Our second time - this time was for breakfast. The quiche was amazing as were the pancakes. Although it is pricey, the food is so fresh and really worth the splurge. Our service was super as well.
Small resort restaurants are tricky...this one definitely missed the mark. The decor is very generic (think: cookie cutter hotel lobby on a budget). My husband's third course was prepared well (he got the filet), however, his first (clams) and second (citrus salad) were kind of on par with my food: what should have been a well-executed dish was off. Flavors of food are supposed to complement each other, not be so overpowering that the taste doesn't leave your mouth for hours. The curry flavor was good, but the jasmine rice was soggy. Could have had the potential to be great!

Over the years, we have celebrated wedding anniversaries in part by having a lovely, quiet dinner at Tarragon. This year was no exception. As always, the food was superb, as was the staff. The hosts and servers are highly trained, attentive, kind, friendly, and all-around wonderful. The cocktail and wine menus are limited, but what they offer is very good. (I am a fan of the smoked-vermouth Manhattan.) We had dessert and coffee, but unfortunately had no room this time to top off the meal with their excellent 20-year port afterward. Since discovering Tarragon some years ago, it is always on our must-visit list whenever we are in the area (typically three or four times per year).
Wonderful meal from start to finish!
My wife and I had two wonderful dinners at the restaurant two nights in a row over the weekend on our get-away retreat. The menu was varied and the food was outstanding. We enjoyed the salads, soups, chief special appetizers, main courses of lamb shanks, pork chops and streak prepared perfectly, as well as the wine selections and unique dessert. The atmosphere and décor were quiet and very relaxing. We would like to complement the service and their helpful suggestions. Their manner and pace was a pleasant and comforting change from other restaurants. We are already planning our next get-away later this year.
We dine at Tarragon every two or three months and the food is consistently excellent. The menu is a little more limited than most restaurants, but the appetizers, salads, and entrees always exceed our high expectations. The setting in the woods is very tranquil. They should up light some of the trees so the scenery of the woods can be appreciated at night.
The food here was outstanding. We stayed at the hotel, and were impressed with both the breakfast and dinner! Everything from start to finish, including drinks and dessert were just wonderful. The only thing we were a little disappointed in was the scallop entree, it was a tiny amount of food for the price, 3 small scallops and a tiny side, maybe 3 bites. But the flavor of everything served here was amazing, we would return and definitely skip the scallops.
Good choice of wines and perfect location in Amish country. It used to be a very nice restaurant, both for food and service. However, it has changed. They are always training new waiters and waitresses. One of the senior ones follows them for training, while the other few have to serve most of the other tables. It is not a place to rush, as the ambiance is good, but getting a drink while eating has taken us up to half an hour, both during breakfast and dinner. Apart from the empty glasses, the dinner menu is limited, and there is a lack of vegetarian options, as the only main dish for a long time has been a vegetarian curry. It is not good value, as for $160 for two you would expect better service and more choice. If you stay several night, as we have, you would not want to eat the same every day.

We ate there three nights. We had the lamb shank, scallops, pork chop and chicken. All entrees were superb. Favorites were scallops and lamb shank. The treatments were innovative without being pretentious. The miso soup and frisee salad were excellent accompaniments. Wait staff was friendly and efficient. Wine by the glass was a little pricey compared to the places we usually frequent.
The chef or chefs are tremendous! I’ve been to many fine dining restaurants but this food experience was outstanding!

While the quality of the food presented was good, the menu needs some work. All of the appetizers, and the complimentary bite were based on seafood. There was only one entree that was vegetarian. At breakfast, the eggs benedict had no hollandaise sauce. When I asked about this, the server said that she usually mentions that, but . . . . (I got no explanation). I said I'd try it, but she never came back to ask if it was okay. There was only one black tea at breakfast and I later found out that was $5. Not worth it.
Sydney was likely the best and most attentive (but not too attentive) dining attendant we’ve had in a long time! This restaurant experience convinced us to book this hotel the next time we are in town in three months! Great experience!

Nice environment, but dated. Food is honestly not that good. We go here once a year and it is never that good to be honest. But we like the getaway experience. This last trip will be our last. Nothing horrible happened, just better value out there.
We enjoyed dinner at the Tarragon. It was quiet and comfortable. The food was flavorful and beautifully presented. The lamb was incredibly tender and the mushroom soup was smooth and nicely spiced. Overall a very nice experience that we will remember.
The best steaks we've ever had! Period. My wife would never ever eat mussels and she tried my mussels puttanesca and ate most of mine... Fabulous!!!
We'd had lunch at Tarragon previously, and we made a special trip back for our first wedding anniversary. Our server, Heather, was knowledgeable and friendly and went above and beyond to make my husband happy with a handcrafted sangria. We both loved our meals and the atmosphere. All and all an outstanding experience.

What an amazing dining experience! Totally surprised by the great food & service at this hidden gem near Millersburg. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Theresa was one of the most professional and friendly wait personnel I have ever met. We just came back from a 4 day trip to Alexandria and DC. We ate out most of the trip and Tarragon was better than most of those restaurants. We will definitely be going back, and will bring friends and family. Merry Christmas! 🎄
