Tarla Grill Ratings and Reviews
Came here mid-week for lunch to celebrate my mother's birthday. Our server was extremely attentive without being annoying. He answered food prep and flavor questions with great knowledge and was able to give spot on recommendations. He immediately served us complimentary mimosas for the birthday celebration and also brought out a phenomenal dessert on the house (apricot sorbet with stuffed dried apricots). The food was delicious and the portions were perfect. Not ridiculously huge amounts of food, nor did we leave still slightly hungry. I will definitely recommend Tarla to friends and will also visit again.
Though the service was VERY slow towards the end of the meal (took us a good 10 minutes after we asked to get the bill and another 5-8 minutes until I got it back) and though the hummus plate seemed a little small for $9, the food is spectacular. Like, above and beyond good. It was also nice that the waiter was knowledgeable about the wine I asked for, though I was disappointed that the Retsina was served at room temperature and it wasn't until we were halfway through the bottle that he thought to bring an ice bucket. My opinion: go for the food or get take out.
It was a place with ambience. Vegetarians don't have too many options but whatever I ordered was good. Saganaka was the best. However the service wasn't very good. The waiters were absent minded and took a lot of time before coming to our table. Service needs to improve.
Great restaurant. Makes me feel like I am in a foreign country. The bar is compact and the restaurant spacious. Great for singles, groups, or intimate date. The food, yummy. Get the mezes plate with homemade pita.
Portions are very generous. The owner is very friendly and welcoming.
I highly recommend when you go to Napa and want a different dining experience. Not snotty or uppity just really neighborhoody.
Tasty, creative, varied Mediterranean and Greek inspired menu. Service was enthusiastic. Seated in bar area found a bit noisy. Several food selections had run out our evening. My fish entrée was tasty but overcooked. Overall a good but not great dining experience.
This was our second time at Tarla Grill and the first for dinner. We had lunch before and wanted to take our nephew and his girlfriend here on our way back from visiting wineries in the Napa Valley. The service is friendly (but not pushy) and the food is excellent - the octopus salad was especially tasty. Portions are generous and filling and everything is prepared with a Mediterranean flair. The cocktails are inventive and the wine list is fairly broad and very reasonable. We are looking forward to our next visit.
We have dined at Tarla before, but never for lunch. We had such a lovely, relaxed lunch out on the front sidewalk with beautiful umbrellas. Our server, Sam was exceptional and very patient with explaining the menu and our special requests. I would recommend Tarla for lunch as well as for dinner - excellent food and service!
Wonderful ambience and food was just as good.
We had vegetarians in our group .. and we were very happy with our options for dinner
the dip trio : amazing
the spanakopita: excellent
the Mediterranean salad : very good
the eggplant entree was nice too.
Overall a great experience
The staff anticipated all our needs. They made excellent recommendations on the food and beverage. I will recommend this to all my friends, as a great stop in Napa. The Mediterranean cuisine is some of the best we've ever had, and we've been to that part of the world.
We went with some friends who came up from San Francisco for the day. They've been to Napa many times but hadn't yet discovered Tarla's. We expect that they'll be back! Fun evening - great company, food, and service. The only thing we didn't love was the strawberry margarita. It seemed to be A LOT of tequila with a little bit of flavoring (didn't taste of strawberry though).
Celebrated my mom's birthday. Our waiter, Stephan, made this an outstanding experience with his excellent service and wonderful humor. Each of us was very impressed with our meals. The chicken shishkabob was succulent and the spices deep and subtle. The tomato soup was uniquely delicious. The mushroom risotto was rich and smokey. The presentation complimented the quality of the dining. We will be back!
I've gone to this place already twice and planning my third trip there. I ate their food the first time when I went to the neighboring Jam Cellars. Their food is just absolutely full of flavor, represents the Mediterranean region very well, and has a simple but diverse menu. Overall the service was incredible, attentive, and genuine. This is my stop always from now on for lunch or dinner when in downtown Napa.
Let the hostess know that it's my wife's birthday.
Hostess, said "great, I'll let the server know".
Was hoping they'd do something (sing happy birthday or something which they did for another table).
Server didn't acknowledge my wife's birthday. Nothing. Guess the hostess didn't let he sever know.
Attention to detail - high quality food, Mediterranean food that is absolutely delicious and good value. Serving size is large enough to share. Love the decor and servers are friendly and knowledgeable. Will return again and again to try the rest of the menu.
Never again will I return to this place or recommend it to anyone. We had reservations but made it to happy hour as we left the vineyards earlier. We had our puppy with us so we had to sit in the outdoor seating area. Although no one was inside or at the whole restaurant for that matter, they would not honor us happy hour menu prices because we weren't at their empty bar. With a puppy you cannot sit inside at the bar obviously and we asked the manager who wouldn't budge even though we had reservations (and no where on the menu does it state happy hour is only by the bar area) and said it was for a birthday. He said and I state "the difference is just 3 or 4 dollars on everything on the menu" well if that is the case, then why cannot you not honor it outside at your table given the circumstances? You just lost a customer who planned on returning and recommending to others.. thanks for putting a damper on my mothers birthday celebration. Best of luck with your business and customer service accommodations.
We were in Napa during BottleRock 2017, so we expected a loud and noisy experience. Fortunately, we were wrong and we enjoyed a nice dinner with little interruptions. The menu was exactly what we were expecting, Mediterranean, with lots more than just Greek food. I had the Braised Short Ribs with white truffle Risotto, which was excellent. My wife had the Branzino, which was also excellent. We can recommend Tarla to anyone looking for a good Mediterranean meal with good service and a nice ambiance.
Food was great, service was prompt. Surprised we weren't asked if we wanted anything else...we were just presented the bill. Was a little surprised that a party of four had a gratuity included in the bill. Frankly, server would've made more without it. It was pretty much a major turnoff.
