Tarpy's Roadhouse Ratings and Reviews
Excellent food and service. We had the salmon, mashed potato pot pie, meatloaf, cheeseburger, ribs, and the deviled egg appetizer and everything was deeeeelicious! That pot pie special was to die for! This restaurant is no where near our home but we will definitely be back to try other things on the menu. They even have a doggie menu!
This was our second time eating here. Food was great both times. The only disappointment was that our server didn’t tell us that our lemonades refills are each a separate charge. We’ve been to plenty other restaurants and for the high price on the meals, they give us free refills. Our bill was higher than normal due to the refills we had on our lemonades.
Ate at Rio Grill, a sister restaurant, the week before. Had the same entree.
Sat at a nice table in the main dining room
Greeted by the server promptly and asked if we wanted bread, which never arrived. I had to ask the busser.
The cauliflower soup which was a special was EXCELLENT. Great flavors and nearly as good as the soup at Shadow Brook in Capitola.
I had the buffalo ribs for a second time. I compared them with the ones I had at Rio Grill. They r had a slightly more tangy flavor and it looked like they forgot to remove the membrane.
Our entree arrived just as I was finishing my soup. It would have been nice to have a little time in between the service. Felt rushed.
They have a good selection of wines by the glass
Overall I prefer the service of Rio Grill along with the food quality there.
We were so impressed with the private room that we did not request. I suspect it was the two babies we had in our party. The servers and waiter were on target with our needs and received a 20% tip. Over the years I have yet to have a poor experience at Tarpys.
The food, as always, was excellent. The noise at lunch made it hard to hear at out table, so puck a quinter time if needed. Only complaint is that I called ahead to see if the would offer individual checks for a work lunch, and though assured on the phone that it was possible, our server was unwilling or unable to help do that for us. Caused a bit of a scramble to use several cards/cash combos, which made the end of an up to that point enjoyable lunch a little frustrating. I would come back again for an intimate lunch or dinner, but not likely for a work gathering.
Food was good and was fast. Service was terrible. We were seated next to the bar where it was full and loud. We asked to be moved and we’re told they would ask the manager. The inner section of the restaurant was half empty and we were seated there. Our party was ready to order except for one person. The server was asked to come back - he said he would just wait by the table until he was ready. Really? Sever checked on us once when we got out food but didn’t come back for a while. We had to ask another server for assistance.
We have been coming to Tarpy's formally years and returned for a special occasion last week. We were very disappointed in the food. Steaks were fatty and full of gristle. Reamining items, including desserts, were mediocre- certainly n9ot wonderful as in the past. Service and ambience were fine.
I ordered meatloaf and didn’t eat to much because i had appetizers so i asked for my meal to be boxed, I never received my box to bring home. I asked my server about I️t and she said she saw the kitchen throw I️t away. She had the kitchen prepare a child’s serving and when i went to eat it the next morning i realized it was a bite size portion. I was extremely upset because what they tossed out was a huge portion. I will NEVER go back to eat there!!! Very dissatisfied !!!!
