spot in SOHO helmed by a charismatic Frenchie, awaiting your next first date.
Opened by a seasoned fondue pro (Didier, who perfected his trade at his own Parisian fondue spot for 13 years), the small, space is decked in white and red, spotted with two-person tables and set up for serving one food and one food only: bubbling cauldrons of cheese, oil and chocolate.
This is pretty much all you need to know. Start with cheese, move to meat, finish with chocolate.
And don't worry about the stove-like contraption built into the surface of your table: it's designed to heat up the cauldron of fondue, but remain completely cold to the touch.
Dark or Milk Chocolate
Comes with a tray of Seasonal Fruits, Banana Cake and White Chocolate Cake
Took my girlfriend for her birthday. To say it was incredible would be an understatement. The service was excellent, the food was the best fondue experience I’ve ever had, and the prices were very reasonable (especially for the experience). We will definitely return!
It was a really nice experience. Please note they only take AMEX or cash.
Very little choice, my daughter and I wanted 3 course prix fixe and my son wanted 2. We were told that we all had to have three courses. The bill for a mother a 13-year-old and a 10-year-old came out to be $300 with the tip.
The cheese fondue for whatever reason was bulked with flour. I am gluten free and there was no bread choice, Which did not really upset me, but who makes Swiss traditional fondue with flour in it? And shouldn’t the waiter have told me so as I asked for the gluten-free bread?
Best fondue ever! We chose the traditional Swiss cheese and they provided unlimited salad and croutons to dip. So crazy good! We finished with the (milk) chocolate fondue (over the top yummy) and they provided unlimited food for dipping (fruit, cake, marshmallows). Service was awesome too! I give them a 10 for 10! 🤩
Nice place with a very tasty meal.
Excellent service by all employees in the restaurant.
Not just dinner but also an experience and fun time. The three courses offer a good variety to the meal and also something fun to do while chatting over dinner. A good amount of cheese options, simple and tender meats, and fantastic dessert treats with your chocolate. Highly recommend! Three course dinner can take upwards of two hours if not rushed through.
Great time. Server was helpful, friendly and experienced.
Thank you :)
The Meat Fondue and the Chocolate Fondue is simply amazing
Thank you so much! We're glad you enjoyed your time with us :)
Food was excellent with great service and environment
The food was delicious and the staff was very knowledgable about recommendations and attentive throughout
Thank you so much for your review! We're glad you enjoyed your time with us :)
Love this place. So romantic and amazing food and wine.
Thank you so much for your review Catherine! We're glad you enjoyed your time with us :)
Way overpriced for what you get.
The meal isn’t that satisfying, ESPECIALLY for the price
Dear Alex, we're sorry that we didn't live up to your expectations. Most patrons will not be able to completely finish each course and are satisfied after a big pot of cheese, meat and chocolate. As always, please do not hesitate to ask for more croutons as long as you have cheese, and for more fruits/cakes/marshmallows as long as you have chocolate :) Sincerely, Benjamin
For what it's worth, restaurant is extremely over priced and food is subpar. Ordered salami as a dipper and it was horrific. Was cut up in massive chunks and tasted horrible to the point where I couldn't even eat it. Major waste of a meal. Very dissapointing!
Dear Jake, thank you for your feedback. We're sorry that we couldn't live up to your expectations. Next time, please do not hesitate to alert your server if anything is wrong with the food. We will always make it right immediately :) Sincerely, Benjamin
Great date spot
Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed your time with us :)
I'm a fondue lover. I was really hoping they would have Gruyere cheese in their original Swiss but they did not. They served croutons and lettuce for the cheese dipping, anything else was a la carte. I'm used to dipping fresh bread with cheese so the croutons took some getting used to. I think fresh is best. The restaurant is quaint, intimate and likable, the service is very nice, however we were given a menu that gives 2 different pre fixe options, the '2-meal' cheese dipping and chocolate dipping, or the '3-meal' which was $15 more and included meat. I'm a vegetarian and had no interest in meat, however because I was sitting with a party of 7 and the rest of them wanted the '3-meal' option, I was told that I needed to have the same! Explaining I'm vegetarian and didn't want meat, they offered to let me pick from the menu to substitute but I honestly just wanted the cheese and chocolate. The manager finally said he would allow it this time but in the future that was not 'how it worked'. That's not very customer friendly in my opinion. My friends however were pleased with their meat and we all enjoyed the dessert chocolate dipping.
