Tarla Grill Ratings and Reviews
This was first time here for my wife and I. We LOVED the food and the service! Great selections. She ordered the fish and I ordered the marinated lamb kebob, and then we shared. We had tickets to the 8:00 PM Louis Black Show at the nearby (3 short blocks) theater, so we were looking for a restaurant to try where we could get in and out in time for a relaxed meal. We made 6:15 PM reservations, the place was packed, but our table for two was awaiting our arrival. Our waiter, Chuck, got right on it, and we had a delightful, relaxed dinner and were done in 45 minutes -- even though the place was literally packed with people, many of them going to the same show as we were.
We went to the grill for dinner prior to going to a show at the Uptown. After looking at the menu, the waiter told us that the special that night was scallops. We both love scallops but we neglected to ask what the price was for the dish. The main course included three medium-sized scallops with some vegetables. The cost of the plate was $36 per person. That's almost $10 over wha the highest price regular item is on the menu. I was upset with myself for not asking and very disappointed that the waiter did not tell us what the cost of the dish was that night.
We went there for a family get-together on New Year's Day. There were 8 of us and we add a great time and the food was delicious!!!! We had appitizers and brunch. The servers were great and very helpful. My family was very pleased with everything. Great Dinning Experience!
We had the X-Mas dinner (filet Choice) and thought they could have been more generous with the portion. The meat was med rare (as requested) but was covered by a sweet red wine sauce reduction that overwhelmed the taste of the beef. We paid for the wine to go along with the food.....OK, nothing memorable. Felt the white hard ceramic tables were like those in a college dining room. Food was served too fast so as to flip as many tables as possible. OK, one of the few places open on X-Mas...I get it. The desert was weak and probably the worst part of the dinner. Would have liked a more authentic dinner since they promote a mideastern or Turkish theme.....some kabobs or traditional food would have been better. No real ambiance...get some tables with tablecloths and candles would be a good start. For over $200 (after tip), they should do better next time.
The food and service were both fantastic. We were very well attended to by a very good server and even was checked on by the manager/possible owner. Nice touch that you don't always get. Booked through Open Table and noted that it was my wife's birthday. They kept that under wraps until dessert and they brought out a great baklava w/ice cream and a candle. Well done....and we'll return!
Had a delicious meal here and the service and staff were great.
We had 8:30 PM reservations but were running 45 minutes late due to traffic coming in from San Francisco. We called the restaurant and while they said they normally close at 9:30, they would wait for us to arrive. When we showed up at 9:15, we were the only ones there and were treated to a fantastically fresh and delicious Mediterranean meal of hummus, Greek salad and the best Bronzino I’ve ever had. The ingredients, preparation and presentation were as good as anything you’d find in a Michelin starred restaurant.
Can’t recommend this restaurant highly enough and will definitely be returning in the future!
This was truly a wonderful experience! Everyone was very professional and the service was exceptional. I highly recommend sharing an order or two of the potatoes . They are absolutely amazing! Lemon and oregano and all things good! The risotto was cooked to perfection and don't even get me started on the baklava. Best I've ever had. We will definitely be back next time we are in Napa and I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a delicious meal that is also nicely priced.
After a long day of yard work, we headed downtown for a lazy date night. We started with the zucchini cakes, which were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside—a lovely surprise. The server helpfully left the remaining tzatziki on the table for our main meal. We had the short ribs and lamb kebabs. Both dishes were excellent, unique, tasty, portions neither too small nor too large. Service was a little awkward, but perfectly fine. Definitely will be returning. I also get the sense that they are local-friendly, which is nice given their location near the downtown center.
We had a reservation for 5 people and showed up as scheduled then waited for 15 minutes and were told there wasn't an available table despite there were numerous open tables in the restaurant. We were told those were reserved, we then stated that's why we had a reservation. The hostess then said well you can sit outside at a small table for 4 even though our reservation was for 5 people. the table would hardly accommodate 4 and definitely not 5. It was cool outside and there were no heaters available. The wait staff and the hostess got into a heated discussion and we said forget it and that as locals would never come back and will spread the word in Napa that this restaurant is a place to avoid.
Nicely balanced flavors. Sad to see they DONOT have a proper gluten free bread or pita - instead they just skip the bread which is a disservice to gluten conscious diners paying the same amount as regular diners but getting lesser value. Also the mezze cannot really be enjoyed without bread and they have not bothered to make this enjoyable for people who are gluten sensitive. For the prices they are charging, it's disappointing.
Portion sizes are also small. High prices as is to be expected in upscale Napa dining. Lovely ambience.
The saganaki was cold. The grape leaves were small but tasty. The service was excellent but the food was mediocre at best. Compared to the excellent Middle Eastern restaurants in Detroit this fell far short. About the only thing to recommend the restaurant was that the wine list included a Malbec.
