Tarpon Bend Raw Bar & Grill Ratings and Reviews
Everything about this restaurant is top shelf. The wait staff was the most knowledgeable I have ever experienced. She spent at least 10 minutes explaining the menu, specials of the day, and her recommendations. We were given a complimentary appetizer because it was our first time dining with them. The menu items were superb and the drink selections were creative and wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and amazing service !!!! Late night dinner for a catch up with friends. Starters were awesome Ceviche special and chicken buns were recommend and very good. Entrees were all good. Great for sharing. Waitress was fantastic Super helpful and attentive. She made sure we knew they appreciated us choosing their restaurant. Definitely recommended
The food and service were great but my only criticism is the fact that the restaurant keeps all of its doors and windows open (even though it’s hot and muggy out) for “ambiance” but all that does is make the folks that opted to eat inside feel stupid for eating inside! Dumb comment I know but I had to say it.
I ordered the Cedar Plank Salmon medium but when it arrived it was cooked to a crisp. They ruined a perfect piece of salmon. The Shrimp in the Shrimp cocktail were not as fresh as they should have been. The Flan was very good for dessert. Love that they have 2 drinks for the price of 1 during Happy Hour!!
If you are looking for upscale seafood with an ample wine selection, this is not the restaurant for you. It's very casual and there are just two chardonnays to choose from--neither of which are worth drinking. The menu is uninspired. There is also an unpleasant smell throughout the dining area from tables that have been wiped with a dirty rag.
At our arrival, we have been placed at a very nice table by one waitress then another staff member kicked us out claiming the table was reserved. The restaurant was half empty so we didn't understand this very strange non customer friendly move. The food was simply not good. My wife had a tuna burger than was seared on the outside but still half frozen inside and very mushy. She only ate a couple of bites and still got sick at night. Our friends complained about their food being too spicy and my fish was just unremarkable. I also had the worse Gin and tonic of my life. How can you mess up that???
I love Tarpon Bend - almost....
This was my 5th time here and that should tell you something given the plethora of eateries in Coral Gables!
Tarpon Bend is a pleasure on two grounds 1) its independent 2) it's great.
The menu is varied but small enough that you know they can do everything well and the cooking is top notch.
The shrimp starter are a revelation and anything that incorporates trout or Paiche is sure to please.
However.... it is not for everyone, my last visit was with my parents and the noise level made conversation either impossible or a shouting match, likewise the service is mixed, certainly not bad, but no where near the standard of the cookery