Dear Kristine, thank you for your feedback. Traditional Alpine fondue is commonly had with croutons but we do have fresh bread, do not hesitate to request it next time :) In essence, fondue is to be shared among people of a same table as every course comes in a big sharing pot. That is why everyone at a table needs to do the same prix fixe. Sincerely, Benjamin Taureau
Nice experience. Great fondue Good service. Very pleasant
Very expensive for cheese & chocolate
Their fondue is amazing! Interior looked a bit weird to me but it's was great for a nice quiet dinner. And was surprising to see they accept only cash, amex or bunch of cryptos, no visa or mc
Cheese seems to be packaged cheese rather than fresh cheese. The bread to dip the fondue is croutons rather than fresh bread. Silverware was wet, place seemed dirty.
Dear patron, Sorry to hear that we didn't live up to your expectations. We use high quality, aged (not "fresh") cheese that we cut and mix in-house. It is not processed if that's what you were referring to. Croutons are the way fondue is consumed originally in France. We bake them from fresh bread we get from Gran Daisy Bakery in Soho. Finally, rest assured we take health and hygiene extremely seriously and thoroughly clean and disinfect our silverware and premises daily. Sincerely, Benjamin
Really excellent fondue - both cheese and meat. Also, our server was exceptional.
Great service, awesome fondue

Delicious! Great quality food! Stop searching and go here. You won’t be disappointed.
I was able to book same day celebration to celebrate my anniversary. The service, food and ambiance was good. The servers were friendly and welcoming. I was running late and they were able to accommodate my reservation 1hr later. Great place for a quiet and romantic date nite.
Great service, private/safe outdoor seating. Food was excellent.
Absolutely love the food here. A great experience for fondue and the portion is just the right amount. Will be back again soon!
Amazing fondue. Great service
The food was ok, but nothing exceptional. A little bit pricey for the quality. The service was bad, the waitress were rude and unpolite
Dear patron, Thank you for your feedback and we're sorry about your unpleasant interaction with the host. Rest assured we will address the matter and ensure our staff provides the best experience possible to our customers. Sincerely, Benjamin
Have been here multiple times. Fantastic food and the service is always great. Excellent value. Highly recommend!
Service was no good, place was great and food too but the servers had an attitude and did not look happy
Dear KatalyV, Thank you for your feedback, it's always appreciated. We are sorry the service was lacking on Saturday night. Rest assured that we strive to improve our service experience and the team will take note of your feedback. Sincerely, Benjamin
I usually don’t write any review but this time would be exceptional. I took my girlfriend for a dinner here and let me tell you something it was AMAZING.
We’ve order 3 course meal: 1.) It was hot cheese (we got truffle - delicious) and on the side croutons w/ salad leafs w/ a slight hint of vinegar dressing. Keep in mind croutons are unlimited but we only needed one round because you can’t be too slow with eating it or the cheese would get too hard. (Don’t forget to keep stir it to keep keep it from getting hard. 2.) You get too choose between 4 diff kinds of meats. We’ve chosen filet mignon and steak with vegetable broth. Instead of broth you can get a pot with hot oil (they have diff kinds) or a different kind of broth. So is is the same principle as what’s with the cheese appetizer bites the meat is raw and you have to cook it yourself. It is kind of a slow process at this point. We’ve had to change our broth once because it evaporates. Also, they tell you how to cook it: 15 seconds for medium rare, 30 seconds for a well done. But in my experience the timing turned out to be different. I love medium rare but after 15 seconds it was still raw. So you’d have to find that out on your own, can’t tell the exact time of cooking. 3.) Lastly, for dessert you get to choose between milk chocolate or dark chocolate. We went with milk chocolate and it came with bananas, strawberries, marshmallows, banana cake (more like banana bread), and some other kind of cake, apple and pear. It was so delicious. I have no words to describe the desert. You have to come here and try it yourself. It’s that amazing.
I forgot to mention they have a wide variety of wine to choose from or they have a small section with cocktails. I asked if they make margaritas, I had a feeling they usually don’t, but they made me a few and they were good. Although, a lot of people wouldn’t like them because it was on the strong side, I enjoyed it though.
Anyway, it was a great experience
Fantastic space, amazing truffle cheese and dark chocolate fondues
Have been here several times now - the food and service has always been fantastic and it's an excellent value. One of the best restaurant fondue places we've ever been to. We highly recommend going!
This is my second time dining here - the food is amazing - great portions and quality, excellent service overall. Amazing value (especially for the three course option). I would highly recommend this restaurant!!
Always a great experience!
Loved this place, amazing fondue offer and one of the best fondue's I've had in the city!
It’s always an amazing experience at Taureau, the cheese fondue is the best I’ve ever had. Looking forward to going again soon! Covid restrictions were followed properly, the whole experience was great as always.
