Taste of India - Pensacola Ratings and Reviews
This is the first time I ate here. I am new to the area and friends recommended this place. The food was wonderful. The Gobi Manchurian (crispy cauliflower appetizer) was DELICIOUS. I ordered the Nellore Curry for dinner. It was extra, extra spicy...loved it. It will be a regular on my dining list. On top of the delicious food, the service and staff were wonderful and gracious.
What a magical evening before Nutcracker at
Saenger. Rudy and Food were impeccable. Wait staff great. Some nice wines. Will be back. From NYC. Eat Indian Food weekly. Don’t sleep on this wonderful place. Great restaurant, food, service and Indian cuisine right here in Pensacola!
Family dinner after travel day on a wedding weekend. Met all our needs, including GF member who can only eat out at Indian restaurants. Friendly server/owner (?) who made recommendations and nice wait staff who served drinks/food. Would prefer table cloth and nicer dishes, but food was good.
I had out of town guest and i wanted to take them somewhere "different" for dinner. Well..we had a MARVELOUS dining experience. As soon as we walked in and i gave my name for the reservation, we were immediately escorted to our table by the host of the resturant. After we perused the menu's for a few minutes, he came over and talked to us and asked us about our dining experience at Indian resturants. We all said we were "novices". He then preceded to tell is a little history about some of the items on the menu. Anyway..bottom line..LISTEN TO HIS RECOMMENDATIONS!!
The food was delicious, service was very attentive..and the resturant host made the evening "an experience "! Don't miss this place!
Upon our arrival, we were greeted and seated quickly. The staff was friendly and the specials were explained before we ordered. Drink service was prompt and the food arrived in good time. Dinner was delicious! We ordered the mixed tandoori grill and chicken biryani, Wonderful! I will definitely recommend this restaurant to others, and look forward to returning myself.
This place is great. My wife and I were in the mood for dinner other than the normal beach cuisine. We were greeted by a friendly gentleman and seated. The menu and spices were explained as my wife isn't into spicy hot. The appetizers came and were wonderful. Dinner was excellent as well. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable and professional. We highly recommend giving The Taste of India a try if you are looking for an exciting mix of great Indian flavors.
Four of us shared 5 dishes and a wonderful cucumber salad. Goat, lamb, chicken all tasted great. The service was wonderful and or server provided suggestions that added to our experience. We spent a good bit of time after our meal chatting and never felt rushed to depart.
On a trip from New Orleans to Tallahassee, we took a short detour to eat at Pensacola's Taste of India. It was well worth it, due to the varied, prepared daily spicing and high quality ingredients. Owner took the time to explain the menu, which included many old standards, as well as some new to us dishes. This is now our choice as the best Indian food south of Washington, D.C. The portions are large and the delivery rather quick. So order judiciously or take food home for a great reheated lunch.
Took my girlfriend and her family here for her birthday. Atmosphere and service were great! Not too upscale, yet not too homely. Wait staff was super friendly and helpful, and the owner made some excellent suggestions. The food was well prepared and authentic. Spicy and delicious. Definitely recommend to others as well as plans to go back.
We have tried the others and this is by far the Best Indian foor in Pensacola. We made a reservation with Open Table. When we got there they had a table reseved for us and seated us immediately. The owners made us feel very welcomed and helped us with the menu. Great experience!
This place is a true gem. You have to have a palate eager to dance with the exotic flavors that is Indian cuisine. We have been there twice in the past month. The recommendations from the host are always spot on. His sense of humor is appropriate if not slightly insulting (in a funny way - like laughing "with" you and not "at" you). I am not well versed on Indian cuisine but I would recommend anyone watch The Hundred-Foot Journey (2014) the celebrate the feel good ending with a dining experience at this fine, family owned restaurant. I have to say...others of Indian background frequent the establishment...must mean something!
Reservation process was the highlight - fast and easy with Open Table. The staff had our names and were expecting us. We were seated very close to the entrance on a very cold night, and we had to wear our jackets from the cold entering with each new guest. The tables were crammed in a reactively small area. We were asked our order without receiving menus. My diet coke was never refilled. Overall, the food was bland with little flavor. We had ckicken masala tikka and chicken tandoori. The chicken tandoori was barely warm. The staff was only marginally friendly. The person filling water was the friendliest.
We were vacationing in navarre and wanted to try something different. We we loved this restaurant! The food was authentic and and wonderfully prepared! Everything was delicious! We especially loved the cauliflower appetizer which was recommended by our waiter. The service was top too, very helpful and friendly! Will definitely come here again when in Pensacola area! Overall a wonderful dining experience!
Overall 4 out of 5, losing one star due to it's location and infrastructure/ambiance.
NEGATIVES: Outside decor/theme was obsolete making it not attractive. Seating arrangement is better for a group/family than couple dates. The location doesn't help it either, I don't feel that a lot of traffic come through that direction, especially being on a one-way.
POSITIVES: Reservation was made 3 hours in advance and they had table set and ready for me when I arrived. I've been to fancier restaurants that wouldn't even have done that. Service was superb! I had almost everyone from the wait/management staff come by at least once to greet or wait on me. Their recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious and came out in a timely manner.
We'd heard mixed reviews but were pleasantly surprised by Taste of India. We ordered the vegetable samosas, taste of India Tandoori grill, and garlic naan. I had a mango lassi and my wife had an Indian shiraz. The service was quick and the food was delicious. We think the lamb was actually mutton but still very tender. The manager, Rudy, came by at the end of the meal to see how we liked it and talked for a while about northern Indian cuisine. We're looking forward to trying their buffet.
