Tarragon at The Inn at Honey Run Ratings and Reviews
We celebrated our anniversary and had an amazing experience. The service, ambiance and the FOOD were fantastic. Our server was excellent and made great recommendations on drinks & entree choices. My osso bucco was out of this world. My husband wanted the triple chocolate cake and was disappointed that it wasn’t available. Our server (Theresa?) suggested ice cream with fudge sauce instead, it was the perfect ending.
The decorations were cozy & elegant.
Best dining experience we’ve had in a long time. Thank you!
We dined here for Thanksgiving (first time ever not cooking at home and first time at Tarragon). The Thanksgiving menu was very good, starting with the most delicious soup ever, then salad, an entree, which you could choose one of three things. We all went with the traditional turkey. The food was prepared perfectly and was excellent. The portions were just right for me and my adult daughters, however, my husband and son were looking for more to eat. The dessert, choice of walnut torte or apple tart, tasted amazing. The crust on that apple tart was the best ever, and I have had a lot of pies and tarts in my life! The coffee was quite strong and we had to ask for coffee creamer a few times because the little creamer container held maybe an ounce and a half and you needed quite a bit to even color the coffee. The real drawback was the atmosphere. We were seated downstairs and we felt like we were at a business meeting, as this was a conference room. I was told it would be decorated beautifully for the season, but besides the little pears in jars on the table, I didn't notice any decorations that warmed it up or made me feel like I was somewhere special for a holiday dinner or somewhere other than a meeting room. Soft music would have been nice and maybe add some different lighting....even lamps or candles. Perhaps round tables would be a nice choice and add a centerpiece that included pumpkins or gourds. It would have felt more like Thanksgiving dinner.
Our server was attentive and we enjoyed viewing the grounds of the Inn after dinner.
First time there in a long time, and both our meals were very delicious and better than we could have hoped for. We ordered an appetizer, two entrees, and a dessert to share and all were great and perfectly prepared. We missed out on the nice view of the Autumn scenery because of our reservation time, but another visit of breakfast allowed us to enjoy a great overlook of the woodland landscape that surrounds the hotel.
We selected the Tarragon for our wedding Anniversary because we were staying at anearby hotel and wanted something special. I requested in advance two things a window seat and two glasses of champagne. Neither request was filled or even acknowledged. The menu was suggested as 5 course dining. We selected three courses, the miso mushroom soup was decent my wife liekd the clams. Fora second coruse we split the goat cheese tart, it was essentail a small puff pastry with globs of goat cheese with a dried out tomatoe on it, it left alot to be desired. Well we thought the main course will make up for everything. My wife selcted the filet mignon and I selected the duet quail. My wifes filet came out and she said oh they got it wrong but ti was the only steak selection on the menu. It was a half inch thick cut of meat and had a bone in it and was fatty, she could only eat half of it and threw the rest away. I received my duet quail and started laughing. I have had bigger chicken wings than this was my fist thought. It was lacking in flavor and could barely be eating after I ahd to rip it apart with my hands. After all this the bill came $146 without tip, I had one IPA $ 8.00 and my wife had two glasses of chardonnay $20.00. We tipped the waitress she could tell we were not pelased but it was not her fault. Needless to say it was very disappointing. We ended up grabbing a couple beverages in Millersburg and ended up eating chips watching a movie. Tarragon needs to adjust there menue and pricing. I don't mind spending the $$$$ as long as the quality is there. Tarragon and it's chef really miss the oppurtunity with travels looking for a nice sit down meal.
I enjoyed breakfast, lunch and dinner at Tarragon. It was a beautiful setting and quite, I assume because it was a weekday. Each meal was delicious, creative and presented with care. The service was attentive and very pleasant. I would recommend the restaurant for a special occasion. It is worth the ride into the woods!
My fiance and I had lunch at Tarragon on Sunday to check the food out while visiting the Inn at Honey Run as a wedding venue. The food was spectacular! It is inside the Inn, but easy to find. Our waiter, Brandon, seated us in a corner with large windows, so we were able to watch the wildlife in the trees. It was rather empty, so it was a nice, romantic meal. We were thoroughly impressed with the menu--and although I cant speak for the cocktails (no alcohol service on Sunday) the prices were reasonable for the quality.
We look forward to coming again, and having our wedding catered from them!

Wife and I celebrated anniversary at the Inn and enjoyed dinner at Tarragon. Both of us selected seafood for both appetizer and main course - always 'iffy' in Ohio - but relied on our server's honest (and correct) assessment. Littleneck clams were delicious - but we wish there were more in the appetizer version. The halibut was presented over sweet corn - which paired quite well with a healthy portion of quality fish. Bibb salad also was a hit- fresh, great combination of flavors, and dressing just right.
We each enjoyed a cocktail and our own bottles of wine (red and white) - for the bargain seekers they do have $25 bottles which are quite satisfactory.
Service was attentive and pleasant and timely. Overall, a really nice experience - albeit pricey.
One other positive - oftentimes you feel 'bloated' or overdone after a multi-course meal with drinks and wine. Not here - we think the quality of food is excellent - and our bodies appreciate that!
Stayed at the Inn for a quick getaway and had an absolutely lovely meal at Tarragon. We happened to be there a Sunday to Monday and they do not serve any alcohol on Sunday's which was a bit of a pity. Would have loved to pair their wonderful food with an equally wonderful wine. Would absolutely return!
We have celebrated our wedding anniversary here for 8 years and we come away wowed each year!
I am a gluten free vegan and they accommodated me without a blink. Attendant was John and he was excellent as they all are. Try the four courses.. you won't be disappointed. We walked the Open Air Art Museum trail after dinner and got to the top just as the sun started its descent.
One of the best meals I've had in a long time. The chef's honeycomb was outstanding, the risotto and creamed corn out of this world. Our server, Erin, was very professional, kind, and prompt. My husband's steak, although ordered medium, came out rare... they immediately took it back and brought us a fresh plate.
The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and courteous. However, we were sat at our table for longer than 20 minutes before we were approached by our server for drink orders. We also placed our dinner order at the time. It was over an hour before our appetizer was brought out and then 25 minutes after finishing our appetizers, our next course was served. The food was delicious and the ambiance was wonderful. However, sitting at a table for 90 minutes before receiving any food or an explaination, was a disappointing way to spend my anniversary.
This place is a hidden gem. We also stayed at one of the cabins and will definitely make a return trip. The grounds are beautiful and the cabins are private and have every amenity you could ask for. The food was amazing. The entire dining experience went well past our expectations, from the phenomenal menu selection to the personal, friendly, and knowledgeable wait staff.
The inn is a beautiful place and so is the restaurant, the meals are well thought out.
Unfortunately the steak my wife ordered was mostly gristle and when pointed out to the server it was like oh o.k what a shame.
A little bit more attention to the fact that you
Are paying $40 for sub standard food would of been appreciated , not even an apology.
Spoiled an otherwise beautiful evening.
