While we love this restaurant it is EXTREMELY noisy when full which is most of the time and needs some sound panels. For a table of six we had to shout at each other :/
As good as it was, and it was very good, it was just a little too expensive for what it is and where it is.
I ate at Taste Kitchen before for our anniversary in June. My S/O and I came here again to eat since we enjoyed the food so much. We are moving to CA so we made sure to dine at Taste Kitchen one last time.
That night was cold and the Wolverines just lost to Ohio State at home. A sad occasion for Michigan fans.
We ordered a pot of peppermint tea and a couple of entrees. Diver scallops and crispy skin salmon.
We like the food. It's well-balanced and tasty. Every bite is flavorful and sauces complement the main ingredients.
Service is attentive and courteous.
We will surely miss Taste Kitchen.
We arrived on time for our 8:00pm reservation, but we had to wait quite a long time for a table to open up. They offered free drinks while we waited.
always a great meal. Everyone enjoyed the food and wine.
We enjoyed the creative dishes that also were very tasty in different ways.
The atmosphere and the food were great! The problem was service- we were the FIRST tables sat for the dinner service at 5:00pm (and we even arrived a few minutes early). Apparently something happened to our dinner order and we were not served dinner until after 6:45pm (supposedly they had to remake something). We were very clearly headed to the football game that evening and cannot imagine what happened to the FIST order of the night and the fact we were told about it after we were wondering where the food was- they said it would take an additional 15 minutes to remedy the situation and it really felt like at least 20!?! They took the dish off of our bill, but they could have done a little more, noticed sooner and made more proactive decisions (again, FIRST TABLE of the night!) We had all come to A2 from out-of-state for a big reunion weekend and were really disappointed by the service.
Tate Kitchen prepares delicious food, and provides excellent attentive service. I had the Halibut, and it was delicious, as were the appetizers. Only complaint is the noise level. It is not cheap, so good for special occasions.
Restaurant was super cold. Staff couldn’t/wouldn’t do anything about it.
It is too bad that even after telling the server to make sure the fish is not overcooked, the halibut came out a bit over-cooked.
Dinner with friend when I was visiting from North Carolina.
Excellent food and service.
Fantastic food, great service, good atmosphere, not noisy.
The food was very good and our reservation was honored on time. The noise level was not good for conversation, especially for seniors. I would still return in the near future.
Was pleasantly surprised by this find. Well worth it and have already recommended to my friends!
Outstanding food and service. Reservations a must,
Really good food, great attention to detail. The people were great and the food wonderful.
Fabulous can't wait to go ahead soon! From the moment you open the front door the ambiance and attention to detail is perfection!!!
Good local food prepared well. My duck was cooked perfectly medium rare with a not too sweet Asian flavored sauce. Small but well chosen wine list. The interior is wide open so not the most intimate or quiet atmosphere. One of the best dining options in Ann Arbor.
My first time at Taste Kitchen: LOVED it! The food choices were unique and described well. The food we ordered was absolutely delicious!!! Wonderful flavor combinations, great wine selection, and the chocolate dessert was amazing! I will be back next time I am in Ann Arbor!
Good all-around food and service. Very enjoyable evening
We had an excellent meal.
Beet salad was nothing special, I expected the dressing to be flavorful; it was not. The quail was excellent, good flavor and rich duck taste for the au jeau. Scallops were cooked very nicely and corn sautée was yummy but pork berkshire was bland, no deep flavor and the sauce was only oily tasting. Very disappointing. I read the revues on Trip Advisor and was excited to try it but due to 50% of the meal being nothing special and for the money spent, not worth returning. The service was excellent, our waiter, very friendly and willing to let us try many wines before making our final decision.
Absolutely incredible food and service! They truly went above and beyond and we were there on a very unique night with some difficulties on the street and they handled the whole situation calmly, professionally and with an appropriate sense of humor. Could not have asked for more!
Just dined here for the first time and LOVED it!! Went on a Friday night and most tables were occupied. It is lively inside, and had a fun atmosphere. The waitress we had was very good and attentive. The food was amazing! I had the tuna poke and my husband had the beet salad to start...both were excellent. I had the panko encrusted whitefish for my entree...it came with vegetables in an amazing coconut lime sauce, and it was delicious! My husband had the halibut and it also was fantastic! We were impressed with everything and will definitely go back again...one of our new faves in AA!
Always a great place where food and service are what one hopes for in Ann Arbor.
Scallop ceviche and mussels apps are to die for. Filet Was delicious. My fiancé loved everything about the place. Great place to take a date. Server was knowledgeable and manager was very friendly. We will be back.
We were celebrating our anniversary and decided to try Taste for the first time. I had read good reviews but had never been there. We had a great dinner: the duck was amazing! I just wished they still had the matcha creme brûlée for dessert as I had seen in the menu online- instead they had a coffee one which was good. We ended up with 2 desserts although we ordered only one but the waiter surprised us with our second option as well, charging us for only one! Nice atmosphere too - overall a pleasant experience!
great seafood - could eat the poke everyday -will go again next time in Ann Arbor
Excellent service and high quality food. Small and special restaurant. I highly recommend., fantastic customer experience!
Amazing food. My wife and I loved it and we will be back.
Both my husband and I agree that this is one of the best meals we've had in a long time. I had the duck, he had the pork, and they were both full of flavor and perfectly cooked. Outstanding!
I went with my family of four, and we agreed that this is the best restaurant experience we have had in recent memory. It's clearly our new favorite in Ann Arbor. The slogan of the restaurant is something like "locally sourced, global cuisine," and that's perfect. There's something for everyone, and each dish is creatively planned and seasoned. We had the mussels and a tuna poke as appetizers, and both were superb. I had a fish stew, which was clearly remarkable. The grilled pork with an egg on it seemed to be the most popular dish, and my daughter reported that it was outstanding. Wines are on the expensive side by the glass; definitely the bottles are a better value. The wine selections are interesting, and our server was very conversant in wines and in pairing wines with food.
We dined at Taste Kitchen a few months ago and loved it. Upon our return, the service was not as attentive and most of the menu was the same, so not as interesting. Perhaps just not as unique the second time around. This is a small restaurant and becomes noisy when the dining area is full, so a romantic dinner would be difficult. All in all, it's a nice addition to A2.
Taste is our favorite restaurant in Ann Arbor. Food is delicious though, ideally, the dishes should be served at a hotter/warmer temperature. With exception of the soup, the dishes ( quail and filet mignon) were barely luke warm.
Excellent food. Very farm to table with decent size portions. I love that they are willing to do any substitutions you ask for. They are happy to take the sides of one dish and add it to the main dish you like. The flavor has been fabulous with every item I have ever chosen.
The cucumber-infused house margarita was exceptional! The Vietnamese soup would have been excellent without the massive amount of cilantro (20% of Americans cannot tolerate cilantro). The almond-encrusted Whitefish was disappointing (it really lacked flavor). I should have gone with the pork chop.
Creative, interesting food. Well prepared and well presented. I like how they pay attention to details with their food. Very responsive and pleasant service. A real gem near the campus.
Fabulous meals. We all enjoyed our orders. Fresh. Flavorful. Hot! As in temperature. Great signature Mojito. Fair prices. Will return.
We chose Taste Kitchen because it is listed in Ann Arbor's top ten restaurants. We were not disappointed! The choices we made were very well prepared, and with tastes out of this world. We had the mussels - yum! and the soup, plus salads and fish tacos. All were excellently prepared, and we found ourselves exclaiming " how good this is!" with every dish. We would go back again in a heartbeat!
