Wonderful locally sourced foods and very good service. Our waiter was excellent and the bus staff kept our water glasses topped up continuously. Good wine list and excellent vegetable dishes.

Great seasonal, locally sourced food. We really appreciated the attention to detail. Everything was plated in an aesthetically thoughtful way. The timing of presenting each round of dishes was relaxed. Everybody seemed to be enjoying the experience. I would have liked a slightly larger French wine selection, but what they did offer was good.

I took a friend here and his wife that I hadn't seen in 20 years. Needless to say we had a lot of catching up to do, which was not a problem, as the ambience was perfect for that. The food was delicious and shareable. We started off with the Mix & Match of 5 items. Our server made great recommendations and was all around fantastic. In fact, everyone working there that interacted with us was nice and friendly. Then it was the Popped Corn, Oxtail Dumplings, Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi, Yellowtail Crudo, Fried Cauliflower, Brussel Sprouts and Braised Lamb Belly. All of it was very, very good. The only two I would swap out for something else to try next time, would be the Yellow tail, only because I felt I should it eat it in Spring or Summer, and the Brussel Sprouts, though I may have already been too full to appreciate it.
I ordered the cider with ginger and lemon grass flavors. I felt like I had a huge glass of sparkling wine and it went very with what we ordered. We didn't make it to the desserts as we were too full but I can't wait to get back there to try the rest of the menu. It may take a few more visits to accomplish that.

Friendly staff, great food, wide menu and good wines. A great place slightly away from the tourists. Service was prompt, professional and helpful. The balsamic ribs were really great and the venison perfectly cooked and accompanied. It gets a little expensive with small plates, but a solid restaurant with a good vibe.

I would have given the food five stars except that the crab cake was not good, very fishy tasting. However, the manager came immediately and took it off the bill. That's just an example of the great service we received. I will go back but not order the crab cake.

We were met at the entrance by very friendly and enthusiastic staff which carried on all through our meal which made it a great experience for our daughters 40th birthday. The food is excellent and well worth the journey from England.

Exceptional food offering a wide variety of shareable plates in different sizes; everything from oxtail dumplings (a must) to Thai seafood pot to venison and duck to steak and branzino. Nice selection of interesting veggies but not over the top crazy combinations. We have now tried at least a third of the menu and everything was spot on delicious!

This place is billed as a sharing plate venue but the flavors are so disparate and do not pair well. Singapore chilli crab cakes with carbonara pasta and oxtail dumplings? We left feeling like we had been to an international buffet at great expense.

Memorable meal! We ate off the appetizers menu so we could sample more creative ingredients. The oxtail dumplings, bone marrow, braised lamb belly, and persimmon salad were all delicious, and our server new the great wine list well.

I know this is a popular place, so my comments are likely in the minority. First of all, the positive stuff: it's a very nice room in a nice location. The space in the far back, where we sat, is very pleasant. The service was very good and the staff is very pleasant. The menu is varied and not overwhelming, and the wine list is pretty large and fairly interesting with many lower priced foreign wines available by the glass. However, this was our second visit and my impressions were the same as the first - about two years earlier. I found the entree heavy and tasteless. I had the duck, which was tough. The vegetables, such as they were, that the duck came on were oily and tasteless. My memory of the first visit was much the same: lots of fried and tasteless stuff. The artichoke soup appetizer was very nice and quite hot, but the bruschetta with the fried pears on top of the gorgonzola was bland, bland, bland. Again, it all had the dark brown color of something that had been swimming in too much oil. The room gets very loud. Even the back space got pretty loud, which was surprising since the roof is open. To be fair, my wife liked her meal better than I did. But I doubt I'd try it again. Too bad, because it's a nice spot.

Loved Tar and Roses! Ordered way too much food... but it was all so delicious. Got very adventurous with the Fried Pig Tails and the Whole Fried Snapper. Service was excellent.

My only complaint is that I specifically requested not to be by the kitchen or bus station - I made a last minute reservation so knew it may not be fulfilled, however we were immediately sat in the very back of the restaurant by both the kitchen and the bus station. So if you make a reservation, make it early, and request to be front of house because the back tables aren't great.

But the food, service, general ambiance and my company made it all worth it :)

Our waitress Jolie was particularly pleasant and cooperative. Our table in the front corner was nice with good room and light. I felt the menu was pricey and that means the food and service must be way above standard and that is what Tar and Roses delivered so I will come back.

this is the first time I've been back since the re-model and it did not disappoint. The whole bass is as gorgeous and delicious as ever...that dipping sauce! The bruschettas were the perfect size for sharing for appetizers; and the wines were well selected. It's a home run!

This was my first time here and I will definitely return. The restaurant is broken into 2 sections. The front is a more lively casual area with a small bar. In the rear there is another dining room which is partially open to the outdoors and slightly more formal and quieter. We dined in the later and were very happy as this was a anniversary dinner. That said either room would be great. Interesting wine list. I focused on the reds which had sections from Italy, Spain and the U.S. There is a range from moderate to medium expensive but in general a decent value. Food is meant to be shared and that's what we did but for those who like their own dished, there is a nice selection of "larger plates". We had the oxtail dumplings, great. A tuna crudo with citrus and jalapeño, excellent. "Real" spaghetti carbonara!! The shellfish pot was delicious and spicy curry. The duck breast was cooked perfectly. The service was appropriately attentive and helpful with answering questions. Overall a lovely time and delicious meal. I look forward to sampling other dishes in the future.

We started with the box tail dumplings which were to die for. So flavorful! Then we had the fried pig tails which I wasn't a huge fan of. The crispy skin caramelized and got stuck in my teeth however our server who we loved got me a tooth pick which I thought was super sweet. Next we had the seafood pot and duck which were outstanding. Then ended the meal with the strawberry ricotta and chocolate tart and they gave us a candle for your anniversary which was very thoughtful. All in all our experience was great. I did not like the location where we were seated right by the door where most of the foot traffic was , which I probably should have mentioned upon arrival but it didn't ruin the evening. Atmosphere is trendy upscale and all of the waitstaff where super attentive and awesome. We loved our visit
